Premier League Discussion Thread 2013/14

Been hearing some pretty high profile pundit whispers, take the sting out os SAF going

Went to OT for the farewell...it was awesome RVP was the happiest man on the planet...he's here for the duration

Rooney ...bye.....Ronaldo .....welcome home....think this could have some legs :D

Not sure I can see the Ronaldo deal going through. Don't think Utd have the money for the fee or his wages. Plus, whilst he's a great player there are more pressing needs in that Utd squad than an attacking midfielder/forward.
In fact, I'd say that's about the last thing they need.

I fancy Chelsea for the title this year they've got a solid team and just need to bring in a striker and right back and with Mourhino back they are going to be buzzing. He has never lost a PL game at Stamford bridge in 4 years ! amazing stat. They definitely underachieved last season but with the manager merry go round it doesn't surprise me.

You cant write of city, they've got the quality players and budget to compete but do those players have the desire, perhaps the manager will lift them as they certainly didn't look happy playing last season and that im sure had a lot to do with mancini.

Cant see utd winning again, without rvp they would of had a tougher challenge winning the title, they were simply the best of a bad bunch last season and this year they will struggle without saf who had such an influence over the officials, moyes wont enjoy the same bias from referees that saf got, although that wont be the only reason

spurs could finally overtake arsenal this year, they've been getting closer and if they hold onto bale they have every chance, arsenal need to buy otherwise they wont progress.

and this ones for Dave........... Villa, there I mentioned them :D

Next season is going to really interesting. I can't see Gollum pulling up any trees at Utd, but I think old whisky nose will be controlling him from afar if it goes tits up - expect the cockneys to be restless if they're off the pace come Christmas.

Chelsea will be stronger and they've got the new Drogba in Lukaku and he is an absolute beast, interesting to see **** coat talking down their chances of winning the league next season but they should do well. Wouldn't be surprised if they bought Rooney; think his Mrs has her eyes set on London. I'd be very surprised if he went abroad because I can hardly see him integrating well into a Spanish or Italian team - lingo problems for a start as the fat granny shagger can hardly speak English! That said, he's a little too similar to Lukaku, so Cavani is probably a better bet.

Arsenal I think will be dark horses this year - especially if they buy some good players in the summer.

Citeh, no idea really! Pellegrini could turn out like Scolari and could mould them into a very good team. Mancini was a crank and a poor man management.

Spurs, look likes AVB is sweeping the changes and letting loads of players go, think he's trying to lower the wage bill so they can give the Chimp a mega deal. If he does go I can't see Spurs doing as well as the last couple of years.

Liverpool, Suarez will go, Rodgers will buy some more Swansea players, play some attactive football and ultimately do **** all. :(

Everton - take them down Bobby lad!

Suarez is a genius but the guy's a prick (and I'm still wearing his no 7 shirt  ), and nothing short of serious shrink work is going to sort him out, so I think he will be off ... Nothing I've seen in LFC transfer gossip other than Mhkytarian so far makes me jump up and down. I expect more frustratingly close games or games where we dominate and don't get a result. I think I'll have to resign myself to another season where we don't even get in the CL.

Moyes' appointment is really good for the premiership. Man U have had an extended run of luck and help from officials (alongside some good football I must grudgingly admit) that I would like to think has ended for now with Ferguson's departure.

Wenger lost the plot long ago, don't think he will ever win the premiership again.

Man City will be dark horses, if Pellegrino can man manage their prima donnas.

I reckon Mourinho (unfortunately) will do the business and return to England with a PL triumph.

Definitely has the potential to be a very interesting. Too early to say who'll be challenging, lets wait and see who buys/sells who.
Usual suspects will b there or there abouts. Pool will be 6-7th and 15pts off a CL spot, again!

Dunno what Everton will do, they got a big call on the new manager. On that note, Dave Whelan and the Wigan board WTF were you thinking!?
That's one of the worst appointments I've seen in a long time. I'll be amazed if he's still in charge at Xmas. Terrible manager.

Interesting to see City described as dark horses with all the money that they have spent/got to spend

I can't really see beyond them this season.

On paper Chelsea have the strongest team (especially the midfield). If they could get a 25+ goal scorer I can't see past them. Though it'll have little to do with Mourinho and he'll be hailed again as a tactical genius when he's in fact an arrogant tosser who other than with Porto has had it very easy.

Sums it up quite well. I'd worry a bit about chelsea's defence, but i guess they can squeeze another year out of them. Spot on about Mourinho. scholesy's goal isn't disallowed, Porto go out of CL, Mourinho doesnt end up at Chelsea with a blank cheque.

WOW Tough start for David. He is gonna have to learn quick. The two hardest away Trips Lpool/City 3rd and 5th games of the season also have Swansea away and Chelsea at home in our first five. I suppose its good to get them out the way :D
