Edd.......did you actually watch the game? WH played "very well"? WTF!?

I mean, seriously WTF!?

They played a horrible horrible brand of brutal GBH football and even at that they barely had a chance in the second half, it was all Pool.
Carroll hit the bar aye, but so did Suarez..........twice!
Mingolet wasn't exactly over worked in the Pool goal. As for "gifted two penalties" the second one was soft, no arguments there, but **** me, the first one is as stone wall as they come! There's not even any case you can make for it being a gift.

I should have explained better - I am not saying West Ham should have won, what I mean is they played exactly the kind of football a mid-table team should against the top team - as you said yourself, tough, brutal football. That's what Spurs and Arsenal should have done against 'pool, there's nothing wrong with a point sometimes, but there's a lot wrong with conceding 5 goals!

And IMO refs should use a bit of discretion with penalties. As I said above we all know 50% of penalty decisions are pure guesswork anyway because they refuse to use video replays, so with that in mind I think it is very harsh for any ref to award two penalties to one team in a single game, that is pretty much game over.

I completely agree Edd. I thought West ham had a gameplan and it worked very well indeed. One of the better defence performances v liverpool this season IMO

I do actually see Edd's point. Tho i'd re-word it (for fear of upsetting Weasel further). West Ham did well. When you look at the teams Liverpool have torn apart this season, Spurs and others West Ham did well to resort them to scoring penalties to win the game. Without those two rather avoidable and clumsy penalties Liverpool wouldn't have won. Maaaaaybe a draw had Suarez been allowed to pass but that's about it. They were playing well enough but it just wasn't happening for them. West Ham do that. Fat Sam gets a lot of stick but he does what he does very well. West Ham were many people's favourites to go down both before and during this season and despite criticism from both the media and his own fans, to the point of being booed after a win (they should be ****ing ashamed!) he is going to keep them up. Add to that the fact that they have kept the joint 2nd most clean sheets (with Arsenal. Chelsea have the most) in the Premier league this season (amazing!).
While all the other clubs around them have lost their heads bringing in Swissy Von Foreignson to save their team from disaster (or ex footballers who look like elves with no premier league experience whatsoever  ) West Ham have kept theirs and will stay up because of it. If only other clubs could learn from this. But they won't.

Ahh, with you now. Yeah, as far as setting out to win/get a point or at least not get a hiding goes, WH did a decent job of it. But then if you were to pick a manager to set a team to do that Fat Sam would be near the top. I agree a point isn't always a bad result (with the greatest respect) especially if you're WH playing one of the CL chasing sides.

Not sure I agree on the penalties point. If it's a foul, it' a foul. Look at the Utd v's Pool game from a few weeks ago. Two of three penalties were nailed on. Ok, the Sturridge one looked to be a dive, but then Carrick cleaned his legs out 3 mins later and that wasn't given.

Sunderland were woeful last night. Hard to actually judge Spurs on that performance cos Sunderland looked every bit a team of squad players.
I can't see them staying up now.

Whoever loses the Fulham Norwich game this w/e will join them.

I was completely emotionless during and following that game. Completely fallen out of love with Spurs this season. It's been the worst in memory in terms of the level and severeness of our failure. That game didn't change a thing. Every single game we have left should be one we win. But we won't. We'll probably **** up at least 3 of them.

Is Bert Raccoon going to be binned off at the end of the season? Spurs have surprised me by their poorness this season. It doesn't help that you have a madman running the club!

Yeah, great score line in the end, but I didn't even roll my eyes or get angry when the opening Sunderland goal went in, this is what I expect from them now. The back four are not just crap, they are absolute clowns and possibly the worst in the league. No other teams concede goals like that, I wouldn't expect to see pub sides do it, let alone professionals.

Still, nice to see a few goals go in at least.

I actually laughed. Didn't even care. Actually went into the game knowing we might get beat and it wouldn't have surpassed me. The bottom club in the Premier League.
Good result in the end but i just don't care. My spirit has been broken. :(

I know you said "prefessional" and he is clearly a chancer, but we do pay him!
He'd slot in to that Spurs back line nicely.

Ps, Fair play to Chelsea, great result. Wasn't pretty and PSG didn't turn up, but a win is a win. Good luck in the semi's.......you may well need it!

The scum starting to get twatted now - very pleasing! Bets on them to win or draw has been money well spent!

I wanted them to get through. I always support english teams in the premier league. But their defending is a shambles. Would be no different if they played none at the back. Just left 4 players on the bench. I reckon the score would basically be the same.

Was I the only one seriously unimpressed with Bayern? Ok, Utd had a game plan to sit deep and look to play on the counter, so by default Bayern weren't going t get a huge number of chances. But, **** me that first half was as dull and poor as I've seen this season.

Utd shot themselves in the foot letting Bayern straight back into it, I'd be looking at Evra for two of Bayern's goals as well. Still, over 90 mins Bayern were the better side, they had this novel idea of passing short and to someone in a similar coloured top, not the aimless hoof that seemed to be Utd's default pass. Even at that Bayern weren't great. One of the best teams in Europe my arse!

Completely agree. I find Peps idea of football very boring. They only spring to life when the opposition score!

Happy with our performance over the two legs TBH. Its just a story of "what if" welbeck had buried that chance in the 1st leg and what if we hadnt conceded so soon after taking the lead?

Agreed on it being a good draw for Chelsea.

Is Courtis allowed to play? Does that mean the Pool Chelsea, or Sunderland Chelsea game gets moved?

So Liverpool v City this weekend, what do you reckon? I think it's too close to call, a draw is unlikely with all that firepower from both teams although that would obviously suit Chelsea.

Tough to call. City at home i'd go City every time but City away are a very different side. You couldn't really seriously pick them to win. It'll probably be a draw but who knows. If Liverpool win it that would be huuuuge for them. City would be happy with a drawer whereas it doesn't really help Liverpool. It basically hands the title to City.
