Premier League 2020/2021 Thread

Yeah this weekend's results reminded me of last season's finale, several teams in touching distance of the top four but all trying their hardest to **** it up.

Yep, Chelsea have got a nice easy run now but they have City, Arsenal and Leicester amongst their last few games so anything could happen still. Despite the shocking performance against Arsenal I still think Spurs have as much chance as anyone to snatch fourth as they've already played Chelsea, City and Liverpool twice so on paper have some winnable games coming up. But we will see, I would much rather we won the League Cup and finished 7th personally.

Even if Arsenal were 6th?

I would mate! Time to win a trophy. Nobody cares who comes 2nd, 3rd, 4th etc. Champions League (and Europa League) football is nice, but I strongly feel at the moment the highest priority for Spurs is ANY trophy (apart from the Audi Cup  ) Spurs were one of the best teams for a few seasons, but nobody cares about you being one of the best teams.

I hope Spurs win a trophy as well as that means City don't win all 4! Interesting to note that if Spurs and Liverpool both finish outside the top 4 but win a European trophy then they will take 4th places Champions League spot, or even 3rd if they both win one.

City, Bayern, Chelsea, Pool, PSG, Real, Dortmund, Porto.

Not a bad last 8. I'd take anyone bar the first two. Ideally avoiding Chelsea too as Pool Chelsea in the CL has been like pulling teeth before, and they play two and a half times a season anyway. I'd rather see them play someone different.
PSG will be tricky as they are great up top and Pool have a ropey as hell CB pairing. But then PSG play in a farmers league and any side who can play in 4th or 5th gear for 90 mins will always have a decent chance against them.
Real are not a patch on the Real of old, Dortmund are good, but at this level, nothing special. Ditto Porto, but slightly less "good".

Real Porto is probably odds on. With 1 English side getting Bayern and the other two drawing each other.

Ah come on we all know City will get Porto, the money got transferred this morning.

Seriously it is a good line up though, take out Buyern and it's hard to pick a winner.

City only get cushy draws in domestic cups. In Europe they tend to get stinkers.
Assuming they avoid each other, City Bayern is the obvious final. It should be a great game too.

Can't agree with that City aren't as good as their form shows IMO. They're pretty much the only club in England that has 2 teams that can compete, but anyone can beat them if they show up. All the other English clubs are screwed squad wise, apart from Chelsea who if they had had Thomas Tuchel from the beginning of the season would be up their with City challenging for the title.

I really hope I'm right! Lol

Don't forget Pep has only won the champions league twice with one of the best teams ever, with one of the best players ever at his peak.

Who am I trying to convince here!

EL draw and prediction

Ajax v Young Boys - Ajax
Dynamo Kiev v Villarreal - Villarreal
Roma v Shaktar Donestsk - Roma
Olympiakos v Arsenal - I mean we can't get knocked out by them again.....
Dinamo Zagreb v Tottenham - Tottenham
Manchester United v AC Milan - Zlatan
Slavia Prague v Rangers - Rangers
Granada v Molde - Molde

Fairly confident we can beat any of the other 7 on our day

Ajax
Villarreal
Roma
Arsenal
Dinamo Zagreb
Manchester United
Slavia Prague
Granada

Yeah Arsenal and Man Utd can beat anyone on their day but is wining the EuropaLeague/Fa Cup once every 2-3 years and never getting close to winning the CL or Pl what these two clubs should be settling for. I mean Arsenal finished 8th last season and they are 10th now. Both clubs are run like alcoholic landlord runs a pub.

We need to win the EL to get back into the CL first

I know we've been run badly but it does feel, to me at least, like things are changing for the better. Time will tell and now Arteta is getting a few more results I think he'll get at least another season or two to deliver CL football

I agree but again Arteta is in the same position as OGS both trying to manage with both arms tied behind their backs! Nice draw for Chelsea!

We've lined up a potential semi final with Villarreal who are now coached by arch villain Unai Emery. What could possibly go wrong :?

Anyone heard from edd_jedi :? :?

I saw a few minutes of the game but ehh that is a piss poor result.

As for the draws, happy with Pool's draw. Not the easiest (Chelsea got that) but not the hardest. I just hope I don't have to see that bastard Ramos celebrate at the end.
City Bayern in the semi's could be good! If Pool and Chelsea make the other semi (Pool game is fairly close to a toss up, Chelsea should win fairly comfortably) at least Tuchel and Jurgen will make the games a bit more exciting than the Mourinho Rafa borefests that we got for about four years. Have I just jinxed it!?

As for EL, Utd should win that whole competition. No one else in there they should fear. Arsenal should probably make the final, theirs is an easier run to it than Utd's. I guess anything can happen on the day in a final. Twill be nice to see two English sides in a final though.

Anyone see the "tackle" yer Rangers boy got his red card for, and yer man's face afterwards!? Ouch!

Not seen the Rangers highlights, heard they were down to 9 men. Man Utd should at least get to the final, but I'm not doing the arrogant Man Utd fan response as we could easily go out to Granada, especially if the players are as complacent as they usually are against the lesser sides.

Pleased with the draw though, that's our reward for knocking out the 7 times European Champions! lol

As for Spurs, what can you say, Jose is finished as a top coach IMO. Saying that I can see him parking the bus against City in the league cup and snatching a 1-0, we all complain about how he sets up his teams, but it really is the best way to beat any Pep team. I can think of 2 occasions when he has done it against a Pep team in a final or Semi Final and won. It's how Fergie beat Barcelona in the 2008 semi final 1-0 over two legs.
