I thought it would be nice to have a thread that Weasel can contribute to  I have no idea what this competition is about, but I watched a few games over the weekend and enjoyed them.

England were pretty good against Spain I thought, a draw would have been fair. Pretty sure VAR would have given the equalising goal that was disallowed.

Cracking goal from Eriksen yesterday, I hope that doesn't mean he won't score for Spurs all season!

Yes I enjoyed the games to, I've tried to understand how this competition works and from what I read is League A which has 4 groups in it including England's group. The 4 winners of these groups go into the semi finals which will be played in June 2019 along with the final. I'm not going to try and explain any more. It's on Wikedpedia.

Better than the meaningless friendlys anyway.

Not a big fan of this new nations league crap.

UEFA say it's to remove meaningless friendlies and provide more competition. Which it should do. BUT what it also does is limit the chances of big sides (like Italy and Holland) missing out on tournaments again. Which by default means it's now harder for non big sides to qualify. Usual UEFA BS look after the big biys and **** the rest.

That's the end of this thread then!

I don't have a problem with the qualification from the Nations league because their is 24 places to fill now anyway. Surely all the 'big' nations will qualify every time now no matter what? That friendly last night was pretty boring between England and Switzerland.

Yeah it's a bit **** to have the games so spread out, October and February for the next ones I believe?

Yes although Spain played Croatia last night, I guess that's International football during the season. I do like the fact that their will be less friendly games, something I like about Rugby their is always something to play for.

It is a bit meh though I think, but to be honest unless it's a Euros or World Cup international football is a bit rubbish.

Why couldn't we have played that Croatia in the semi  Tournament football is at least 50% luck, only a league where you play many games over a long period of time really proves anything

I'm also not sure I understand the format that's being used, and noticed that our, (Scotland's), first game of the weekend was a friendly, so it appears that the friendliest are still happening, maybe just not in the numbers that they previously had.
I'm hoping, as the games go by, that I'll eventually work out what's happening with the league :)

A lot of groups only have three teams, hence there will still be friendlies played on the game weeks when one team has no scheduled game.
