I don't think Man U won the title easily last season. Last year was an awful season. The worst team to win the title for a long time. Chelsea were headless, Arsenal bottlers and Man City just couldn't get it going.
I'm not surprised by Man U's fall from grace. Fergie has stiched Moyes up by leaving a team that needs a total rebuild. Man U will need to sign BIG in the summer and I doubt they can attract if they don't get CL. They'll need to aim for third / fourth next year to get into the CL to attract for the year after.
Earlier I said Man U will finish 5th. I'm now saying 6th. Top 3 is gone. Everton will drop off. Liverpool and Tottenham 4th/5th not sure of order.
If UTD were a poor team last season, then the rest of the PL should have been playing in the second division.
The below basic stats, basically show that we had a decent defensive record....2 world class Strikers that could score goals for fun, won Easily with 4 games to spare, goals were also scored by a large number of different players
This all points to disruption, due to new manager and coaching staff, has this impacted on team belief?
This all points to RVP and Rooney being injured being critical factor in not banging in the goals.
The above combined wit poor defence this season, conceding too many goals.
All of this giving fans the worst nightmare season for years.
Yes we need to spend
Yes we need to build
But NO we were not poor last season...that's a farce, we were better than all the other teams in the PL the stats speak for themselves.
Finished on 89 points only 6 points shy of equaling Chelsea's PL record of 95 set in 2004/5!!
And only 3 points shy of our own best achievement of 92 points in the PL era
Won last season with 4 games to spare
RVP top scorer PL 26 goals
As well as being the club's top goalscorer, Robin van Persie also created the most chances, leading in both open play and set piece chances created. And as well as being the club's second top scorer, Wayne Rooney was also second in the list of setting up shots for team mates.
Scored 11 goals more than any other team
20 different players got on the scoresheet
85.7% pass completion rate ...the highest in the premiership, so from a creativity point of view top again
Manchester United had the equal fifth best defence in terms of goals conceded. After a leaky start to the season, the focus on the defence during the second half of the season showed – conceding just 15 goals in the final 19 fixtures, of which 5 of those were on the final game alone. 3 clean sheets were kept in the first half of the season, compared to 10 in the second half.
Poor team last season I think not, poor team performance this season yes
