Bloody tough group for Spurs. And what do you know, Utd get a ****ing cake walk of a group. What are the odds on that happening? It's not as if it happens every ****ing season (they are in the CL). Still, I called it in my predictions so that's 1 thing i'll get right this year.
Pool and City should get out of their groups, though their russian trips could be tricky/decisive. Chelsea's isn't exactly straight forward from memory and well Celtic are playing for 3rd place.

How can you complain about Utds group, Liverpools is easy as well! You could play Watford 38 times and you still wouldn't win the league anyway.

Congratulations on getting married by the way.

Commiserations you mean!

Sadly you're right about Pool. If last season is anything to go by, we'd win Spurs CL group but we'd get relegated if we were in league 2.

Yeah as a Man Utd fan I do worry when you qualify for the CL, anything can happen with Liverpool.

You won't be watching much football now your married anyway.

West Ham are looking pretty poor, loosing to Newcastle like that and Crystal Palace look relegated already.

As for Sterling getting sent off for that celebration, absolutely ridiculous.

It's groundhog day for Spurs again. Exactly what they did last season, draw early games against teams they should beat and then wonder why they are two points short at the end of the season. Completely avoidable goal.

On the plus side, well done Liverpool

Really irritated by that Spurs result... 5/6 minutes left to play and instead of holding the ball up and protecting the slider lead (that they should've capitalised on much sooner), they spend the dying minutes playing long balls to Kane! hold it, sit on it, win it... how difficult is it?!?!!?

I don't think Poch is entirely blameless today either, what was he thinking bringing sissoco and Winks on? It's a must win PL match, not a pre season friendly.

Just seen the highlights of the Liverpool v Arsenal game, certainly was a clinical display by Liverpool, could have many more.
Not sure Wenger will ever walk, but them again will not be sacked either, not a great time to be an Arsenal fan.
As for Spurs, to be a Spurs fan is not an easy thing...

I thought you might like that result. From what I've read it could and probably should have more. A lot more. That two year contract extension Wenger signed a few months ago is looking even more stupid now. He is, sadly, yesterdays' man. Hanging on at a club when he should have moved on ages ago. At any other club he would have been sacked a long time ago. The sad thing is he is destroying Arsenal as a club. It will take a long time and a lot of money to make them a force again, once he goes. The longer he stays the longer and more expensive it will be too fix. It may already be too late to return them to PL winners.

The problem is on paper Arsenal still look like a successful team. They fluked second in the league the season before last, and somehow managed to win two trophies recently. As long as they keep punching above their weight like they have been for the last decade, why would they get rid of him? They need a couple of fruitless seasons before anything will change.

Yes but anyone with half a brain should be able to see that those facts are written on very thin paper covering very large cracks
Being honest, and I can't actually believe I'm typing this, I hope we completely stuff up this season, finish mid table and force change through

I'm sorry to say, that this might not too far from what does hapen, if the performances so far are anything to go by!

So the Ox to Pool for 40mil on two thirds the wage we apparently offered, 50 mil bid for Alexis turned down, Gibbs to WBA, Gabriel to Valencia for 10 mil, Muatafi apparently could be heading to Germany and we still have f img Wilshere and Walcott. WTF is going on???

That Ox fee is ridiculous. He is/will be a squad player at best. That's silly money for a squad player. Don't get me wrong, he is a good player, but he won't be first team so why buy him and leave the two real problem areas in that squad, LB and Keeper, unstrengthened. It seems a bit strange.

Any sign of spurs buying a striker yet or are they continuing to hope Harry Kane can play the guts of a 60 game season and not break?

Llorente, I guess an experienced striker isn't a bad shout to accompany the youngsters. When is Lamela going to be fit again? He's been out for about 18 months now. I don't really understand why Spurs have bought two 'premium' centre backs, I understand having solid backup for Vertonghen and Alderweireld, but I can't see either of the new signings getting a regular game.

Overall I feel pretty happy with the Spurs signings... in the end... Dear God why can't we do business early and get these new signings on pre-season tours and training earlier?!?!?

So what we got....

Llorente - 15 goals in 33 games at a pretty crappy club in the Premier League, gives Spurs a proper plan B or C and also a good line leader if Kane gets a knock or is ever allowed to have a game off. No 'number one' striker is joining Spurs while Kane is there, so I think this is the perfect solution.
Aurier - (on paper) a better defender and crosser than Walker as well as scoring more than he did; half the price too. Admittedly a different league though, so still unproven, but promising at least.
Foyth - one for the future by all accounts... not too sure we don't have our own versions of him in hand already.
Sanchez - Looks to be new partner for Alderweireld; I fully expect Vertongen to move out of the PL and into the cup roster sooner than later.
Gazzinga - coming in as third choice keeper, likely to promote to second spot next season. He already works with what I consider to be the leagues best keeper in Lloris when representing France and keen to learn from him. Natural successor or potential cash cow of the future.

Oh and it looks like we made a little cash there too.
Total outs gained £89.64m
Total ins cost £78.30m

As for Ross Barkley stepping off the treadmill and changing his mind, Arsenal turning down £60m for Sanchez, who is unlikely to play all season and leave for free... well it made for an interesting night at least. I do wonder if Coutinho will finally leave for Spain today too. Not sure there is any point in hanging on to him when he clearly wants out is there?
