Premier League 22/23 Thread

More great BBC coverage @lejackal apparently Tottenham and Spurs are playing tonight!

Similar to Brighton ATM, but polar opposites. Saints punched above their weight for a few years. Either the academy has dried up or they have had a few bad windows and suddenly they are looking like the Championship is calling. Brighton have done the opposite and are looking like a class act. In 2-5yrs they could well be where Saints are now.

Saints and Spuds both had complete shockers mind. Apparently SU rested 5 or 6 players as well.

ANOTHER 98th minute winner for Arsenal. **** me, the luck they have had this season is unreal. It's making Leicester's title win look like a foregone conclusion.

Assuming all this good luck is going to be followed by a period of bad luck, they'll do well to stay up next year.

And Moyesy must be due the sack now. I dunno what's happen at WH, kinda similar to Pool, but they have dropped more and from a lower base. Moyesy seems to have lost the fans and it's hard to argue the team are playing for him.

Bloody Arsenal, that said I would prefer them to win it than City. I still think City will probably do it. Big game for both Pool and Utd tomorrow, Liverpool showing signs of recovery watch them hit form tomorrow and smack us up 3-0.

Agreed, better them than City, and I still expect City to win it. Zero chance Pool win tomorrow. They are a shambles and Utd are actually looking like a half decent side. Utd score first, and Pool seem to like shipping the first goal and it could be 3 or 4.

Yep, just good luck, nothing to do with being a decent side or anything 🙄
Lol, touched a nerve have I? Lol
Arsenal are a good side, I don't deny that, but that's two winners in the 98th minute, added to various other strokes of luck (that all seem to decide games). They are easily a top 6 side, but give them the luck Pool, Utd or Spuds have had and they are nowhere near 5pts clear. I'm not even sure they are top 2

😂😂😂Smack us up 3-0 I wish, credit to Liverpool second half they were back to the best I've seen them play for a while. Back to the drawing board for Ten Hag, he has been grinding out results but he got it massively wrong today, McTomanay on for Fred at 3-0? Conceded 17 goals in the last 4 games against Liverpool.

Jesus ****!

I didn't even watch the game, still refusing to watch Pool and I fully expected Utd to win. No idea how you ship 6 goals in the second half. I have seen the goals themselves and there are a few properly ropey bits of defending, and (TBF) one or two that are down to fortunate deflections or the ball dropping kindly for Pool. I'll take it, obviously, but no way in hell did I expect a result like that.

Fair point, Utd have been grinding results out, or getting a bit lucky depending on your point of view, and they have played a fair few games but even so I did not expect them to implode like that. Pool played more games last year and they never imploded like that. Yes, they have had a (relatively) shite season, but there haven't been any implosions like that. I guess it just goes down as one of those freak results that happens from time to time. In all seriousness it may actaully be a good thing for Utd. Obviously they would have preferred it was ONLY 3/4/5 but it will stamp out any of the nonsense about "Utd are back" or "Utd are gonna win a quadruple" etc. They have done bloody well this year, ETH has done a superb job (between him and the Brighton boy for Manager of the season, so far, for me) especially considering the mess he inherited. BUT Utd are still a work in progress and they still have a long way to go. That defeat will stop the excitable fans and the players, from thinking they are better than they are.
Although, obviously I am hoping they play like they did in the 2nd half in every game left this season and end up relegated. I can dream.

Ohh and Bruno Fernandez should be banned for that dive when Konate's hand brushed his chest. To go down holding your face is pathetic. VAR cant do yellow cards, but the FA/PL should step in and make an example of him. I'll ignore his "push" on the linesman, that was a nothing, and probably just from frustration, but that dive was pathetic. As was his 90mins performance from what I hear

Chelsea through to the CL quarter finals because of a penalty, which was missed and then awarded a retake due to encroachment! OK both decisions were probably correct, but who wants to bet that Spurs don't get that kind of luck tomorrow night (or ever!?)

You seen the penalty? Yer man's hands are down by his side and he is 3 yards from Chilwell who whacks it straight at him. NEVER a penalty. Then Haeverts misses it and fair ****s 2 or 3 Dortmund boys have encroached, but ehhh they are following in a Chelsea boy who is at least a yard ahead of them. How his encroachment doesn't count but theirs does, I will never know. If it's just cos the Dortmund boy who cleared it had encroached and he is only counted as active once he clears it, then I fail to see why it matters as there isn't a chelsea boy within 5 t=yards of him. So, if he wasn't there the ball would have rolled out to another (of 2) Dortmund boys who were outside the area and they would have cleared it.

I didn't see the game, Chelsea may have deserved it, but the pen and retake were an utter joke.

Ohh and a bizarre statistical quirk, we are fast approaching one calendar year since Liverpool last got a penalty in the PL.
In that time Fulham have had 7, and they were in the Championship last season FFS.
