Premier League 22/23 Thread

Were they really only 33/1 before the season started? That surprises me, considering what I posted above (eg anyone outside the top 4 being 1000+/1)

It was after we signed Jesus but yep, 33/1

It's the first time I've bet on the league outcome for years but I do remember after Leicester win the league they slashed the odds on outsiders for every season since.

Yeah that makes sense because I'm sure I read that Leicester were 5000-1 at the beginning of that season!

Aye there were.

Ohh for a time machine. Place a few £100 bets of them to win it and sit back and wait.

Unlucky Arsenal were I thought, lucky goal from sporting and they basically fouled their way through extra time. You can concentrate on stopping Man City do the treble now.

I missed the game, but I had Arsenal down as favourites for that competition, along with Utd. If they end up winning the PL they will hardly care.

Vieira sacked. Not sure quite what Palace expect, they are a mid-table-lower mid-table side. Pretty much exactly where they are in the table. Ok, no wins in 12 is bad, but I think they had a fair few tricky games.

Still, all set for Steve Bruce to come and rescue them!

And by "rescue" I mean save them from the hell of the PL and take them back to the bottom of the Championship, before they see sense and sack him.

Hopefully, loosing a couple of defenders may be more costly than losing the game.

Sacking St Pat on his special day is a travesty - not to mention we get to play them with the oft fabled "new manager bounce"

City Bayern and Chelsea Real. Ouch. City/Bayern could not have got a toigher draw, and with those two gone Chelsea couldn't have got much tougher than Real. Napoli, maybe, but that's hughly debateable. The fact that the English sides are due to play in the semi's makes it even tougher.

The other side of the draw is barely EL standard in comparison. Benfica, AC, Inter and Napoli. Do UEFA want an Italian side in the final? Napoli will NEVER get a better shot at winning the CL. They are safely at the top of Seria A and have a dream path to final where they will play a side who have had to fight tooth and nail to get there.

Utd get Sevilla. Not an easy one either. But I would fancy Utd to win that. Then Juve or Sporting in the semi's. Not sure Sporting can fluke that far, if they do they won't fluke past Utd, and Juve are a fading force (and good ****ing riddance).

WH get Gent and then AZ or Anderlecht. I know FA about any of those sides beyond what country they are from. On paper WH should win, their budget alone is bigger than half the teams in the CL FFS

We owe Seville one, they've knocked Man Utd out more times than Mike Tyson knocked out Frank Bruno.

I checked when the draw was made Seville are 13th in La Liga.

Perfect draw for Napoli and surprised Man City didn't get Shackter Donetsk!

Ehhh you owe Sevilla?
I give you Liverpool and Real Madrid. Those ****ers haven beaten Pool in two finals and in the knock out rounds twice in the last six years. The only other team to beat them…..Atletico Madrid.
Hateful city.

As for City, they do tend to get quite tough European draws. That almost cancels out their continued cushy domestic draws.

Do we cheer for City?
As a Liverpool fan, I have only cheered for Utd twice (against Barca in '92 and against PSG a few yrs ago) and I rarely cheer for Chelsea, hateful shower. Up to now, I have cheered for City but they are starting to bore me. Their bottomless pit of money and financial cheating means I struggle to want them to do well.
Them not winning the CL would be funny.

For the record, I happily cheer for Spurs, Arsenal and any other English side in Europe. Assuming they aren't playing Pool. Up to now I had also cheered for City, but I think this could be the turning point. I'm bored of them ALWAYS being up there and the fact they have now been charged with financial doping….

The alternative of cheering for zeee German's (Dafuq am I cheering for Real) isn't overly appealing. They are a club who utterly dominate/destroy their own league, but that's not a league I follow. Lesser of two evils.

Personally I want City to struggle all the way to the final, extra time is essential for progression every round and then they can lose to Benfica

I can't really watch Man City any more, let alone cheer them on for the UCL. Over 100 charges of cheating and they could do the treble……….

And I don't want to win the league by default that they get a deduction, I want to be clear champions on our own merit

How would you be clear champions on merit if they are worn out from playing more games :ROFLMAO:

They're not really going to dig up Hodgson again for Palace are they? He was great in his day but he's 20 years too old now, looked like he was about to collapse last time he was on the sideline. Why not call Fergie!?
