So the film that left me traumatised as a child was watching little monsters staring Fred Savage...
I was about 10 years old when I watched it - Afterwards I was a nervous wreck for weeks.
It's currently on Netflix at the moment, so I watched it a few weeks ago, and to be honest, I can see why I was traumatised

Thinking back I'd say the witches and gnome king in the wizard of Oz movies.
Sloth and his family but I liked Sloth in the end once he held the big rock up for his friend Chunk.
Those big hairy monsters in the Snuffs.
Invaders from Mars
Nosferatu
But then as things cranked up a gear! You had .
IT
Pet Sematary
Freddie
Jason
Horace Pinker
and who could forget Chucky.

The odd monster thing sent to earth in the last star fighter. Don't know why but it did.

I also watched predator (and robocop come to think of it) far too young but seemed to be ok with that.

Jaws! That head popping out of sunken boot scared the sh*t of me. I still don't like the deep end in the swimming baths LOL!!!

Id have to say arachnophobia, i was only 8 when it came out and my sister made us watch it one night when she was babysitting me..... i couldnt sit on the toilet for weeks, not liked spiders ever since!

Poltergeist 3 scared me big time with its use of mirrors - made me scared to use a mirror(!) for ages afterwards! In fact the character 'Kane' generally freaked me out.

Cracking idea for a thread!!

For me it was a really silly one, I used to stay up late every Friday & watch all the vampire & werewolf films on the Friday fright night, never had any problems with it, then one week they put the 1958 "the blob" on, dam that **** had me scared out of my tiny little mind  at least with vampires & so on you always had a deference, this dam Strawberry jelly could get you anywhere & no way to fight it, under the doors up the toilet, I remember sitting on the loo putting towles down at the bottom of the door & peering down the loo to be sure for bloody weeks  watched it again when I was a bit older & was in stitches.

Same sort of thing with the later film the Stuff -

Both very laughable films as an adult

Hammer House Of Horrors.... Christopher Lee as Dracula, they were the ones that scared me as well.

IT was the one that got me - made even worse by the fact that we watched in whilst on French Exchange so it was all in French - which made it scarier as I had no idea what was going on

Other one I remember watching when I was about 10 or 11 was one of the Nightmare on Elm Streets where he knocked a guys head clean off - that gave me bad dreams for weeks

To be honest I say away from that sort of film now - just don't get why people need to be scared shitless to have a goof time - give me Forest Gump any day

Return to Oz - the witch with all her different heads in glass cabinets, freaked me right out.
The people under the stairs - the horrible creepy couple and his gimp suit, proper wronguns.
A lot of the Stephen King and other horrors of the time like It, Pet Cemetary, The Shining etc, all put the shits up me.

At least I now know I wasn't the only one that watched that **** when I was younger
The preacher definitely did spook me alright when I first saw him.
A few more I now remember,
"V",
American werewolf,
The Oman 1 & 2
The Thing ( CPR Scene )
The Twilight Zone
I also remember having arm wrestling competitions in school and then having flashes of Jeff Goldblum in a dark bar doing the same. Then I would hope nothing would snap on me when I felt the pressure on my arm.

  So I wasn't the only one who retired from arm wrestling after watching the fly...

Ok it's not a film but I have spotted these and i don't think they would be very productive for a young child.

  funnily enough that was the only thing I was good at in class   everything else went out the window!
Did you ever play mercy? Basically interlocking your opponents fingers with yours then twist, bend , snap, or dislocation if possible. First to submit was the loser. The finger next to my right pinky never recovered from that game. Looking back ligaments and bones can withstand alot of unnecessary pressure. It really is crazy some of the things humans do to themselves

As soon as I read the thread title I thought of the head popping out on Jaws. Scared me big time. Also my grandmother let me stay up late one night and the Omen was on which still freaks me out today.

Great thread.

If anyone can help me identify this film I would appreciate it.

Must have been 5 years old and my dad had a video on in the pub. For whatever reason he never stopped me watching it. But i remember zombies in a hospital or similar facility, possibly on the moon. It gave me nightmares and I've never forgotten it. Just don't know what it was. This would have been circa 1981.
