Disney acquires Lucasfilm!!!

For all the doubters, perhaps you have a point

It could go all CGI

That way you could follow on quite soon after Jedi and still have the original cast as they'd just be voice overs!

God knows the prequels were mostly CGI, why not just go the whole way with it.

I would like to see a part 7 if they get Hamill to play Luke 30 years on and theres a new evil force around, dont want it to be none of that novel **** though with Han and Leia's children and dont want other actors to play the parts of known characters.

I'm actually fine with this news as long as it doesn't turn into pirates of te carribean in space. Johnny Depp as Darth Idiot woud be terrible. It cerainly s time for Lucas to and over the reins and for 2015 suggests a script/story must already be at an advanced stage

Having a 4 year old daughter I have watched ALOT of Disney of late. I have to say, they do a fine job of story telling and are visually spectacular (watch Tangled on blu ray or Brave)

My biggest concern is what age group the new films will be aimed at. But then as a 40 something fan, they are never going to be aimed at me.

Star Wars lives though

I was also shocked when I heard, but having thought about it there's the POTENTIAL for it to be good. We all knew what Lucas's standpoint on it was - **** CGI, **** actors, ridiculous comedy, grudges against the original actors etc. At least now it's in the hands of somebody independent, there's a SLIM chance of them making the films they know the die hards want to see - original actors, authentic action, etc. If it's a load of ****, I'll just ignore it like I have everything else from the last 10 years.

My thoughts exactly. Although if the script is part written, Lucas has probably had a hand in it.
I suppose the new movies can't be as bad as the prequels, but I guess time will tell. And hopefully it inspires a new generation of collectors so when I'm old, I can sell all my mocs and be stinking rich

totally agree with ed! they could not possibly out do Lucas and churn out a movie as shite as the last three. if they do so what ill just disassociate myself and ignore it.
In the end, the originals will always be there and can never be replaced!
I am happy to say that i was apart of it all back on the day and as a kid i was privaledged to see all three movies in all their glory.
im a vintage man, so they can do what the **** they want!

I don't really get into anything modern but I do appreciate the impact it has on people and how it brings new fans and quite likely new collectors in years to come, if that continues because of Disney acquiring Lucasfilm then it can only be good for the likes of us who collect the original toys.

I probably would go to see a new movie regardless of how good or bad it was especially as in a few years my daughter will be movie viewing age and lightsabers in the cinema are always fun! It would also be an excuse to go on Star Wars themed rides at amusement parks etc

I have a bad feeling about this!

I said to phantom yesterday, the dream is dead.....
All I could think of was disney......high school musical, singing and dancing, big blue eyes and fluff.....
I mean, when Disney does it right, it is classic, but when they do wrong, oh the horror....

And now the news has settled....and I have to say...To be quite honest, I will wait in anticipation that this will be awesome, just like when the first news of PM came,
I will sit with wide eyes in awe when the crawl starts at the cinema, I will have the elevated heartbeat, I will love Star Wars a bit more for a split second,
and that my friends, is a GOOD feeling!

I probably will be disappointed, and wish they didn't do it at all when it's done....
But, I HOPE it will be good, and the legacy of star wars will be honored, and this will reignite the dream and the interest in the vintage line of toys and the movies.

So fingers crossed guys....fingers crossed...

As per my comment in the other thread.........

Not overly enamered at this idea, but given what Lucas has done to SW in the last 10-15 years, the monstrosities that are episodes 1-3, Jar Jar ****ing Binks, Hayden whatshisface, and the plethora of shitty modern toys, modern versions of OT toys, modern toys on/in OT-esque packing etc etc...I think Disney might be a lesser evil.
Sure they'll flog it death but was Lucas doing any different? Surely to god they couldn't write worse scripts than Episodes 1-3? Metacholorians? What!? The scene where Anakin turns, which still ranks as one of the worst written/acted/directed scenes I have EVER seen.
Plus it would only have been a matter of time before Lucas got bored of raping the OT and the three new bits of shite and started to work on episodes 7-9. The money factor alone would have eventually persuaded him to do it.

Sad to see Disney get it hold it, but the fact Hollywood ran out of ideas so long ago means that it was only a matter of time before we saw episodes 7-9 made.

 they are good but the comments on CNN's story of it are brilliant.

Here are a few,,the first one is classic;

"I felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of dollars suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. I fear something terrible has happened."

"Lucas went to the dark side long ago... he's more machine now than man"

"spot the hidden mickey episode VII"

"imagination can become a fairy tale can become innovation and innovation can become money."

"I thought there was only 3 Star War Movies ? did I miss something ? I hope when Lucas finally decides to do the prequel he promised us that he wouldnt riddle it with CGI or attempts at comic relief characters. He wouldnt do that to us would he ?"

"sick and disgusting"

pretty much sums it up for me out of the frying pan and into the fire for SW.

I dont see why all the hate for Lucas, he was hated for the prequels and now hes allowing more star wars movies to be made which until they are made we wont know if **** or great but atleast we will get more stuff now which we defo would not have gotten if he had stayed in control......no matter what happens we will always have the original trilogy :)

I agree with that. The majority who hated the prequels have been saying for years that Lucas should have brought on other writers/directors to help him with those movies. Well, now here is that chance. We just have to sit back and see what happens. If we don't like it, we still have the OT and vintage, that will never change. :) The one thing really different this time is we all won't have the 15 years of high expectations like we did with TPM and I personally think that is a good thing.

looks like somone isn't a fan
