I mean, seriously WTF!?
They played a horrible horrible brand of brutal GBH football and even at that they barely had a chance in the second half, it was all Pool.
Carroll hit the bar aye, but so did Suarez..........twice!
Mingolet wasn't exactly over worked in the Pool goal. As for "gifted two penalties" the second one was soft, no arguments there, but **** me, the first one is as stone wall as they come! There's not even any case you can make for it being a gift.
I should have explained better - I am not saying West Ham should have won, what I mean is they played exactly the kind of football a mid-table team should against the top team - as you said yourself, tough, brutal football. That's what Spurs and Arsenal should have done against 'pool, there's nothing wrong with a point sometimes, but there's a lot wrong with conceding 5 goals!
And IMO refs should use a bit of discretion with penalties. As I said above we all know 50% of penalty decisions are pure guesswork anyway because they refuse to use video replays, so with that in mind I think it is very harsh for any ref to award two penalties to one team in a single game, that is pretty much game over.
I completely agree Edd. I thought West ham had a gameplan and it worked very well indeed. One of the better defence performances v liverpool this season IMO
I do actually see Edd's point. Tho i'd re-word it (for fear of upsetting Weasel further). West Ham did well. When you look at the teams Liverpool have torn apart this season, Spurs and others West Ham did well to resort them to scoring penalties to win the game. Without those two rather avoidable and clumsy penalties Liverpool wouldn't have won. Maaaaaybe a draw had Suarez been allowed to pass but that's about it. They were playing well enough but it just wasn't happening for them. West Ham do that. Fat Sam gets a lot of stick but he does what he does very well. West Ham were many people's favourites to go down both before and during this season and despite criticism from both the media and his own fans, to the point of being booed after a win (they should be ****ing ashamed!) he is going to keep them up. Add to that the fact that they have kept the joint 2nd most clean sheets (with Arsenal. Chelsea have the most) in the Premier league this season (amazing!).
While all the other clubs around them have lost their heads bringing in Swissy Von Foreignson to save their team from disaster (or ex footballers who look like elves with no premier league experience whatsoever  ) West Ham have kept theirs and will stay up because of it. If only other clubs could learn from this. But they won't.
