This has been a labour of love, I bought it as non-working back in January and had to replace practically everything to get it working. But this new LCD screen looks a million times better than the original one so it was worth the wait!
Amazing!

I saw this in the window of CEX while I was walking to the supermarket this morning, it looks unused so I couldn't pass it up! Makes a nice change to the filthy/knackered stuff I usually see in CEX shops

Not added anything of note for a while so I'm really happy to add what I'm pretty certain was the first issue of Crash Magazine that I bought back in the day and a Nintendo promo copy of Shadows of the Empire book

A bit of a new 'focus' for me, I wanted to get a NES but after doing some research found that the Japanese Famicom AV 'top loader' console was a better option (more reliable, better video output, and much smaller.) So I've ordered one of those which is on its way now, in the meantime I've ordered a handful of Famicom games for it. I love the different coloured shells and the artwork on the labels. Some of these were only a couple of quid each so it's a nice little cheap run to do.

New addition to my consoles, a Japanese NEC Core Grafx (PC Engine.) I've always wanted one of these because of the Bomberman series, I was tempted by the Mini version that came out recently but this came up on eBay UK at a good price with an Everdrive so I grabbed it. Speaking of mini, look how small it is, it's barely bigger than the controller! Very cool little thing.

Excellent score Edd, I remember reading you could hook up a load of multitaps and have massive bomberman multiplayer games. I always thought that would have made an excellent birthday party when I was a kid m.

Yes, one strange thing about these is they only have one controller port, so you need a multitap to even play 2 players! Next on my shopping list, the only problem is controllers for these are quite pricey so don't think I can justify buying another four!

The Famicom arrived today! If you've never seen one before, these later models came with a SNES style controller. It looks so good on the CRT  and look how small it is next to the Mega CD!

My latest project, I bought this knackered Game Boy Pocket from Facebook for £10 including postage. It didn't even turn on so the seller had no idea if it worked, I thought it was worth a gamble for a tenner. When it arrived it was apparent there had been a battery leak inside, lots of horrible blue corrision all over the board. The screen was also badly burned from somebody leaving it in the sun once upon a time.

I cleaned up the motherboard with isopropyl and got it to power on, but even after removing the burnt filter the screen was beyond repair. So I ordered this new clear blue case and an IPS screen, and am very happy with the finished result!

I was so impressed with the GBP screen that I ordered new IPS screens for my GBC and GBA as well. Wow, what a difference! The kits are all quite cheap, around £40 for each screen and under a tenner for the new shells (you can use original shells but they need cutting.) Some soldering is required though so it's a little tricky to install them. There are sellers on eBay selling complete upgraded systems for about £100-120 each, unless you fancy the challenge or already have old consoles lying around I would advise buying them pre-built to be honest as the cost is about the same as sourcing the console and all parts separately.

I've started collecting N64 CIB games this must include the cartridge bag. I kept the 3 Star Wars games from my original gaming days and added Battle for Naboo to complete the Star Wars set. Then decided to add games I owned back in the day and now decided to add games I wanted but never got….slippery slope this is. lol. Can't believe how reasonable they still are, it's like collecting MOC in the early 00's.
