Euro 2024 chat & predictions

Southgate is he any good, the team are they up to it, blah blah bla, let's all get in the moment ! England are in the final, and there is 90 mins ( hopefully) for us to play to our strengths , let's stop with the typical English negativity and get in the moment we are in the final … we are there, France are not, Germany are not,Italy are not ….But we are !

We are going to to score one more goal than you ! COME ON ENGLAND…. ITS COMING HOME..ITS COMING HOME ,!

I want England to win, and if they do it will go down in history as an amazing achievement, a win etc etc

However, you cannot ever convince me that team is playing well. It's not nice to watch.

Mourinho ball is effective (well, was) but **** me it was not inspiring or fun to watch.

Sometimes in life it's not about the intricacies and the ins and outs of how a situation arises, it's about that " moment in time" irrespective of how that moment comes about, as said England are in the final, that is a fact
We play Spain and historically people will not dissect how we got here, but will discuss and evaluate the performance in the final, that's what we need to concentrate on.
Let's for once get behind the team, irrespective of how we got to the final, we are there, we have the chance, let's take it with both hands, autopsies and recriminations can come afterwards, again…. Come on England!

Nothing to reflect on, Southgate should be sacked, the FA should get a coach in that picks the best in form fit players, not his mates. A coaching set up that plays a modern style that fits the players we have. NOT a style of play from the 1980's and instructs the goalkeeper to kick it long.

Football won tonight, Spain won by playing attacking football against a team with better players.

The entire tournament has been embarrassing for England. Don't get me started on the main stream media coverage telling us Southgate has done a good job, the same main stream media that were questioning Ten Hags position after winning the FA Cup, **** off with your biased entitled opinion. Southgate is a **** coach and has wasted the last 6 years with a group of players that have won everything at club level in that time. Embarrassing.

Obviously gutted but I agree the best team of the tournament won and it would have been a bit of a joke if England won a trophy for playing so badly against such an easy run of teams, arguably The Netherlenads and Spain were the only two serious games they had to play. I wonder if Klopp fancies an international job!?

It must be nice to qualify for tournaments. Sigh

Last night was pretty much as expected. No changes bar Shaw starting….his first game since Feb (Dafuq was he taken and not the 3rd best English actual LB. And "no" Gareth, Kieren Trippier does not count!). And would you beleieve it, England played the same brand of turgid eye gougingly dull football they played in the previous 6 gmaes. It's amazing, who would have seen it coming? Ohh yeah, any ****er who had seen them in this tournament.

Harry Kane played an hour and managed to be worse than he had been up to now. He's a great player, but he has been appalling in this tournament. He is clearly not fit. Southgate deserves stick for still playing him despite everyone being able to see he isn't fit. But Harry Kane needs to have a long hard look at himself. He must know he isn't fit and is ****ing his team. Anybody with a degree of self respect would have said "boss, I'm not fit/playing ****, we will be better off with someone else starting." Especially if you are captain. Your job is to set the tone. When you jog about and let Spain play it out from the back every time you are shafting your team.

One, or two bad games you can accept, everyone has them, but when you have had 6 in a row and look no better in number 6 than in number 1, you need to do the decent thing. Assuming the manager doesnt have the balls to drop you.

Zero chance of Klopp. He wants a break. I saw the shortlist is Potter, Howe, Pottchetino, and Tuchel. Pretty sure 3 of them would say "no thanks". Plus Tuchel is a moody ****er. That leaves Potter. You could do worse, but you could do better too.
The FA will probably give Southgate a nee contract anyway, so it's academic.

Southgate gone! Probably the right decision but I do agree with what a lot of people are saying, international football is not the same as club football, you can't expect a manager who gets a couple of weeks a year with his team to get the same cohesion a club manager gets. It's just not going to happen.

What you mean like Spain and Austria @edd_jedi 😂 I kind of agree, but there is 0 excuses for the way England were set up to play, Southgate can go and have a nice retirement now, is a nice fella and deserves it.

Spain looked good but I think most people agree that nearly every team looked bang average at these Euros - France, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, and of course England. Despite being laden with superstars. I agree it's the managers job to make them play as a team, I just don't think it's realistic to expect that with so little time.

Thing is, if you're managing Serbia (other small nations are available), you probably don't go all out attack. You try and play a tight, disciplined game, you set up in a low block and probably look to counter, or for a set piece opportunity.

If you've the talent available that England has (other top tier nations are available) then you should be looking to play more of an attacking game. No, you haven't got time to bed in the intricate patterns of play from tika taka, death by a thousand passes sides, but you can play with a high press, you can be energetic and you can take the handbrake off. You have to put players in their best positions, you should have enough depth to change it up if needed and you need to trust they can deliver.

To coin a Wengerism you need to play with the handbrake off. International football from the top sides should be more akin to the Barbarians in rugby, or the globe trotters in basketball. People want to see two sides managed by Kevin Keegan, not two Mourinho sides boring each other to death.

Belgium looked **** cos their golden generation was wasted by Bobby Martinez and the few that are left are all too old. Germany looked ok. They were the victims of a very debatable non penalty award against Spain.

France were **** though, as were Portugal, due to the man baby. Holland aren't great, a few good players, and a few pretty dam pish ones.

Southgate did well over all, BUT given the draws he got, the squads he had and the level of International teams in general, he really should have done more. He wasn't "bad" but he wasn't "great" either. A middling 6 out of ten ish from me.

Poch, Tuchel, Howe, Potter, Gerrard or Lampard for the job. Apparently. The first three will hardly want it and whoever suggested the last two needs help.
Other rumours of Dyche, and Klopp. More chance of me doing it than the latter. Not sure Dyche is quite what England want, but they could do worse.

My money would be on Potter or Howe.
