This has been a labour of love, I bought it as non-working back in January and had to replace practically everything to get it working. But this new LCD screen looks a million times better than the original one so it was worth the wait!
Amazing!

I saw this in the window of CEX while I was walking to the supermarket this morning, it looks unused so I couldn't pass it up! Makes a nice change to the filthy/knackered stuff I usually see in CEX shops

I feel sorry for whoever they paid 50p for it😂

looks like a stunner though!

Not added anything of note for a while so I'm really happy to add what I'm pretty certain was the first issue of Crash Magazine that I bought back in the day and a Nintendo promo copy of Shadows of the Empire book

A bit of a new 'focus' for me, I wanted to get a NES but after doing some research found that the Japanese Famicom AV 'top loader' console was a better option (more reliable, better video output, and much smaller.) So I've ordered one of those which is on its way now, in the meantime I've ordered a handful of Famicom games for it. I love the different coloured shells and the artwork on the labels. Some of these were only a couple of quid each so it's a nice little cheap run to do.

They look great together. A famicon is still the only way to play the original super mario bros 2 as well without emulation

I love the Japanese box art @edd_jedi
I bought this a while ago purely for the box, might get a Jap cube one day to play it on 😂

New addition to my consoles, a Japanese NEC Core Grafx (PC Engine.) I've always wanted one of these because of the Bomberman series, I was tempted by the Mini version that came out recently but this came up on eBay UK at a good price with an Everdrive so I grabbed it. Speaking of mini, look how small it is, it's barely bigger than the controller! Very cool little thing.

Excellent score Edd, I remember reading you could hook up a load of multitaps and have massive bomberman multiplayer games. I always thought that would have made an excellent birthday party when I was a kid m.

Yes, one strange thing about these is they only have one controller port, so you need a multitap to even play 2 players! Next on my shopping list, the only problem is controllers for these are quite pricey so don't think I can justify buying another four!

The Famicom arrived today! If you've never seen one before, these later models came with a SNES style controller. It looks so good on the CRT  and look how small it is next to the Mega CD!

My latest project, I bought this knackered Game Boy Pocket from Facebook for £10 including postage. It didn't even turn on so the seller had no idea if it worked, I thought it was worth a gamble for a tenner. When it arrived it was apparent there had been a battery leak inside, lots of horrible blue corrision all over the board. The screen was also badly burned from somebody leaving it in the sun once upon a time.

I cleaned up the motherboard with isopropyl and got it to power on, but even after removing the burnt filter the screen was beyond repair. So I ordered this new clear blue case and an IPS screen, and am very happy with the finished result!

I was so impressed with the GBP screen that I ordered new IPS screens for my GBC and GBA as well. Wow, what a difference! The kits are all quite cheap, around £40 for each screen and under a tenner for the new shells (you can use original shells but they need cutting.) Some soldering is required though so it's a little tricky to install them. There are sellers on eBay selling complete upgraded systems for about £100-120 each, unless you fancy the challenge or already have old consoles lying around I would advise buying them pre-built to be honest as the cost is about the same as sourcing the console and all parts separately.

I've started collecting N64 CIB games this must include the cartridge bag. I kept the 3 Star Wars games from my original gaming days and added Battle for Naboo to complete the Star Wars set. Then decided to add games I owned back in the day and now decided to add games I wanted but never got….slippery slope this is. lol. Can't believe how reasonable they still are, it's like collecting MOC in the early 00's.

Got these the other day, both complete with manuals and unbroken cases. I actually wanted Virtua Golf but discovered it was never released 🤦‍♂️

They look in great shape!

If anyone is looking to sell PS3 games please send me a list with prices. Looking to boost the collection (currently have around 200 titles). Doesn't matter is they are UK/US/JAP.

All these older consoles making me want to get my old machines out and get some new titles, must resist!!!

How much entertainment can you get for 35 quid? This much apparently:

I don't normally pick up disc only bundles as most of the time the games are crap and the discs are fooked but I've wanted Gauntlet for a while and seeing as it's now a 30-50 game on its own I thought this was too good of a deal to pass up. As an added bonus the discs are super clean!

Last year Sega released the Astro City Mini which is a tiny version of the famous 90s Astro City arcade machines (I remember Sega World being full of them.) What I didn't know until a couple of weeks ago was that they also released a full size arcade stick to go with it! As soon as I saw these I wanted one, but they were sold out everywhere. I found a seller in France on eBay with some, and due to the shipping cost it was almost the same price to buy two, so... 😊

They really are incredible! The joystick and buttons are genuine Sanwa which is what real arcade machines use, and the housing is HUGE (photo next to a Neo Geo joystick for scale) and made of metal! They are USB so work fine with my PC, so have been playing some Capcom games. Best thing I've bought for ages!

So do you need the mini AND the stick, or does the stick have built in games?

No the stick is just a USB controller, it works with the Astro Mini but also some other USB consoles (although apparently it doesn't work with PS or Xbox for some reason)
