Premier League 25/26 Thread

My mentioning of him in the "manager most likely to be sacked" prediction is looking like it could be a masterstroke. Sorry @Cazza.

I saw the goals, three from set pieces, 2 with poor keeping, 1 with AWB switching off, and another where half the team watch it bounce in the box (after your keeper came and got nowhere near it).

Is that a new keeper? Did you keep the receipt?
FFS don't go and buy Onana off Utd.

when Potter came in, he went back to basics and sorted the defence out. We stopped conceding and looked much more stable. A good platform to build from...

Unfortunately, yet again, our board has let us down by not giving the manager the backing he needs. They are beyond incompetent. The place is a shambles. We were so well placed to kick on, as Villa and Newcastle have, yet the board have opted to try the 'do just enough to stay up' approach, yet again. Excellent documentary here, that goes on facts and lays bare the situation:

Doing enough to just stay up almost always results in relegation, or a panic realisation and either a manager fired (cos it's totally his fault he wasn't backed) or a tonne of money spent and wasted on shite to try and stay up.

It feels like a managed decline. We've let 12+ (I've lost count!) players go and signed 3. Players like Alvarez, Emerson and Rodriguez should be worth a few million, but they're all going on loan or free. All really strange.

And Celtic lose to some part timers from Almaty (Kazakstan).
The SPL really is a shambles of a league. If your best side can't beat someone from Kazkstan…..

The commentator last night "it would be fair to say this isn't even Grimsby's strongest side"

And they played United off the park in the first half.

Granted Utd made changes, but ehh Utd are a PL side, Grimsby are in ****ing League Two.

Comedy gold. Long long may it continue.

Trent coming back to Anfield. I'm sure he'll get the nice welcome he deserves.

Pool, Arsenal, City, Newcastle and Chelsea all get broadly equal draws. And then there's Spurs. Who couldn't have picked a nicer (realistic) draw without hacking UEFA's computer.

Made me laugh Phil Jones trying to blame the system! Er system wasn't a problem against Arsenal when the players were trying. Amorim should have been able to stay at home and Utd should still win.

Ohh and Newcastle actually agree terms on a striker. After Delap, Pedro, Ekitike, Sisco, Wissa, Strand Larsen and **** knows who else, told them to **** off, they have actually agreed terms with Stuttgart for some boy I have never heard of. From what I have seen on twitter he is about 7 foot tall so he should suit their 'hoof it long every time' style.

Fingers crossed it goes through cos I'm sick of hearing about the Isak thing.

Trent leaves after seeing out his contract and Liverpool fans pillory him.

Newcastle won't sell Isaac (on liverpools terms) and Liverpool fans applaud him for going on strike.

Fans eh, what can you do

Not sure. I havent seen a single Pool fan applaud what Isak is doing. Say you want to leave, by all means, but don't be a **** and go on strike. You have a contract, honour it. If he does it to Newcastle, what's to stop him doing it to Pool in 2 years? Most Pool fans I know think the same.

Ps, Trent only told Liverpool he was leaving about a month before the end of the season. Yet he managed to learn fluent Spanish (including the Madrid 'dialect' whatever the **** that is) in time for his unveiling. He took questions in Spanish without a translator (apparently, I didn't watch the press conference for obvious reasons).

Newcastle get a possible world record fee for Isak, a boy they signed 3 yrs ago. Pool only got 8m for Trent cos Real wanted him to play in the CWC, and he came through Pool's youth ranks and is a local lad.

The two situations are similar, granted. But they aren't the same. And, yes, most football fans are raging hypocrites
