Premier League Discussion Thread Season 2014-15

And two minutes in to the City - West Brom match the referee sends off the wrong man, not only ruining the game but with potentially serious consequences for West Brom. Seriously when is this idiocy going to end?

Hat trick for Kane! So Spurs now have the league's top goal scorer yet as usual are the highest team in the table with the lowest goal difference. It's not rocket science is it? I've given up caring this season now because we're not going to make top four, but this back four need to do one. I really hope the Wimmer rumours are true, but one new defender isn't enough. Keep Rose and Walker as wingers, but they are not defenders. Dier, Fazio and Vertonghen can go on free transfers.

And add Chadli to the free transfer list, that's two open goals he's missed in this game!

I wasn't complaining, i have Dawson in my FF squad.
Bit of a harsh red i thought. If that happened anywhere else on the pitch it wouldn't be a booking yet cos he's last man it's a straight red. I know rules are rules, but it's just bizarre how anywhere else on the pitch it's just a foul yet he got a straight red.

Harry Kane sounds a bit ehh "special" or like he's had a couple of strokes. :?

No what you mean, wish he was playing for Man UTD tho.

I'm going 2-2 tomorrow.

Would certainly take that now. :?

Big game, but a lot depends on how both get on in the next week. If Pool lose, they have to beat arsenal nxt week. If Utd lose they need to beat at least one of city/chelsea. A draw and both teams kick the can down the road for a week.

On form you'd go for Pool. They are at home as well. But then it's effectively a derby and form goes out the window.

Must have been reading the forum

With yesterdays incident, I am not sure the referee would have used video technology - it was a clear sending off and in his mind (at the time) he had the right player - why would he need to refer that. So then we have the case that the video referee would need to intervene - which doesn't happen in a lot of the other sports that use video replays

I get a need to use it - but am just not sure how football would implement it

There are many ways it could work but step one would be to allow the 4th official, who already has a monitor at his disposal (god knows what for), to alert the referee to any incidents or mistakes. He can currently see, say, an off the ball foul, a off-side given that clearly wasn't or, of course, the wrong man being sent off, whoever, he is not allowed to alert the referee via his earpiece. That to me, and almost everyone else in football, is insane.
To allow this wouldn't change that game at all except that 80% of incorrect decision would now not happen, just for some simple back-up from someone on the sideline with a monitor. It's so simple it hurts to think about what goes through the heads of the ladies that don't want it. David 'the moron' James yesterday was incoherently ranting about technology being used 'what it will eventually lead to is not having refs and bleeps and lights and buttons all over the stadium deciding everything'. Seriously, he really said that. That's the kind of intellect we are dealing with from those opposing such terrifying changes.

Bloody hell, Gerrard sent off after 30 seconds! How the hell do you make two stupid challenges so quickly, must be some kind of record!

I am in stiches here. That is one of the funniest things I have ever witnessed on a football field. Comedy gold!

Gerrard is having quite a funny end to his career. Costs his team the title one season and top 4 the next. I bet they'll be sad to see him go.
