Premier League 2020/2021 Thread

Liverpool seem to be imploding at the moment, and I still can't figure out quite how or why? They have such a good squad, and yes, they have some injuries, but 6 straight home defeats? Really?... REALLY?... I never thought I'd be asking this, but how many more results like today's until Klopp gets the boot?

As for Spurs, some truly shite (as in non-existent) defending to gift Palace an equaliser today, but otherwise a very good attacking performance deserving of the win... It's only taken them a third of the season to remember how to play again! Still, I'm not complaining; Bale's found his form and scoring boots once again, Moura and Son are both superb, and Kane's simply on fire at the moment! His first goal today must surely be a goal of the month contender, if not goal of the season contender! What a screamer!

Bring on Dinamo Zagreb and Arsenal!

Yes an excellent victory and performance, great to see Bale back to his best, hopefully shuts up a few of the doubters. And that goal from Kane was one of the best I've seen.

Anyone still think Pool will make top four now!?

Yes if they sack Klopp and get big Sam in! lol

No seriously they are still only 4 points off top 4 albeit Chelsea have a game in hand, if Chelsea draw with Everton tonight you still have a chance. As I said before you will probably end up winning the CL and qualify that way! Its unbelievable how they have lost 6 home games in a row at home, makes you wonder if something has happened in the dressing room?

With 10-12 games left to play anything can still happen, I think Crystal Palace can still mathematically win the title  But yes some big games coming up in the next couple of weeks

And a great quote from Jose last night:

"I was told we have now scored 100 goals in the season which for a very defensive team, a very negative team is not bad."

Yeah, more of this safety first mid 2000s football please!

Yeah 35 goals in the Europa league and 6 against Man United against 10 men and the worst Man Utd defence ever! lol Only joking I think Spurs are the 5th highest goalscorers in the PL? Jose still needs to change his style IMO, Man Utd's style of play under him was appalling. Seems he's turned it around for now at least.

Agree. NO idea what it is. How do you go from unbeaten at home for nearly four years to losing 6 on the spin? And quite a few of them where to side you should be thumping. Injuries have crippled Pool, BUT 6 on the spin!?

He won't get sacked. He will walk long before that happens.
I've said it before, but at Dortmund **** went south very quickly and he couldn't turn it around. Same is happening at Pool, albeit with injuries and COVID complicating things.

Have you seen Liverpool's form? that's 3 wins in 13 or 14 PL games now. To close a 4-7pt gap over 12 games they would need to hit title winning form. At least 8, more likely ten wins. At the minute I can't see them making the European places at all.
As for winning the CL, ehhh have you seen Bayern? Or City? No way Pool are beating either of them over 2 legs.
I would say whoever scores first on Wed night wins. Leipzig get the first goal and Pool will fold. Pool score first and Ze German's need 4, that won't happen. Should Pool win, they will get Bayern in the next round, it's a cert. FA is going for them at the minute.

Things can change quickly weasel form is temporary, I can't bring myself to finish that sentence when it's about Liverpool!

Yep and speaking of form arguably a couple of teams above Liverpool have been punching above their weight for a while, so I think there's still all to play for. Any of the top ten could easily have a good or bad run coming their way.

Lol, Liverpool won't make Europe this year. If they do it will be the final EL spot and even that is huge ask right now.

This has to be the worst PL season for quality ever, I mean apart from City the rest are complete shite. Not taking anything away from West Ham either they have done really well. Just saying as a Man Utd supporter, we literally go into every game and it's 50/50 who will win and we are second!

Man City were crap until December and they're still walking the league.

Well it doesn't get much worse than that - an own goal, a penalty, Son injured, Lamela sent off, Kane's equaliser ruled offside and then hitting the post in the dying minutes. Just one of those games where nothing goes your way. And we were complete **** to boot, aside from Lamela's goal of the season. Arsenal were the better side for all but the last 15 minutes so can't complain about the result, but I have to agree with the forceuk above, it looked exactly like what it was, two **** mid table teams scrapping.

I did LOL at Lacazette giving it the big one to the camera after scoring his penalty, I think I'd be a bit embarassed after the 'shot' that led to it  seemed harsh for the ref and VAR to give a penalty considering the ball was already heading out of the stadium.

Only seen Lamela's goal.....not bad...and his second yellow. The latter looked a bit harsh. On another day that's "Man the **** up Tierney, and play on." Although someone on Twitter reckons Lamela had a few other fouls so maybe it was a build up of niggly fouls. Though as it's Twitter, Intake it with 17 pinches of salt.

Quite a good set of results for Pool. Chelsea draw, Everton and Spurs lose. Utd playing WH as we speak. So.......watch Pool revert to type and lose to Wolves.

Can't believe we're still 5th  So many results going our way. Everton and Spurs lost 👍 Man U having the best of it but they're not getting it all their own way. We're keeping them out.. for now. COYI ⚒

We started well, but have gone completely negative for the last 20 mins. Hope we attack second half.

Looking forward to watching Lamela on MOTD tonight. Goal sounds special- I remember him doing that in a European game a few years ago. They said on the radio that he was playing on the edge the whole time, do once he had the first booking, it was a matter of time.

Man Utd are so bad, could do with Rice instead of Fred, West Ham will probably snatch a draw and rightly so.

Right result. We were much better after the subs, but still didn't create much. Man Utd weren't much better, but edged it. Lots of cynical fouls from Man U.

I didn't see the game but the stats say WH didn't have a shot on target.
That is piss poor. As a Pool fan, I can confirm not having a shot on target is a good way not to win games.

As for Lamela's goal...... it's good. Very cheeky, great initiative. But, I don't quite get the 'greatest goal ever'. Maybe it's me but I much prefer a 30-40 yard screamer into the top corner.

I'm pleased Man Utd won, that's a huge step towards top 4 and yeah Man Utd did edge it. Henderson had his pipe and slippers on for 90 minutes, think it would have been different if Lingard was able to play. If West Ham had played with more intent on attacking it would have been interesting.
