Premier League 22/23 Thread

I feel for you @Cazza but as usual the officials bullshit their way out of it with an explanation that basically says if you stop a goal by falling on the ball with your arm it's not a pen and red card. We all no it is and will be next time. Only consolation for you is that every PL team has been done over at least once this season.

Just heard that Bellingham to Man City is basically done, we literally have our own Bayern Munich in the PL now.

Fat Frank is doing a superb job, give that man one of those eight year contracts Chelsea so love!

Anyone seen Chelsea's run in? Arsenal (A), Bournemouth (A), Forest (H), City (A), Utd (A), Newcastle (H). The four sides currently in the CL spots will all have too much for Chelsea, especially given their morale must be through the floor. That leaves Bournemouth and Forest, who are both fighting for their lives. I could actually see Chelsea not getting anything from their remaining games (though I suspect they will end up with 4pts). All we need then is Everton, Forest, Leicester, WH, Leeds, Bournemouth to find some form, totally likely, and Chelsea are down! Obviously it won't happen. 39pts will be enough to keep them up, but I can dream!

@Cazza, I have seen one **** angle of the penalty incident and it clearly hits his arm, below the shirt, zero issue there. No idea if the ref saw it but no way VAR could miss it. All I can assume is that as Thiago is falling (and he knows FA about the handball) that the ref uses common sense and realises there was nothing he could do about it. Being honest though, if roles were reversed I would be calling for a penalty there.

The issue is more what the **** is handball? Genuinely, does anyone know? They have ****ed around with that rule so much I gave up trying to understand it. Look at the goal that knocked Utd out of last year's FAC, the Boro boy controls with his hand, clear as day, Utd stop cos he blatantly handles it, he rolls it square to his mate for a tap in and the goal stands cos the guy who handled it 'didn't directly benefit from the hand ball'. Dafuq? His team scored as a result, is that not a slight benefit? Had that been Harry Maguire who handled it it would have been a free kick. But cos it was a striker, tis ok!
Or look at the daft pens they were giving at the start of last year for strikers flicking the ball on and it glancing a defenders arm. Even if he was 6 inches away and the ball was travelling. Penalty. I think Palace got one against Spurs (possibly Eric Dier). Utter nonsense and they soon had to stop giving them.

The whole handball rule needs sorted out once and for all. But I can totally understand why WH fans are pissed after that not being given. I wonder will PMGOL come out and apologise/say it was the correct call?

Where did you see/hear that?
I would have expected him to stay at Dortmund or another year. From what I have read, he doesn't like clubs like City/Chelsea/PSG/Real, he just views them as soulless. He's sure as **** not wrong with the first 3, at least Real have a bit of history.

Heard it on a media outlet from Germany that is rarely wrong and they don't wait for the main stream media for the tap in. It's not confirmed, it was described as Man City are close to confirming a deal with Jude Bellingham.

Well that was a game of two halves, the first time Spurs have looked decent for months. Too little too late of course, but an enjoyable match

Yeah very entertaining game, how Bruno missed that chance at 1-2 I will never no. That said Spurs missed some sitters. Newcastle are flying.

It's always easy to know when a team will have a mid season dip, just look at the fixtures and check they're not playing Spurs any time soon  I have no doubt Liverpool will make a miraculous return to their 2021 form for Sunday

I saw the last twenty mins of Spuds Utd and Spuds could have had four or five. But the Comms made it sound like Utd should have been out of sight by HT. Was a great game from what I saw.

Good to see Spurs returning to form just in time for Liverpool at the weekend. 🙄

Well I suspect at least one of us will be right on Sunday evening 😂 although I'd take a hard fought draw right now!

I have heard Real have more pressing needs, a striker to replace Benzema for example, than signing another midfielder. They bought Touchemi (spelling) for 90m last summer, and they have Camavinga and Valverde. But it's Real, logic doesn't apply. "Ohhhh shiny thing, must have."

If he goes to City, or Real, they will take some stopping. Him at City will make the PL a race for second place…..and that's always exciting.

The thing that pisses me off is he clearly wants to join Liverpool but money is the overwhelming factor. How much money does one person need? Like you said before, anywhere else for Bellingham is pretty soulless.

On another note, I hadn't realised that in 3 years Bruno has never missed a game for Man Utd through injury. That's some going.

The "money" issue isn't what he wants so much as what Dortmund want. Apparently Pool, offered 80-85m plus add ons and Dortmund countered with 130m …..plus add ons. That's the problem.
I suspect most contracts are agreed before fees are agreed. Clubs speak to players and agents have the bones of a contract agreed before they make an offer. No idea what Pool had offered to pay him, prob 200-250kpw plus bonuses etc. He could/will get more elsewhere but it sounded like he was keen on the move, albeit he would probably only have stayed for 2/3/4yrs.

It's frustrating to miss out on someone that good just cos of money (I know, "big club problem"). Especially as, had that been Utd, City, Chelsea or Real/PSG, the money would be there no problems. Pool are trying to compete with those teams whilst spending significantly less. That's NOT an easy thing to do.
But, at the same time, Pool need 2-3 new midfielders and possibly a CB/RB. The Bellingham fee (130m) would be the majority if their transfer budget and there's no way they can fudge and make do for another year.

In an ideal world some other foreign investor comes and buys a chunk of Pool and FSG give Klopp the money to spend and he does it on Bellingham (or Dortmund drop the asking price). Realistically, I expect him to stay at Dortmund. I dread him joining City or Real.

As for Utd's Freddy Mercury lookalike, fair ****s that is a superb injury record. But I do remember him having a big old dip in form at the end of his first full season at Utd, probably cos he was bucked from so much football.
Because he throws his arms in the air all the time and complains, never seen a footballer do that before. 😂
And the above is also very very true. He a sulky wee bitch who gurns worse than any one I have seen before.

Sounds like WH got done again today. Eze diving and the ref and VAR giving it despite, apparently, zero contact.
