Watched Get Out last night, great film with a twist I didn't see coming

Exactly the same here, brilliant film.

I made my mom n dad watch it and she figured out the twist in the first 5 mins of the film lmao!

I myself watched Guardians of The Galaxy last night on blu ray, probably the 5th or 6th time iv'e seen it 8)

Watched quite a few films on honeymoon, ten hour flights will do that to you.

Rogue one.

Not a bad film this, once you get over the daft Sci Fi thing. I mean who really wants to watch a film about aliens and different planets when there are rom coms and period dramas on!? Other than that though it's pretty good, you guys might like it. It is sadly lacking in female nudity though.

Hacksaw Ridge

I meant to watch this in the cinema but never got a chance. It's set during WW2 and tells the story of conscientious objector who refused to carry a gun but still wanted to help out. It wasn't quite what i was expectcing. I thought it would be a war film with a conscientious objector as one of the main characters but instead it was a film about a conscientious objector that was set during a war. That maybe doesnt sound like much of a difference but it does give the film a different feel. It's not preachy at all, if it was i woulda turned it off in seconds, but it is subtly different from other war films. I'm not sure how much of it is, if you'll excuse the pun, gospel and how much is Hollywood playing with the truth but it does sound like the vast bulk is at least based on fact. There is one scene at the end that sceams BS, but other than that it's most definitely worth watching. Not sure Vince Vaughn pulls off the tough guy sergeant but that's a very minor gripe. Defintely one i'd advise watching if you get a chance.

Life

This one had escaped me before, no idea when it came out. It's got Jake Gylnenhall in it. It's a tad formulaic but not too bad. Basic plot is scientists find life in the soil on Mars and test it on the international space station. It grows at an exponential rate and then starts killing them. It then becomes a fairly well troded human versus alien monster film. It's not bad though, it easily killed 2 hours. Not sure i'd watch it again but that's not to say it wasn't good.

The big Lebowski

I always hear good things about this film, cult classic and supposedly very funny. If cult classic translates as '****ing shite' then that's spot on. Granted it was the fourth film I watched back to back and i was clean bucked at the time, but dear god it's shite. The plot is pish, there's not much really happens and John Goodman's character is one of the most annoying i've seen since Jarjar ****ing binks. Honestly one of the worst films I've seen in a long long time. If you're thinking of watching this I suggest you find a nice sturdy wall and headbutt it as hard as you can. The two hours you spend semi conscious wondering WTF you did will be more enjoyable than watching that shite stoner movie. Just don't.

Alien Covenant.

The only film I watched en route home thanks to jetlag. I'd seen it in the cinema and was quite disappointed in it. Second viewing only reenforced that feeling. It's not a bad film, it's quite fast paced and has plenty of blood and guts but I just can't help shaking the feeling it's so much less than it could have been. The Alien universe has such rich source material that these films should be so much more than just bland slasher movies. From what I hear the studio has pulled the plug on Ridley Scott's plans for a third part to the Prometheus/Covenant story. I can't say i'm overly disappointed. The first two Alien films were faantastic, and both very different. Since then it has just become a series of rehashes of the same old except now we get some psychobable about Engineers, the creation of life and an Android with genocidal tendencies. Such a let down. It's kinda like having a kid who aces every exam they ever take, has offers to study law/medicine at Oxford and Cambridge and instead drops out and spends their life as a jobbing actor living hand to mouth. There's nothing wrong with being a jobbing actor but when you are so smart it does seem like a bit of a waste. The same goes for Covenant. It's not a bad film but it could and should have been soooooo much more. Massive let down. And why we need 57 characters who get 2 mins of screen time each i'll never know. Either have more character development at the start or just relegate a few of them to the role of nameless cannon fodder.

Absolutely love The Big Lebowski

What am I missing? **** plot, as funny as a root canal, an incredibly annoying character, and in general **** all going for it.

did you not like the bit where the bad guy is on the phone and he's writing down the details on a pad and then the dude traces over it to reveal a big dick?

I must admit, thought it was a bit meh on first viewing and didn't really get all the hype. Watched it again with a mate who was a big fan and did a complete 360. There were so many things I had missed first time and I hadn't appreciated the performances at all. Really love it now. Think it's John Goodman's best film. The scattering of Donnie's ashes...

When that scene started my very first thought was, it's windy there you'd have to be a retard to try and scatter ashes...ahhh I know what's gonna happen.

Just sat through Gardians of the Galaxy 2...should have listened to the earlier review!
Oh dear, some funny moments, incredible visually but what a thin story line.
But on a plus side my wife thoroughly enjoyed it, poss something to do we Chris Pratt, oh dear.. :?

I thought it was ok in the cinema, but it was one of the options on some of my flights and i wasnt even remotely tempted to watch it again which kinda speaks for itself.

Just finished watching Champs, I found it a very intertaining documentary one of the best that I've watched in a while.
I have a great love of sports so maybe that's why I enjoyed it so much. 3 boxer's basically it tells the early life they lived and what motivated them to become the best boxers in the world. And what it took to get them to the top. It also highlights the darker side of the money workings around boxing and how unforgiving the sport can be.
After watching that it showed me a different side to Tyson and the pain the guy has to live with everyday. And how much he has changed from being the aggressive unstoppable machine while he was boxing in his early years. He definitely had the potential with the right guidance to make the top 10 best heavyweight boxers of all time. But sadly with being mixed with the wrong people it helped release his dark side very quickly. Which resulted in him never showing the world his true potential in a boxing ring.
Anyone who enjoys boxing, sports or stories from rags to riches. I think you would enjoy giving it a go for a couple of hrs.

Close Encounters of the Third Kind had a special 40th anniversary showing last night at Cineworld at Silverburn, near Glasgow.... Was great to finally see it on the big screen, with great sound, after having only ever seen it on TV, over the years :D

The wife and I are on a bit of a horror film kick at the moment; I'm not into gory films, more your supernatural/psychological/scary stuff. We've watched some crap films recently, but we also watched 'Under the Shadow'. It's set in post-revolution 1980s Iran and has subtitles (I know that puts some people off!!) and I can't recommend it enough. It's really well made and acted, gives an insight into life in Iran at that time (which is an eye opener in itself) and is chilling for a number of reasons.

Last film I watched the weekend was Whiplash  , if you haven't seen this film you need this, I repeat.. you NEED this film in your life!

At any point during my entire life if I was to write down my top 10 favourite films they would all have been sci-fi, drama's or normal fiction or action films wouldn't get anywhere near my top 10. Iv'e always put the entire Star Wars saga down as my no.1 instead of picking a certain SW film, so now for the first time ever a drama is now in my top 10, not just in the 10 but no.2 on my list next to Star Wars. So it's basically the best film iv'e ever watched that's not Star Wars, and that's saying something about this film.

Never found a film to be so gripping with tension, real edge of your seat experience, amazing film, 10/10 8)

Never knew drumming was so intense. The tutor is a psychopath! Awesome film.

Baby Driver.

I'm not a fan of gangster films other than the occasional ironic pop one like Pulp Fiction and I thought this was OK duo I'm hardly the best guy to comment. I'm fed up with the whole 'jukebox soundtrack' thing, though. I find it at a bit easy so I've got a bit of a bee in my arse about that.
