Where the **** do I start?
Best team won, comfortably. Fair play.
Utd ripped Pool apart in first half hour. It was actually the carbon copy of what Pool did to everyone else last year. Pool had no answers and Brendan didn't seem to keen to make any changes (tactically) to nullify it. Pains me to say it, but that's the sort of situation Jose would have reacted to straight away.
Gerrard had to go. Red card, and 3 game ban, all day. Idiot. I thought his first tackle was fine, full blooded, but fine. I have seen people booked for that but that doesn't say much. Then he stamps on Herrera. Muppet.
At that point the game was there for Utd's taking. They really could, and should, have ripped Pool apart, destroyed their confidence and all but knocked them out of the CL running. Instead they went two up, through one of the best finishes I've seen this year, and then took their foot off the gas.
Fair play to Mata. The boy is quality and has been criminally under used by VG this year. Both those goals were great, the second was proper special. That deserved to win any game.
Ballotelli coming on was Rodgers waving the white flag. He was booked straight away and could have been booked again later in the game. As a Liverpool fan i cant say a single good thing about him. He refuses to run, ever. He slows up attacks. He's selfish on the ball. His attitude sucks. And he is our back up striker
I thought De Gea should have had Pool's goal, but maybe i'm being harsh.
A few strange decisions by the ref, Allen got the softest yellow i've seen in the first half and then Jones and Fellaini got away with poor tackles ten mins later. Saying that it didn't affect the out come of the game, even though Jones was booked later in the second half. Pool were poor. Or Utd didn't let them play delete as appropriate.
As for Skertl. Yeah, another stamp. Another idiot. Another 3 game ban coming his way i assume. Just waiting on Jose chirping in with some comment about it. After costa getting a ban for stamping on Pool, that wanker will be all over it. Skertl deserves it tho. No need, no excuse.
Ps, Rooney was lucky not to get booked for booting Mingolet, but it was just a yellow.
As for Pools next game, i think they need 7 wins minimum from their last 8. I can see Utd dropping pts at City and Chelsea. Pool REALLY can't lose next week. In fact a draw is prob not even enough.
Could today's game gave gone ANY worse for Liverpool? Lose to your biggest rivals, shoot your CL push in the foot, have your captain red carded after 33 seconds, have another player looking at a similar 3 game ban and your next game is away to Arsenal where you probably have to win and so far this millennium you've managed to go there and win twice.
I don't think the top four are set in stone YET but the odds favour it, prob 60:40!?
