Premier League 22/23 Thread

Well Klopp did well in the end, so I woudn't mind giving a Bundesliga manager a go (Nagelsmann.) I think it all comes down to two things - will the new manager be backed, and will they be given time. Arteta has proven that previous success means nothing (just as Conte and Jose have) so I just want somebody with a bit of desire and doesn't immediately blame the club when things don't go well. Obviously Poch didn't get the backing he wanted or deserved, but we've spent a reasonable amount since, and I can only think of a couple of players that worked out. There's some serious dead wood to get rid of, one thing I hold against Conte is not giving the likes of Spence, Gill etc more of a chance, instead relying on ageing stars or long-timers that most people can see are past it.

Nagelsman wouldn't even consider Spurs, unless they offered silly money and ehhh while Spurs aren't a poor club Levy is hardly going to want to fork out for someone on silly money given he's not going to give them the near blank cheque they need.

They can certainly approach Nagelsman, but I suspect when (if they get that far) they get down to the details he will laugh at them.

Another farcical charge from the twats at the FA

Potter sacked as well, after 7 months and no pre-season. Probably not the right man for the job anyway.

Yeah he just seemed well out of his depth from day 1, massive mistake leaving Brighton

Chelsea are being run badly all the same. £200 million spent on Tuchel last summer and sacked within weeks. £200 million spent on Potter in January and sacked 2 months later. Don't think the owners are strong enough and the fans don't except a manager who sees it as a 2-3 year old project.

Potter cost Chelsea 21m in buy out clause plus he was on a 5 year, 12m per annum contract. So 60m in wages for 6 months. I'd happily take abuse on social media for 6 months at 10m a month!!!

Nagelsman to Chelsea will be Chelsea's hopes now. I suspect he will wait to see what Real are doing. Chelsea are a shambles now.

Leicester have a big call too. With Maddison and Tielemans both away this summer regardless of whether they stay up, next year could be a case of aim for 17th and hope. Unless they find money from somewhere. What manager is gonna want to take over that? Cue fat Sam (rolls his eyes and groans)

I suspect he would view that as too big a step down. I don't see much attraction in the Leicester job for any manager they would want. Given the state of their squad and their finances they probably need a fire fighter rather than the more 'progressive' type they probably want.

We have no manager, a suspended sporting director and some major injuries, but even so that was about as limp a performance I've ever seen from Spurs. They hardly proved Conte wrong with that shower of ****, didn't even deserve a draw against 10 men tonight. I can't think of another PL team that looks so frail at the back against ANY team - I mean, if a Sean Dyche "10 men behind the ball" attack makes you **** yourselves, what hope have you got!? Spurs might be 4th at the moment but at this rate they're heading for a mid table finish, and that's not even me being dramatic.

You can join Liverpool (in mid-table). It's ****! Lol

I see Harry Kane is rightly getting some abuse, long LONG overdue, for being a diving cheating wee toerag. Yes, there was contact and that is, by the letter of the law, a red card, but **** me there was not enough contact there to send a grown man to the ground and keep him there for a few minutes. Do that to someone in a pub on a Saturday night, or on any high street and how many dive to the ground like that? ****ing none.

I don't doubt dozens and dozens of other players would have done the same thing in his place, but that doesn't excuse his (latest) attempt to get someone sent off and generally just being a thoroughly dislikable wanker.

It also looked like he made the initial foul and the block on Dacoure wasn't the prettiest, albeit not deserving the reaction it got.

I do think football need to look at the 'hand to face = automatic red' thing as some are far far from violent/dangerous and also the fact that players (Kane in this case) feel they need to go to ground to get the offender sent off. I do have sympathy for him in that had he just stood there and effectively said "WTF was that" the ref probably wouldn't have sent Dacoure off and that can't be right. But I also think OTT reactions like Kane's last night and Neymar's anytime anyone comes within 10 yards of him, should also be punished.

Lucas Moura…..you idiot! That was a red all day long.

Well it's the same for penalties, if you don't go down they don't get given (even with VAR!) so the exaggerated injuries have been going on since before Kane was even born. And I think he did get a yellow card for the build up foul. And yes Moura, WTF, way to lose your team 2 points 🤦‍♂️

Aye, the pens thing is true.

Mitrovic gets an 8 game ban and the FA want more. I thought 8 games was harsh.

Really harsh on Mitrovic, should have got player of the month, the officiating has been crap this season and any abuse they get although wrong it's completely on their incompetence that they don't get any respect from players. It's farcical the way they are protected by the FA.

Di Canio's was worse though, he literally shoved Paul Alcock to the floor. Not to excuse Mitrovic, but his was feck all compared to that. We all know if that was a big 6 club the FA would do **** all squared, they are just making an example out of Fulham cos they are seen as a soft touch.

I agree on the standard of refereeing, albeit it is more when the refs that work the VAR than the on field ref, but they are the same people.

If the FA/PL want to protect lower league refs by making an example of someone in the PL, why not wait until the next time a big club has half a team round the ref all swearing in his face (Utd and Chelsea were particularly bad for this years ago) then send them ALL off. A big club having 4/5/6 players sent off will send more of a message than giving a stupid ban to Mitrovic. Hell the FA can even ban said players for 6 or 7 games too. Watch the respect the refs gets sky rocket, or at least the abuse they get die off.

And yes, I know a team going down to 6 players means they forfeit the game. But if the FA warned clubs pre season this was going to happen then a forfeiture would be entirely the club's fault and would make even bigger headlines. But nah, let's just **** Fulham, cos everyone will remember that happened in a week's time
