Premier League 22/23 Thread

Yeah what a goal, some Utd supporters saying De Gea should have saved it!
He left himself a lot of goal to that side, if he was a half yard across he MIGHT have made it but it would still have taken one hell of a save, plus if he'd left a gap to his right he'd have been slated for conceding that side if they did a different free kick.

You could argue if it wasn't for De Gea we could have lost that game, he made a save in the first half that most keepers wouldn't have saved. Don't get excited about Man Utd losing @lejackal 😂were not in a title race and never have been. I still think top 4 is possible for Man Utd and that's a huge improvement on last season.

I did wonder if DDG could have been half a step to his left. Albeit that is superb free kick regardless.

Why did yer man not celebrate though? He isnt ex Utd, is he? Even if he is, he didn't play much for them, so non celebration seems a bit weird.

Even if De Gea is over a bit more I think it's a tuff one to reach, tight under the bar. The Palace player has been asked why he didn't celebrate. He replied with 'I'm just doing my job, you don't see a postman celebrate every time he posts a letter do you?'

What an answer. Looks like we've signed Trossard from Brighton. Quite happy, he's PL ready and provides us an option we need

Yes another reason why Man Utd aren't in a title race, Arsenal strengthened their squad in January, Man Utd replaced Ronaldo with a target man squad player and have said that's it for January.

Trossard is strange one. He's ok, but no more. Obviously, now he will go on to win the golden boot lol.
I guess 20m odd isn't a huge amount, but Arsenal have spent a fair auld whack in the last few years. Where has that come from? They have had no CL money and while the stadium is big it hardly accounts for the spending. The likes of Pepe is still there, I think, or if he was sold he didn't even go for a fraction of the money they wasted on him. Surely FFP will turn to bite them in the ass soon? Right after it has finished with Chelsea and their efforts to buy every player in world football.

PS, Where the money is coming from, can you please tell FSG so Jurgen doesn't have to work with (relatively speaking) two and six pence.

Tiz a fair reply. A miserable bastard's reply, but a fair one.
And yes, the free kick was top notch, maybe we are being hard on poor auld DDG

The only full upfront fee we've paid was Partey as his was the release clause, the rest is on tic. Spread the cost across the contract, reduce the wage bill, amortise the initial spend etc. Chelsea are doing the same with theirs but in the extreme.

I was torn last night between wanting Spurs to win and not wanting City to lose points, so it was a bit of a lose either way match for me anyway

I remember the 98-99 season Man Utd v Spurs last game of the season Man Utd had to win to guarantee winning the league no matter what Arsenal did. Arsenal were winning and Spurs scored, Utd ended up winning and the Spurs fans were celebrating with us. Funny old game.

I saw chunks of the second half of the Spurs game. As soon as I saw they were 2 up I text a mate saying City would win 3-2. I wasn't far off.
Lloris was pretty poor for two of them, not howlers but not great keeping. He maybe had to come for one, but get a better punch on it FFS, the other that beat him at his near post did get a slight deflection, but he should still have done better IMO. Also Perisic dived in for the 3rd goal. No need son. It's on the edge of your box, just keep them in front of you, don't sell yourself and leave the team exposed.
Also, how the **** was that NOT hand ball by Richarlison? There is no way that is a natural position for his arm to be in and it hits his arm not his sleeve. VAR actually get more wrong than they get right. They should work on the principle of whatever VAR say, give the opposite decision.

Sadly, it wont b long before someone else gives him a job. Despite his record of never improving a club. Purely because he was a good player……cos that's very similar to have a clue about management

Can't really see Everton doing anything sensible now though either. Douche (what an autocorrect, I'm leaving it) is probably not a bad shout and would no doubt get them to safety, Big Dunc May fancy his chances and the crowd would no doubt enjoy it, right up to the point they realise he's not got a managers job elsewhere for good reason.
