Yes, not sure I get that one - I would rather those two over Sissoko any day - but old Poco seems to do pretty well in the transfer market so maybe he has a cunning plan

Yeah Sissoko seems like a panic buy almost. Frightening what you don't get for your money now.

I'm sticking my neck out and I'm actually going to say I'm happy with Sissoko joining us.

Sissoko was excellent at the Euros and very good when he first joined Newcastle too, I hope that Poch has the ability to get that player on the pitch as opposed to the one that drifted in and (mainly) out of games at Newcastle last year. If he does, he's probably worth the money in this crazy over inflated world.

Of course on the face of it he is pricey, but to my mind a big improvement on Mason (terribly out of his depth at the end of last season when he came in as cover for those banned and injured) and Chadli who had an impact as a sub, but wasn't a game changer and never a first team pick. I guess it has a lot to do with needing a CL team/squad and needing cover/pace across a chunk of the field and he offers more there than the other two.

God I hope I'm right.. :|

To be fair it wasn't just Mason, the whole team looked out of its depth those last few terrible games. I think the fact our keeper is captain says a lot, there is no experience on the pitch. So I would have quite liked Poch to pick up an older midfielder to take charge a bit.

Fair shout on getting an experienced midfielder in... Dembele though when fit and not getting banned should be the captain IMO.

North London team desperately seeking experienced, battle hardened midfielder that could also be a captain, anyone would think you pair were talking about Arsenal

If Pogba is worth worth 90 mill then Sissoko is worth 30! Imagine if this was true, oh it is.

Who will become the first £100 million signing?

Transfer window logic, move early and get Kante for 34 million. Move late and get Sissoko for 34 million.
I know who I'd rather have!

ORRRRRR you could have two Mario Ballotellis!

I thought it was a free transfer? Even so I wouldn't want 34 million Ballotellis

Haha yes very true, apparently they're not so easy to find!

Aye, Liverpool "sold" him on a free. In other words the only way someone was daft enough to want that waste of talent and space, was for free.
They did however pay 16 million for him 2 years early. Money well spent that!

Surprised there are no comments after this weekends games!

I thought the Utd v City game was brilliant. Good to see these two giants back to their former glory. Yes I know it's boring, but as I said last season the only reason Leicester/Arsenal/Spurs had a look in was because the real big clubs were out of form. Now they are firmly back on the map. I wouldn't be too disheartened if I was Jose.

Good to see Spurs thrash somebody, only happens about once a season

Arsenal win with a dodgy decision in the last minute of injury time, never seen that before (cough Leicester cough)

West Ham - WTF!? Bilic must be fuming. One of the most ridiculous goals I've ever seen...

...apart from Leicesters goal against Liverpool  seriously a moment of genius that was. But fair play to Liverpool for not imploding.

The only game I saw at the weekend was Pool against Leicester. Great pass by Lucas! No idea WTF he was trying to do but sure.
Good result for pool, I thought they looked good going forward. Shite at the back, but with your 4th choice CB in there, a midfielder playing LB and a muppet in nets that's always gonna happen.
**** knows why Klopp didn't sign a LB or first choice keeper over the summer. There was a bloke called Valdes floating about, I think he's won a few things in his time. Or even Joe Hart on loan. As for LB, my opinions on the failed abortion that is Moreno are well known.

Watched the game tonight, Liverpool and Man City best teams so far. Liverpool remind me of the Newcastle side of the mid 90's, beat anyone on their day. That said second half Liverpool showed they can dig in with organisation, no Europe, played 4 away games already including Spurs, Arsenal and Chelsea. I'm getting worried already.

Come on Everton!

Can't wait for Liverpool v Man City. :p

Yeap, I think Pool are going to be great to watch this year (for the neutral). There are goals in that side and they played some lovely passing stuff last night. Though, I don't think their defence is quite as bad as people make out. Yes, Mingers is **** and the less said about Moreno the better. But with Milner playing LB, and doing ok, and Matip and Lovern looking pretty solid as a CB pairing, I think they'll do ok. Given Matip has played 3 games in the PL, him and Lovern will take time to develop an understanding, specially with Milner trying to learn LB as well. They look promising, so far, though. Definitely an improvement on Skertl.

Liverpool are set up to go forward though and without a genuine holding midfielder will be left exposed at times. There should be plenty of goals in their games.

That is a great return from a nightmare set of fixtures to start the season. Arsenal, Spurs, and, Chelsea all away in the first five, and a home game against the champions is about as tough as it gets without literally rigging the draw.

Saying that, the one game they lost was the one game you would have expected them to win. No disrespect to Burnley, but aren't the same calibre as the other four. So I just wonder will Liverpool struggle to break down sides that just set up shop? Will Jose have taken note and employ his favourite, park the bus and hope to nick one, tactic in a few weeks?

It could well be a very interesting season with 6 sides all pushing for CL.

Chelsea looking good!

I saw first 20 mins of Utd game and it looked like one of those games where whoever got the first goal the other side's lack of confidence would cripple them. Utd scored first and leicester blew up. Had leicester got the first I could well have seen Utd imploding.

Looks like all the big clubs have finally got their act together in the same season, have to wait and see.

As for Chelsea, I can't understand how an Italian manager can manage a team that defends so poorly.

Someone better beat or at least draw with Man City soon!
