PL 2017-2018 Thread

One of those days where every result goes against you, a week for Spurs to forget. That was a completely avoidable goal, Dier will watch that back with shame. Still I was anticipating two draws against Liverpool and Utd so technically we're one point better off than I expected.

BBC News headline - Wenger 'proves critics wrong' by scraping past the team in 17th

Think if Harry Kane had been fit Spurs would have got at least a point. Three seasons in a row Man Utd have won 1 - 0 at home to spurs in the league. Saying that still think we're missing Pogba.

Well, Palace were Ok, Spurs were simply terrible today. Danny Rose is such a tosser all running, no defending and no final product and the rest of them were totally immobile petty much from start to finish excluding a couple of darting dashes from Son.

Its rare that I'll slag them off as I'm a big believer in the concept that being a fan or supporter of a team means that you can see the good in them no matter what, but today I do believe I was watching utter dross. Hopefully its a hangover for the mid week CL deliciousness and not some new found arrogance that will mean the lowest teams don't get the respect (and thrashing) that they should get.

Oh well... at least the next one is a 'big game'... maybe they can turn out for that...

Missed most of the games this w/e. Spurs may not have played well but they still won, grinding out results when you don't play well is a useful habit to have. Those are the sort of games Liverpool are good at losing, and losing 2/3-0 as well.

Moyes is the favourite?! You have to wonder about club chairmen. Have they actually watched ANY game that a Moyes side has played in the last 3 or 4 years. David Moyes is a dreadful manager. He has all the charisma of a wet fish. He makes Kevin Keegan look like a master tactician and as for his track record of buying players, why buy Fellaini before his buy out clause expires when you can wait 5 days and pay an extra six million.

ANY Chairman who even considers appointing this retard as their club manager should be hounded out, and he should probably be sectioned as well.

If WH appoint him, they are down. End of. No 'if's' 'buts' or 'maybes' they are ****ed. Gone. Relegated.

Still they should stroll the Championship next year if they can keep hold of half of their squad.

If I was a West Ham supporter and I had a day of tomorrow, I would turn up at the training ground and say to Moyes your not managing my team, I'm doing it!!!

I don't understand the logic at getting him in at all.

This is all thoroughly depressing. The club is a shambles from top to bottom. The owners have sold the fans a massive lie. 'Next level?' Moyes? Seriously?!!!! Go after Ancelloti or someone of that calibre. That's next level, not Moyes. The heart has been well and truly ripped from the club. Bilic had to go- awesome guy, but the last few months have been really poor, with no sign of a turnaround. Just wish the owners would do one as well...

Yeah, not surprised Bilic got the sack. The club had been on a downward spiral probably since Payet forced his kove. Not Bilic's fault as such, if anything he was a victim of their massive over achievement in his first season. He did look devoid of ideas towards the end though.
Mind you I'd still take him, in fact I'd take his senile granny over ****ing Moyes.
Were it not for the fact he is British, Moyes would be looked at in the same vein as Christian Gross, Jean Tigana and the like.

I feel sorry for West Ham fans.

I get sacking Bilic, one of the less harsh sackings so far, but seriously they must be mad to consider Moyes. Why would anybody hire a manager who's last achievement was getting relegated!? Madness. Management really needs some new blood, the same few losers just keep getting peddled around the yo-yo clubs.

If you watch Bilic in his interview on Sunday he is basically asking to be put out of his misery. Everton getting big Sam in!

WH have just appointed Moyes.

Madness.

That's them down.

In all honesty that is probably the dumbest managerial appointment I can think of. Sunderland appointing Moyes was equally daft but they probably ran out of idiots who would take it and they had dodged a bullet for too many years. WH have just asked to be relegated.

HOW THE **** WAS THAT A PENALTY!?!?

1) He is 4 yards away
2) Yer man takes it on the volley giving approximately no time to react
3) It hits his shoulder/upper arm
4) He has his arms by his sides and his back turned.

Still, we qualify for loads of World Cups so I don't mind missing one for a change.

Ohh, and ehh yeah, Switzerland were head and shoulders better than us and should have won by more, but that doesn't change the fact that was a shockingly poor decision that has totally changed the balance of that tie. Nothing new either, England's non "goal" against Germany a few years ago and the Republic getting robbed by "The hand of frog". UEFA/FIFA really need to get video replays in ASAP. Every other sport does it. A 2 minute delay for a correct decision beats months or years of heart ache over a blatantly shite one.

Now watch my footballing week get topped off by James McClean scoring the winner for the Republic tonight. Hateful little **** that he is.

Yeah I watched that, it was shocking and the red card in the first half. Video replays will be a regular part of the game soon, think the England game tonight is going to have it? It's a bit annoying that Switzerland will qualify they are so boreing, Northern Ireland would bring a lot more to the World Cup.

Gutted. Absolutely gutted. We gave them a good game in the second half. I'm not sure why we were playing on a pitch that resembled the Somme, I can only assume the Swiss took Remembrance day a step too far. So disappointed to be beaten by a Romanian referee. The Swiss were probably better over the two legs, but that refereeing decision was the deciding factor. In this day and age where TV replays can be shown from multi angles in seconds there really is no reason why something like that should be allowed to happen. But, it wasn't the first and it won't be the last.

PS, A message to the Swiss manager, go find a better striker, yer boy was ****ing useless. I'd say that performance should have pretty much guaranteed that he DOESN'T go to the WC he was THAT bad. You can have Josh Maguiness. He's also a keeper (genuinely) so he can cover the back up/3rd keeper spot.

I didn't watch any of the games but that was a terrible decision that penalty. I don't understand why they don't give referees some help like the rugby. Surly in big games and with all the technology available they should try something. That would really piss me off if I followed a team and had possibly even traveled to some of the games. Even for any player World Cups would be one if not the highlight of your whole footballing career.
Ultimately a referees have only split seconds to make decisions in any sports and it cant be easy. But would it not make sense to have some sort of backup for a referee if he's unsure.
