Thought I'd start a fishing thread since the footie threads seems to be taking over this side of the board! :p

Here's todays catch, a 2kgs/4.4 lbs trout!
Was only going for a short trip, but ended up taking the boat.
When me and my mate drove to the lake it was hailing, then it started snowing(in mid-june!!!!!), the wind was cold as fu*k,
and not a single nibble until we almost got back to shore, pulled this little fishy up, and a 300gram trout just after.
4 hours, freezing my balls off, but totally worth it!

Awesome, T. I bet you have some magic country around where you are to go wet a line. Trout fishermans paradise.

Cheers Josh, sure do, just started fishing last year and loving it!
I mostly go for pike, char and trout, perch is also present, but they're no fun. :p
Would love to travel down under to get me a Barramundi sometime! 8)

I used to fly fish for trout as a kid. Haven't been in 15-20 years though. Still get out sea fishing maybe once a year or so, great laugh.

Done a fair bit myself. Did lot's of barra fishing when I was younger. Also worked on the Mackeral boats. Did a year on a gameboat going for Sailfish and Marlin mostly, which was lot's of fun. After that I did a bit of gillnetting for Threadfin Salmon and Barramundi.
Yup...slayed a few fish in my time  Seen some cool stuff in the process. Some monster crocs and sharks for a start.

I'm considering flyfishing, but getting the fly out seems like a hassle. :p

Nice, what's the biggest fish you've caught on a rod?

Big sleepy shark mate. We used to get them hanging around the boats all the time. Some of them were decent size. 7-8 ft.

Gamefish wise: probably 30kg sailfish on 10kg line.

Caught lot's and lot's of decent fish though. Big Snapper, Mackeral, Queenfish, Trevally, Barra, Mangrove jacks, Sweetlip. List goes on mate. Never did any trout fishing though. Always lived up North. Most of the places I worked when I was younger where in some of the most untouched places on Earth. Wasn't hard to catch a fish of decent size

Nice, trout fishing would be such a disappointment for you then :p
The norwegian record of trout is 33 lbs, and sea trout is 43.2 lbs.
I'm gonna try get me a salmon this summer, lots of fight in them, my toughest yet was a 15.4 lbs pike last year,
a real struggle getting him out of the water, ugly ****er that one :p

I don't know...I reckon I could handle it. Just been watching a few vids on youtube and it looks ace.

The best time of year for trouts is mid july, all fattened up and full of fight,
they can still wear you out regardless of the small size though.
I didn't think I would love fishing as much as I do now, hadn't been fishing since I was a kid,
but I got hooked and I almost lived by the river last summer. 8)

Here's a vid of me and my mates last year, took about 15mins to get it in the boat.
Me as the poor cameraworker..

Not me, but these guys are extatic!

Cool.
What do you guys say at the end there?

"Don't hang it over the side, the ****ing thing is going to jump out of the net"

Been at the lake this weekend, and got myself some nice chars, 2 at 1kgs each, one at 1.5kg, and the big one in the second pic
is a whopping 2.5kgs!!! There has been alot of talk that there are big chars at this lake, but never caught anything but pikes there before,
so me and my mates went for a 2 day trip and thought we'd give it a go.
After a few hours of trolling getting nothing, we got off the boat and started casting from the bank, and I caught these two beauties at 4 am:

The next day, we went out a bit earlier, and we caught one char at 1kgs and one at 2kgs, then the wind picked up so we went to the cabin
to rest and eat.
We went out around midnight again, and around 3 am I got the big one in this pic, my heart just about stopped when I saw it jump out of the water!
That's a HUGE char, and I went mental for a bit when I got it up, may put up the vid if I don't act like a total tool on it :p
