Yeah, could swear I did a predictions thread, I normally do, but I mustn't have. Ahh well.

As for Utd, £27 million for Luke Shaw is a bag statement/gamble. Quality young player, no doubt, but is he worth £27 million, even allowing for that daft 'English premium'? I don't blame Southampton for demanding top dollar I just feel Utd are being held to ranson slightly. Time will tell I guess.

We only have ourselves to blame on that IMO. Their has been so many transfer windows recently where we havent strengthened in weak areas ie Centre back/Midfield. So now we are in a position where the selling club know we are deperate so are asking top whack and we have no option but to say yes.

is 30 million on him the answer though, i mean he is good but he will need time to blend and he has no experience, he could have done with vidic/ferdy to coax him through, i would have thought a more experienced defender would have been better, unless they are really going to splash out on a couple of CB in the summer.

I suppose only time will tell on that. I have been really impressed whenever I have seen play for Saints particuary offensively. I would like to see how he would cope in a CL game.

Well if all the rumours/reports are to be believed that we certainly have a lot of wonga to spend! Lets hope their true and we spend it wisely. This is a HUGE Summer for the future of Man United. We are at a cross roads. A good summer with money well spent and well we are back in Cl contention. Anything else and well :( :(

I really don't get this mentality where you sack any manager that doesn't win the league. How is that going to work with 20 teams in the league!? Sack a manager if they get relegated, sure. But this is a joke, sure he's not the world's best manager but changing every 5 minutes won't help anybody.

We're a sacking club sadly.
I personally don't think he was the right man for us but i also have no faith that the next guy will be so…
The top 4 favourites: Pechetino (er, no thanks), De Boer (nope), Benitez (**** no!) or Moyes (jesus christ, please no!)
Next season is not going to be fun.

Sherwood has already signed a contract to keep him at White Hart Lane next season.

Aye, from memory, he signed an 18 month contract I think. That's just to give him a little authority with the players/media I suspect. If he turns up on a 6 month deal the players/press will laugh at him. It's just long enough to make him look like a manager but not long enough to make Levy even think twice about ditching him if/when it looks like he's out of his depth or Levy finds a big name manager to take over.

Told you!

Now Pete, Edd, who do you want to replace him? potchetino? De Boer? The chosen one? Lol

Edit, just seen your post Pete. Lol. Ehhh who do you fancy for the job? Uwe Rosler did a great job at Wigan. Maybe some random from the continent?

The only reason i would go for Pockey-tina over the others is he may bring Lallana and Rodriguez with him. But that's a long shot so not really not keen. De Boer i know very little about, much as he knows very little about managing in the Premier League. Benitez no ****ing way! He's so negative, Liverpool were the dullest team in the country under him and cost them the title way back when (altho Gerard and everyone else seems to have forgotten Liverpool actually finished 2nd Premier League once before  Just 4 points behind Man U and were it not for 11 draws would have walked it given they only had 2 defeats (6 defeats this season)). And Moyes is even more negative than Benitez. Not a manager who will ever know what to do with talented players.

The hoop dream is Martinez but i don't see him leaving Everton. Not for Spurs anyway. Why would he??

Because heaven forbid you get a manager who would win you things and get you in the top four! Think you'll get Poccheto personally. Would piss myself if Spuds got Moyes!

But I don't get that mentality - as I've said before, they need to be realistic. Not every team can and will win things, most teams accept that. The ONLY way a team will win things is if they:

a) Have the best players
b) Have the best manager
c) Give the above long enough to gel

Spurs fail on all three of those, as do all but three other teams in the PL, so it's not as simple as these idiot club owners seem to think it is, you can't just buy a title no matter how hard you try.

My preference would have been to give Sherwood another season - cut their losses with Chadli/Soldado and get a couple of decent defenders over the summer. But as that's not going to happen, how about Glen Hoddle

I don't think if they got Benitez they'd win the league, but you'd have a good chance in the cups. The real problem with Spurs is that meglomaniac Levy - he just won't give anyone enough time!

I don't think he "got" Liverpool in the top 4. Correct me if i'm wrong. So what you're saying is because he managed a team that were in the top 4 then we'd have a chance at being in the top 4 if he managed us. That logic doesn't follow for me. Liverpool were a much bigger deal than us when he was managing them and for me he held them back in the league. His sole concentration was always Champions league which suited his incredibly dull, negative style of football. 3 passes sideways, 3 back, 1 forward repeat.
He was also manager of Aston Villa and i'd have to check wikipedia but i don't think they finished in the top 4 with him there.
He's not the man for me and i think 99% of Spurs fans would agree. In fact, i don't think any team in the top 7 would want Rafa Benitez in charge.

I think Utd would kill for ANYONE with a proven record of knowing WTF they were doing and occasionally using the dark art of whisper it........tactics!

Obviously his Pool connections rule him out of that job, but he would be an improvement on Moyes. Actually, Ron Manager would be an improvement on Moyes.

It will be interesting to see who Spurs go for.

I think you are getting you're ex-Liverpool managers mixed up Pete! Houllier was the manager of Villa as well and he did play negative football. Benetiz isn't a negative manager, no more so than Mourinho - he's very pragmatic. His Valencia side of the early 2000s played great attacking football. Benetiz is poorly maligned by other football fans because he always gets bad UK press. Only failed once to get LFC into the Champions League. No Spurs fans would go for him surely because of all the negative press he gets (most of it unwarranted).

Haha, you're right. I totally am. I remembered Benitez coming back and was getting him mixed up with Houllier. Benitez came back to Chelsea. Actually did a decent job there.

Benitez isn't the worst manager around. He doesn't play Barcelona-esque free flowing attacking football, but he's no fat sam our Mourinho.
Spurs could do worse than him. They could probably do a little better, but whoever they appoint he'll be sacked inside 2 years anyway.

Fixed that for you Weasel!
