So I had to do a couple of hours work his morning and on way home passed a huge boot fair, so with time to spare I thought I'd stop and take a look on the off chance.
Low and behold I have seen some Star Wars items, however the people selling them have the same mentality as those online as because it was Star Wars must be worth a fortune.
Third stall I walked past had a loose AT-AT in pretty beat up condition, one leg was truly yellowed whilst others were normal, no chin guns or side guns, no canopy on cockpit, battery cover was removed and the side panel was missing also, so like i said in a pretty sorry state. So I thought if it was reasonable I'll get it for my lad, asked how much, the seller responds £60, I couldn't believe it, I pointed out to him what was missing, his response was "it's extremely rare pal, I could sell it for double that online". I walked on by, couldn't believe his price but thought how great it was to see a vintage item.
Next aisle there was a bloke with a huge glass display selling Star Wars beaters for £6 each, and when I say beaters I mean beaters, he had a Luke Jedi with no face in there, bit pricey but again good to see, what did make me laugh was in amongst these beaters he had a Lando skiff figure wearing Hans trench coat which he had up for £20.
Another lady had a bag of what she called Star Wars for a fiver, contained three figures, a faded beater Teebo with no accessories, a tusken raider bend em and a rubber figure of the sloth out of ice age.
But the best stall was the dodgiest bloke I've ever seen, he had modern Star Trek figures carded on his table which were sun bleached for £50. Only Star Wars item he had was an episode one dress up queen amidala costume, no interest for me but thought I'd ask the price as he was so expensive, now this was the best, told me it was £100, i stood there just gob smacked and didn't say a word, he followed it up thirty seconds later with, I'll do it for £80 though mate. I wouldn't give him a fiver for it, unbelievable.
I did pick up the return of the Jedi Ralph mcquarrie portfolio collection though, all the prints are in there, paid £8 for it, and looked through them and they are nice, box is a little best up round the edges though.
Unbelievable prices but so good to see Star Wars back round boot fairs.
