Premier League 25/26 Thread

Broken record time, AGAIN, Carabao cup draw and ohhh look City yet-a-****ing-gain get one of the easiest sides in the draw. What are the odds!?
It got really boring 4 years ago.

That would just be like-for-like, with less tactical ability!

Like Potter as a bloke- good guy. However, it just wasn't working in any way, shape or form. Happy with Nuno- much more dynamic and seems to have more backbone to stand up to Sullivan and Brady. Think his way of playing will suit our squad much better,

Not sure on Nuno to WH, the football was dire at Forest. Effective, but dire. And they won a lot of games 1-0 or by sitting in and getting lucky.
I guess if it keeps WH up…..

Who had Palace as the last side in the PL to lose a game?

Amorim must be on borrowed time. Sunderland next then the International break (again FFS!) and a trip to Anfield.
Lose to Sunderland, who are 4th as it stands and he could be gone.

Like the end of the ETH reign, can anyone say a single player has improved during his time as Utd boss? Have any of his signings looked like value for money? The summer signings get a bit of a bye-ball as they are just in the door, but his signings from last Jan haven't been great. Unlike ETH we at least know what style of play he wants to implement, the problem is it doesn't seem to work and shows no real signs of progress. He's a year in the job and Utd look worse.

Good luck finding a manager who can fix that shambles. If he goes that's ANOTHER year to get rid of more deadwood that won't fit the new managers' system. Deja vu.

Manager isn't 'THE' problem it's the owners. Every time we sack a manager it gets worse. Liverpool were **** until they got new owners, Man City were nothing until they got new owners, Newcastle……..I could go on and on. Name me a player Man Utd have signed and he's improved in the last 12 years.

No doubt you're correct though and he will be the next manager sacked in the PL.

Agreed, and as for a player Utd have improved in 12years, Bruno is the only one who has an arguable case.

Utd's owners aren't going anywhere though. They will want silly money for Utd. They paid nothing to buy it and it pays them a dividend of, what is it, 50-100m a year. That's a sweet deal.
They value Utd at something daft like 5 or 6 billion, maybe it's more. That price is fine if you look at the income they make "official noodle partner" anyone. BUT Old Trafford is, apparently, falling down. The training ground needs modernised and on the field Utd are a shadow of the club from 15yrs ago. Those aren't easy or cheap fixes. They should probably halve their estimate of Utd's fair value. But they don't give a **** about Utd. It's an asset that they intend to bleed dry unless someone is daft enough to offer them 'too good to turn down' money. So the club is left sacking managers.
But Amorim can have no complaints, he has been poor from the off. He seems a decent fella and talks well, but the results are dire.

Would you take Potter at OT? Genuine question. He did well at Brighton when he was given time. Chelsea are a shambles of a club and it never seemed to work at WH. IF the Utd Board say he has 2-3 yrs to sort them out almost regardless of results (relegation or the serious threat of it being the exception) would the fans get behind him or would they turn when he wasn't winning the league in a year? Is not a big enough name/tainted by his failure at Chelsea and WH.

PS, he has/had a better win ratio than Amorim in the time both have been in situ.

I only saw chunks of the Newcastle Arsenal game, the last 15-20, but **** me Nick Pope WHAT THE **** ARE YOU DOING!!!!!
He has the ball in stoppage time is under limited pressure, has 8 seconds to release it and rather than try and find a team mate he hoofs it aimlessly down the middle of the pitch at head height that results in a corner from which he flaps all round the ball and leaves Gabriel a free header. Use your brain and find a Newcastle player, or do what you normally do and waste time. Then at a corner clean all ****ing round you. If you have to put players in hospital to get the ball, you ****ing do it. You're a keeper, they will be booked for hurting your fist!

I have heard about the Arsenal pen, but only seen one very poor angle. I thought Newcastle should have had one when it hit Gabriel's hand, but apparently it deflects up. I haven't seen a replay to confirm. If it did, fair ****s no pen.
Big old result for Arsenal though (sadly).

When Amorim gets sacked I don't care who replaces him, I'm completely indifferent of a new fall guy. But seen as you asked I think Potter would be a disaster, the media would eat him alive and the players would run rings around him. I genuinely don't think there is a manager that would get this squad in the top 4. When Amorim came in I got excited thinking he plays a completely different system to the players we have so that must mean a complete clear out is coming. 12 months later he's had 2 number 10's and swapped the striker. Oh and Dorgu who's a 20 year old wing back with potential.

Don't get me wrong Amorim is making some bad decisions playing Bruno in the midfield is a disaster and putting Maquire on the half way line as the last man is just thick. But hiring him knowing that he only plays a certain way and not getting him players to suit that style just shows everyone that INEOS haven't got a clue.

As for Bruno improving since he joined, perhaps but I would say he was the same as the day he joined up until last season and this season even worse as he's playing out of position. Potter wouldn't get time, every time we sack a manger the next manager has more **** to deal with but less time.

Here's a god example of bad ownership.
Luke Shaw signed by LVG, never been the player we're paying for, started on Saturday was at fault for second goal. 10 years at the club would be more use if he was injured.

Dalot, signed buy Jose, not good enough played a part in Brentford's first and second goals. 8 years at the club, Phil Neville would do a better job in his prime.

Maquire, signed by Ole 6 years ago, at fault for the first goal on Saturday, never been a Man Utd centre back and isn't suddenly going to become one at 32.

All these players will be here for the next manager and start games. The owners can't sell them. Joke of a club from top to bottom.

I never rated Maguire, when I first saw rumours of Utd being interested in him I laughed. When I saw the rumoured price, I pissed myself. He's not a "bad" player by any stretch but he sure as **** isn't the level a side with PL or CL ambitions (stop laughing) should be looking at.

Has Shaw not, literally, been injured for half his time at OT? I think I saw a stat that said he had missed pretty much half the games Utd have played since he signed.

You might be right on the players running rings round Potter. But then they have done that to ETH, Ole, Ralfy, Jose, LVG, and Moyesy. Who the **** do you get to sort them out? A disciplinarian? Jose and LVG aren't exactly pushovers. The Board need to offload some more of the ****, and ideally not at give away prices. Utd are abysmal at selling.

Sacking Amorim probably does lumber you with more players the new manager wont fancy, but to my mind a good manager plays those players while trying to get rid of them. Making the best of what they have, and also increasing the guys value. Who is gonna pay X million for a player frozen out, like Sancho, rather than someone who is playing and at least match fit?

Utd are a shambles and it isn't an easy fix. Pep and or Klopp couldn't sort that mess out in a season. They would do a better job than your last few managers but that isn't hard.

Although, in the unlikely event City get shafted 115 times and stripped of their titles, I think Utd get three (and Pool get three, arsenal get FA cos it relates to the period before they came second, twice). From memory Ole become a PL winning manager.

I've watched it back a few times, I can live with Arsenal not getting the penalty when Pope cleans out Gyokeres, as he does just get a touch, but as it's the touch that saves him, how do they not restart with an Arsenal corner?
