PL 2016-2017 Thread

Absolutely thrilled with the Spurs win, wasn't expecting it at all and thoroughly deserved IMO. To be fair Arsenal should have beaten Burnley but that goal should not have been allowed and as we all know possession and shots don't necessarily earn wins in this game.

Swansea sack Francesco Guidolin "after three defeats in a row." I mean come on, I know this is nothing new but you can't sack your manager after three defeats including a game where they actually played pretty well against a top side (Liverpool last week.) What is it with every team in the league having this sense of entitlement all of a sudden, is it Leicester's fault? I'm pretty sure most Swansea fans would have given their right arm to be 17th in the PL a decade ago when they were in League 1. There are at least 6 or 7 teams in the league that need to know their place and accept they will be fighting to avoid relegation. But I guess capitalism and never ending growth don't work that way.

I fear the Swansea situation had been decided before they lost 3 in a row, think they want Giggs in and we're waiting for half a reason. I agree it's a joke.

I was talking to a West Brom supporter today and I said you must be happy with how they have started. He said he was but a the majority of supporters weren't content and unhappy with their league position!

Or former USA boss Bradly.

Shows what I no.

Great result for Spuds and totally deserved. City got taught a lesson.

Utd should have hoked Stoke. The fact their keeper got MOT speaks for itself. Still nice to see Jose wheel out the excuses.

I watched Arsenal Burnley and can honestly say it was one of the dullest and probably worst games I have seen since I last watched LVG's Utd. Arsenal were the slightly less bad team but da **** did they deserve to win that. They created virtually nothing in 90 mins. Horrible way for Burnley to lose. The psychological impact of that is probably worse than a 5-0 beasting.

As for Swansea, i do feel sorry for Guidolin. They played well in first 45 against Pool and the penalty City got against them the week before was a joke. It's the definition of a 'big team decision.' ZERO chance Swansea would have got that at the other end. Even if they had been losing 5-0. It reminded me of the kind of soft as **** penalties Utd used to get at OT.
I suspect the new owners didn't want Guidalin and used that as an excuse to get rid of him and bring in one of their own.
Clearly Bradley is the man for the job. I mean he was managing in the French second division and everyone knows that's a great standard of football. I fear for Swansea now. Relegation must be a real possibility. Ligue Un, the French top flight, is a piss poor standard, Bradley has come from the league BELOW and is supposed to save a team in the most competitive league in Europe? Aye, dead on. Their best hope is there are three worse sides, and they may well be lucky in that respect.

... and as expected Spurs lose points against West Brom so soon after beating Man City.
Stoke, West Ham and Bournemouth to turn us over next, while we beat Arsenal, Utd and Chelsea???

Probably, although to be honest I'd be more annoyed if I was a City fan - what are the odds of the top team at home missing two penalties? Apparently much higher if it helps Arsenal  Far too early in the season to get annoyed about dropping points in away games, but all it would have taken was one point last season so they all count.

Two piss poor penalties by City as well. On target i guess but both at a nice height for the keeper. Annoying for anyone who had Aguero in FF, especially if they captained him, -1pt, or -2 if he was your skipper.

Anyone got any predicitions for tomorrow night? I'd say, on paper, Liverpool start as slight favourities. Home side and in better form. But i think a lot depends on how Coutinho and Firminio cope with having been away with Brazil. With lallana and Vineyard (you know who I mean) injured, Can comes in and possibly Lucas, or Coutinho sits deeper. If the two of them are still mentally on a flight over the Atlantic Pool will struggle. If they are on form, i think it could be a good game.

Cue a turgid, 1-0 win for Utd now.

Yep, I ended up with -2 for Aguero...

Really does look like the title race could be one of the best ever this season with at least 4 teams looking like they could go the distance. Looking forward to the game tomorrow night going to be interesting. When you look at the table it's a game Man Utd really can't afford to loose already? Still early days but I feel if Liverpool bring their 'A' game with them then I can only see one winner and I fear the worst, 3 or 4 - 0.

All that being said Man Utd did look good against Stoke and we should have hammered them, this fixture is rarely a draw in the league and if JM goes for the usual courteous tactics that he nearly always deploys in these games then their is every chance we could get a result.

2-2 I'm going for. :?

If Liverpool win Man Utd will be cut adrift from the top with a trip to Chelsea next weekend.

What a great team Southampton are, for the last 3/4 years they've had a great season and finished above most people's expectations only to then be stripped of their best players and manager! yet they still come back the next season at the same level.

Most other teams would be involved in a relegation battle but Soton are fighting for European places, brilliant stuff 8)

They've also got a great youth set up which probably helps.

No I'm not a fan although my team do also play in red and white stripes :)

Agreed totally on Saints. Good to see them doing well continually cos that is a very well and properly run club. No multi-billionaire foreign owner bank rolling them.

As for Jose and his usual park the ****ing bus and play for a draw, or hope to get a sneaky one on the break. It is very effective, or had been, but it's just another reason why I hate him. I know all Utd fans won't care what the game is like if Utd win (and the game goes for Pool fans and a Pool win) but if you are a neutral watching a Jose team playing an away game against a big rival is like watching paint dry. At least the likes of Pool, City, Arse and Spuds are normally fairly good to watch. Jose's teams r NEVER good to watch.

Yeah, so do my wee brother and another mate who I still chat to about FF. Had I still been playing, and had I had him, I probably would have captained him as well. Things like that really used to annoy me in FF

Is it just the Portuguese you dont like

Liverpool haven't exactly been rock solid at the back so I fancy some goals in this one..... 3-2 Liverpool.

Southampton are a credit to English football they always seem to choose the right manager as well. I saw a Southampton team of players who they have sold in the last 10 years, would have been some team. But credit to them even more for replacing them with quality.

Ruddy advert popped up covering half the screen and it wasn't one you could close, so I just closed the webpage. Dafuq am I watching an ad before I even get to read the article, especially when there are ads on the side of the page anyway. I hate those things.

Anyone who managed to get it without the ad, or who actually has an ounce of patience, wanna tell me the team? Lol

Lol, yeah it does seem like that given my hatred of Ballbag (Ronaldo) and Mourinho. I'm not a fan of Pepe either, but that surely isn't uncommon?
They are the only Portugese i hate, honest!
