Anyone else feel a bit lost with vintage?

Dealers...makes them sound like they are some kind of drug pusher!

Which to some extent might actually be a fair comparison! :D

But in all seriousness, I have no issue with the fact that toy dealers exist. They often have the time, know how and foresight to find the pieces an ordinary collector like myself may not have. They've helped me out loads over the years with pieces I've been after.

My only issue is greed. But that's not just something just a dealer may have. In fact over the years I've suffered more from other collectors' greed than from a toy dealer.

I love the top bit and I cant argue its a great comparison.....sometimes when I have great product I do wonder if people need the item more than they do food, alcohol or their daily hits.........it is very much like a drug this collecting carry on.......but its a great life dealing........I havnt quite got my 6 supercars sat on the drive yet though.... :D

Before I upset anyone else - the knock knock joke was a bit OTT, I do apologise ;)

I know that not all sellers have the mentality of the wannabe dealers of today. Those people are greedy muppets and not much more. As Ben said, there are genuine legends out there like Matt Booker, David Tree, Iain Sanderson etc and I'm sure I can include Darren (starzone) and many other long timers too but those people were not the ones I aimed my posts or OTT joke at and should take no offence (or notice).

No worries Joe, I found it amusing actually.
Come and say Hi at Celebration...I.C.Toys stand N106.

Its all good banter... :D

I'll stop by and say hi, be warned though I'll be armed with this:

It still won't be up there with what I witnessed with Jason pointing and gesticulating at Chad on the afa stall in Anaheim. I had some great pictures but I lost them sadly. An angry mr palitoy with hands on hips and the Americans not quite sure what to make of him.

Gosh no, I will have some great product with me but the 5x30bks have been sold to a collector Ive known for years in Asia, Hes only recently got into buying SW, as hes been a collector of tin toys/ diecast and tv related items for years but now hes investing well into SW.
I will be straight with you guys, I know I have a few more 30bks, but it is only a few, and once Ive got a price for these, I will offer them for sale.
They might be at Celebration, Im not sure yet as I know my customer would like first crack at them.

One thing for sure I will have plenty of product for sale at Celebration including many rare items.

What I can't get in my head is how can there not be any pics of these 30 backs it makes no sense whatsoever??? I think myself and others are starting to doubt they exist, so come on Ian send us a pic so we know they're genuine, I'm sure the buyer would be more than happy to take a quick pic and forward to you. :D

Andy, I dont really care whether people think they exist or not, and lets get real...do you really think as a businessman Im going to go to my customer and ask for pictures just to put on a forum to prove their existance...No..! is the answer.
My buyer has been a good client of mine for many years with many different product and I deal with him one to one, he doesnt need peoples opinions, nor photographs, I give him a list on email and he tells me what hes interested in, I then deliver him the products and if hes happy, he then pays me....simple...!
He has a lot of trust in me as if I say an item is Mint, it will be.

The real problem is Andy, there are certain people in this collecting game who know Ive got great product in fantastic condition and have tried their hardest to give me a load of flowery words so that they get the items for nothing basically.

Unfortunately, Im a very fair easy going guy and many dealers/collectors will tell you that, but they will also tell you Ive heard it all before and Im far from being a fool.

Now I really understand why I use auction houses and other dealers to sell my product......!

Finally, So regarding 30bks just lets say they dont exist.......then everyone will be happy... :D

I've just read this entire thread in one go. :?
All I can say is that our collecting world is as diverse as the real world. Not everyone has to agree on things. We all do things a bit different. Every now and then we have ups and downs. You certainly don't need to drop big money to enjoy collecting. In my entire time collecting I've gone above £299 twice and not once over £401. Now to some that's crazy money, to others that's change. But I'm pretty sure no one enjoys and appreciates their own collection more than I enjoy mine.
Having said that, I'm currently on my way out of the collecting doldrums due to the current market. You do have so be so much quicker, richer and constantly connected to the Internet to get what you want nowadays. I've only bought 1 MOC this year due to finances and even that got returned cuz it was a fake. I'm on my way out of the doldrums though due to looking forward to Celebration with you guys in a couple months.

At last the truth is out, at least we all know now. :D

Good luck with the sales at CE though, shame you haven't been able to get any ESB stuff.

I think its rather pathetic and childish you wont show pictures of said 30 backs, they are bloody action figures and not crime scene evidence. Seems to me you are quite a pompous, arrogant person and one of the bane's of this hobby. I personally wouldnt want to deal with someone like you who thinks they are the Top Dog in the hobby, because you are what is wrong.

Instead of clearing up a long term question of figure releases, you class it as top secret. To you its about money, nothing more.

Yeah your right its about money to me as this isnt my hobby, its my business...!

Plus what people think of me doesnt faze me, Ive been called worse :D

Regarding the figures as I mentioned in my previous post......they dont exist...

I thought this forum was for people interested in learning and adding to the hobby, I don't really see the point in joining if you have no interest in either.

Funny how short people's memories are as I don't remember people giving Ian such a hard time last year when he posted some stuff for sale at very reasonable prices. In fact, they were so busy not complaining that everything was gone within a couple of hours ... Now everyone has found out he's sold some rare items that people didn't know about or weren't prepared to match his valuation of he's the bad guy. Funny eh

I think you'll find Ian won't be selling them at that price again here or anywhere and that's the point I think his prices were fair then for ungraded examples and that's why they sold (No Vectis fees and no ebay fees - cash only). Unfortunately he has been caught with the grading bug and whether you agree or not he wants a lot more for them. Plus no one is begrudging him selling some supposed rare 30 backs, well done to Ian if he got amazing prices. For me it would have been nice to see pics of them as if no one ever claps eyes on them then they might as well have not existed.

I made my point, I'm not going to speculate on what he might or might not do in the future for items he might or might not have.

Not sure there was a valuation to match btw, but congratulations on making your point.
