Some of the goals Chelsea conceded were just as ****, defensively, as the ones Spurs did.
I guess the issue is, Chelsea don't do that week in week out and were playing the best side in Europe. Atleti are good, but they didn't have to be to score 3 of those goals. Plus they came in the first 20 mins.

Shocking set of results for the PL clubs. Three are out already, and Newcastle need a miracle.
No way Chelsea put 3 past PSG without reply. They are gone.
City are ****** over by Pep overthinking again, two in midfield and four up front in the Bernabeu....what could go wrong!
Spurs are........well, we all know.
Newcastle needed to win. Barca will steam roller them in the Nou Camp (they are back in it now, aren't they?) especially as Newcastle's away form is ropey.
Pool could well lose that tie. Last year, you would have put money on Liverpool resting a few and winning by 2 or more without too much hassle. This season, you would not be surprised if they lost. They 'should' win, but....
Arsenal got a soft penalty but I think everyone fancies them to win at home. Although 90% of neutrals are cheering for football and not Set Piece FC.

Is that the title race over? Citeh are so inconsistent and just don't have the cutting edge they used to. Just can't see them ovehauling Arsenal at this point.

Was very chuffed last night- we look a completely different team now and the centre halves have been incredible! Yes, it was backs to the wall for most of the game, but the levels of concentration, effort and grit were off the charts. Missing our current best player as well. We look a real team at just the right time.

Three or four things still in play imo.
If we win the league cup I reckon we win the league. If we don't it's open season. The match away to city is important, and if you (WH) still need points the penultimate weekend that could be a huge game. Palace away as well, but I'd prefer to have it tied up by then

Yes yesterday's result was a disaster all round 😂 I don't think I'm going to bother watching this afternoon's spanking

The fact West Ham, Forest and Leeds have all managed to draw this weekend is bad news for Spurs. Drawing our remaining 9 games would probably save us, but as long as I've supported Spurs game management is simply not in the "DNA" or whatever you want to call it of the club. It's always all or nothing with Spurs, and it's finally going to cost them dearly.

It was the best Spurs performance I've seen for quite a while, although saying that I thought we overall played pretty well against Atleti too apart from three comical mistakes. Is going to be an interesting end to the season for sure

Tactical question - everyone is complaining about boring set piece football. I'm sure I read a few weeks ago that Chelsea nullified Arsenal's set piece threat by simply putting a few players up field so they can't have 125 players in the box surrounding the keeper. Did it work? Why aren't other clubs trying it?

A couple of clubs in Europe tried it as well. Don't think it made a massive amount of difference, because as much as we had less attackers, they had less defenders 🤷‍♂️

Now this is obviously me only giving a fluff about Arsenal, but what is the point in England selecting Rice and Saka? Do they not know how they play? Have they not cemented their place in the squad already? Surely it would be better for them not to have another 90 minutes in the legs and to maybe, just maybe, look at other options?

You never know.... Liverpool are far from convincing at times and can be terribly wasteful.
That's the weirdest misspelling of "*****" I have ever seen

As for Rice and Saka @lejackal, I take your point, but is that new? Surely that **** has gone on for years and years? Pick the same big names every time and who gives a **** how many games/minutes they have played!?

Oh it's far from new, it just annoys me and has done for years, even when Arsenal never had players in the England team.

Sigh.

Pool's best hope of CL football is Chelsea and Villa being even more **** than they are.
They have, Fulham, Everton, Place, Utd, Chelsea, Villa and Brentford left to play. That's the teams, 3rd, 4th, (Pool are 5th), 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th and 14th. Sobozlai might be right, it may be a case of be happy with the Conference league (at best). Cos right now they don't look like beating anyone in the PL.

1point from Wolves, Spurs and Brighton hardly bodes well for playing those challenging for Europe.

I should probably apologise, I put a couple of Liverpool players in my fantasy team a couple of weeks ago and made gravenbirch the captain, so it was inevitable they'd turn to ****

That strategy hasn't worked for me with Arsenal yet :giggle:

Ehhh, by "a couple of weeks" did you mean October? They've been ***** since the sixth game of the season, and the first five were hardly ringing endorsements.

Ps, Gravenbach as captain? He's a holding midfielder. Always captain a forward or an attacking midfielder.

Although on the cursing things theme I actually had a think about what shirt to wear during the match. Current player? Past player? Blank shirt? Other team? (I have the really nice Juventus 3rd shirt from a year or two ago)

Anyway, I opted for blank shirt, can't curse anyone. I picked a keeper shirt 😬😂

Anyone else go through the same or similar dilemmas for big games

he was on a decent bit of form I think- pfft, whatever it was it didn't ******* work 😂

I don't wear football shirts while watching games at home but I have noticed a steady decline (understatement) in Spurs' performances since I started paying for both Sky and TNT Sports. So much for doing the right thing :cautious:

Arsenal in league cup finals - that's four on the bounce that we've lost, including one to Birmingham
Yep it's a tough pill to swallow, before the Europa League win last year Spurs must have lost at least a dozen finals and semi-finals without a win, luck plays a massive part in football and sometimes it just won't go your way (see yesterdays game against Forest)

Just realised England play more games than Man Utd between now and August! Decided to get behind this England set up, old Thomas boy has got England playing the best football since Keegan was in charge. Quite unbelievable really that the FA have managed to pick the same style of manager for so long, boring park the bus football. Although I don't really see England getting past the last 8 and I feel like boycotting the USA part of the World Cup, I am looking forward to it!

Man Utd should get top 4, as has been mentioned before the tallest dwarf race for the top 4 is looking interesting, Man Utd have had a huge advantage with literally playing the least amount of games possible this season, Carrick has reduced the training and given them 2 or even 3 days off a week since he came in. I can see Man Utd being in the same position as Newcastle this time next year, the players can't cope with 2 games a week let alone 3!

I have a feeling Villa may have a late up turn in form and can see Chelsea missing out on the 5th spot, Liverpool will get at least 5th, to much quality in that squad.

Arsenal better not bottle the league, if they get a draw against City they only realistically need 4 wins from there last 7 games, come on you can do it Arsenal. Surely Spurs won't go down, that squad should be able to manage themselves to mid table, they need to get down to IKEA and by some mirrors on this international break.

Good luck to Wales, R.Ireland and N.Ireland this week, would be amazing if any of them make it.

Exciting 4 months ahead, the wife asked when the football actually stops this year I said it doesn't really.

It's a right mix in my family, have Leeds, Liverpool, Man U, Sheffield Wednesday, Norwich and West Ham so can imagine what's it's like. Glad I don't follow Football lol
