PL 2017-2018 Thread

I feel really sorry for Northern Ireland. If a bad decision can be the difference between being in the world cup or not, that is not acceptable. It's annoying enough when it costs you a couple of points in the league, but missing out on an entire tournament is unforgivable. Decisions like that should be retrospectively reviewed and the match replayed.

It's worse than that though. Most of our team is mid to late 30's, those boys won't get another shot at. We're not England we don't qualify for most major tournaments. I wouldn't be surpirsed if 3/4/5 of our squad retired and Michael O'neil will be pinched by someone else. The guy has worked miracles after all.
So that decision has not only cost us any shot at a WC it's probably signalled the end of the team and of NI as a team who could challenge for qualification spots for tournaments.

Just another 30 years to wait for it to come round again. Assuming i'm still alive.

Don't forget the Euros is now 24 teams, so I reckon you have a good chance of qualifying for them. Ok it's nort a World Cup but their is still hope for those players.

Yeah, it just has the feeling of an end of an era. I have a horrible feeling a few retirements and Michael O'neil pissing off then suddenly the total lack of strength in dept in our squad will be exposed and the international wilderness will welcome us back.

North London derby tmoz...
Which manager is under more pressure for a result, for different reasons?
Wenger - cannot afford to drop any more points ( more so to spurs)
Potch - spurs to really make a statement that they are gaining the upper hand?
Fascinating I think... And add the fact that it's normally a free flowing/ high scoring derby game!
Im going score draw 2-2. but I have a feeling arsenal may nick this by 1 goal.
Hope the early kick off doesn't ruin it...

PS yes I'm a nuetral in this fixture :)

Spuds will win. Head and shoulders a better side than Arsenal. One team is on the top the other has been on the slide for nearly 10 years.

How **** is Sisoko? There's 75 mins gone and all he ahs done is give it away, give it away and over run it. He is literally on a different eave length to every other Spuds player. Utterly woeful.

Kane didn't look fit but how Sissoko avoided being subbed so far is beyond me. It gets the ball and 3 mins later Spuds get it back from Arsenal.

While we're on the subject of terrible refereeing, lets call that 0-0 if a competent ref was on the pitch. Two stone cold wrong decisions there. At least Spurs were playing **** so can't feel too hard done by, they wouldn't have won anyway. Agree with Sissoko, I have no idea why Poch keeps playing him. Alli was particularly wank today too.

Yeah, ehhhh what do I know.

Feel a bit sorry for Spuds, the first came from a free kick that was never a free kick. I said that as soon as that twat Mike Dean gave it. It looked every bit the great defending it was. Saying that, Spuds were piss poor. Worst I have seen them in a long time Arsenal were definitely the better side and deserved the win. I can't remember Spurs creating much in the way of clear cut chances.

Not sure about that lad Sanchez at the back for Spurs either. He's very very raw and was caught out a few times. Why change from what is a bloody solid back four to a back five? It's not noticeably stronger with him in there, actually quite the opposite, and if it was for tactical reasons ehhhh that sure as **** didn't work.

Great result for Arsenal though, they were very comfortable. I just wish Spuds wud play like that against Liverpool rather than ripping them apart.

Ohh and yes, Arsenal's second was marginally off side but it was so tight you give the linesman the benefit of the doubt and "Advantage attcaking player" so no excuses there for Spurs.

I agree on the free kick, but if you mean the offisde decision, i'm gonna have to disagree. Too tight to be a real talking point. It's the kinda marginal decision that had you been winning. 1-0 you would have got, but as you were losin it goes against you.

That was never a foul for the first goal, which as everyone knows is vital in these big games.Superb defending I thought!
I still can't decide if ozil showed up or he was his usual flat track bully because spurs were so lacklustre...
I'm very surprised spurs were not at the races.
And after all Wenger's bitching after the city game about offsides etc,I bet my life he doesn't say a peep today! Even though they were marginal.

Well it was offside, the video proves it. Whether it's an inch or a metre, it's still offside. Sure that's difficult to call, doesn't stop it being wrong.

Aye, advantage attacking player, and it was that close a call you can understand the lino getting it wrong. The ones that are 3 yards offside i get annoyed about.
Saying that had Pool been on the receiving end I may well have been equally pissed

3-0 up at half time and en route a bloody good result away to a very solid Sevilla side, then step up one Alberto Moreno. Inside the first ten minutes of the second half he manages to concede a totally needless freekick with his man going nowhere, that Sevilla score from. He then miscontrols inside his own box, turns blind, swings his boot and concedes a penalty. Cue every once of momentum swinging behind Sevilla and Pool being left to try and hold on.
Needless to say they managed to buck it away in stoppage time no less, long after Moreno had been subbed.

My question, and this is a genuine question, has any player, at any club, in any league, EVER, been as shite, as often, for as long as Moreno and yet still got picked week in week out?

Apparently he had been playing better recently (I wouldn't know, I'm refusing to watch Liverpool while he and Mingers r still there) but I find it very hard to believe. I suspect it was just a case of he hadn't had a **** up in a while. Meaning that one was overdue, not that he had suddenly become good.
I can only hope Klopp finally finally sees sense and hangs him out to dry. One mistake is excusable, even two or three, but when you have ****ed up for the three hundred and twenty seventh time, it's not a case of being unlucky or an inexperienced player learning his way, it's simply a case of not being even remotely close to good enough.

SO STOP ****ING PICKING HIM!!!!!!!!!!!

Chelsea draw. Liverpool draw. Spurs draw. Arsenal fluke a winning goal in injury time against Burnley for the third straight game. I'd start playing the lottery gooners

Sounds like Arsenal have Burnley sussed

In any case Arsenal results are the equivalent of winning the odd £75 lottery prize but never the big one.

Spurs' issue is Wembley in a season where you have Champions League, crazy decision to play home league games there. Everyone else ups their game and half the time a relatively small squad is knackered from mid-week

Actually in the long run the Liverpool-Chelsea draw was the best result for Spurs too. I don't think Spurs have a problem, they have played well in the last three games they have lost and suffered some poor refereeing decisions, that's nothing to do with the stadium or the team, just bad luck. Apparently having plain wrong refereeing decisions makes football more interesting. Hopefully that means some good luck is around the corner. It's hard to keep calling Wembley a jinx when they just beat Real Madrid there.

Not seen the Pool game, still boycotting them, but Mingers drops a bollock. ****! Who would have thought!? A player who has proved time and again that he just isn't good enough and that a **** up is always just round the corner....ehhh....****s up and proves YET A-****ING-GAIN that he isn't good enough.

It's got so far beyond a joke now.

I've actually given up on Liverpool. I won't waste any more time watching them while Moreno and Mingers r there.

As for Arsenal, I haven't seen any of that game either but yet another stoppage time winner, a real sickener for Burnley. Sounded a tad fortunate, as did Utd's goal. From what I heard they weren't great either.

Still grinding out wins with you play badly or don't deserve them is what good sides do. Liverpool on the other hand keep playing boys who are robbing a living and then are surprised when they ship goals and drop points.

Thanks Leicester, can't kick a ball straight for two seasons and decide to start playing again tonight

Still can't fathom why Sissoko is playing, Lloris would have scored that first half chance. That's spurs' season over I reckon.

Spuds season has imploded (domestically) since they beat/hammered Liverpool.
Since then, they have lost to WH, in the worthless cup, lost at Utd, beaten Palace 1-0, lost to Arsenal, drawn with West Brom and now lost to Leicester.

Clearly the motto of the story is don't beat Liverpool, it's bad luck!

Ps, how Mingolet didn't get a red for that I will never know. Stone wall.
