Another VC Jawa Palitoy found

Not really - only by what has sold on ebay (don't go by buy it now prices - they never sell for half that). Last 3 afa graded kenner MOCs have sold for between £3000 and £3,800. You'll get some goons list them at 8 but they dont sell and they end up pulling them out.

Palitoy VC mocs obviously only had the one - which sold for around £11,500 ish outside of ebay (original winner being a 0 feedback guy).

So depends on what you want, as to what you pay.

@ Gary smith I read your post over on RS seemed like a really well written and balanced reply. I am wondering (and I don't mean this arsey but as complete Palitoy newbie, I own zero palitoy figures) what would you class as the holy grains of a palitoy collection if its not the VCJ? I know nothing about this stuff and am just interested.

A full set of 30b's for the first 12 figures MOC would be kinda cool...

:)

Ahh right thanks for that Jason, I totally ****** up there, I'm guessing the 30 back ESB Palitoys are rarer than the 12 backs?

A lot are one of a kind known pieces with sandpeople still to be confirmed!

:)

Got you Jason thanks for clearing that up, god knows why but I assumed the 12's to be rarer as they came first although from a totally Kenner point of view I find the ESB vader on any card (while its not in any way shape or form rare) to be much harder to find than the 12 back I have been looking for one for the past year and only a few have come up for sale all at times when I'm totally skint but in the same time period there must have been 20-30 12 backs, never worked out why.... could just be Sod's law in action as I want one :)

Holy Grail is really whatever you want it to be. For some a loose VCJ is their Holy Grail.

My post was merely to say that for me at least it is not a grail piece.

I have some trilogo miscards that I would consider as grail pieces. A HST on FX7 was a grail piece until fairly recently when I finally got one! 8)

There are a number of Palitoy cards that i would also say are grail pieces, but it's entirely related to what I am searching for to complete a run.

I'd definitely conisder original 12/20 characters on Palitoy logo'd card a grail piece for me and agree with Jason that a set of the first 12 on 30 backs would be awesome. As they would on any of the Palitoy logo'd ESB cards!

Hi Gary many thanks for clearing that up, I would love any MOC Palitoy 12 back however the prices are way beyond my means so its not an area of collecting I have done much investigation into. I am on the hunt for a set of 12 back palitoy cards but again these are getting pretty steep.
Cheers
James

I'll second that, James- I'm hoping to complete the first 20. Only a couple of weeks ago did a Palitoy Luke Farmboy 12 back sell for £82... crazy prices for a piece of card that had the bubble well and truly ragged off of it. It was nice, though...

Tell me about it Martin I was going to bud on the set of 11 palitoy 12b cards and figures that went through on E-bay and ended up spending all my loot on a fireplace instead :( oh well "one day"

I was bidding on that lot, too  I put in a cheeky offer of £187 with 4 seconds to go, hoping to get a 'bargain' but it ended up going for £230 in the last second! Ah, well ...

Might be an idea to get our heads together, James... I'll PM you tonight with the Palitoy cards that I'm watching- if they're the same as yours then I'll gladly step aside. Little point in both of us hiking up already crazy prices :D

Catch up with you soon, mate.

It was a nice lot and i think at the price it went for it was a good buy especially as chewie was in there, Lol this should be pretty simple I'm looking for all 12 ;) I am not going to be bidding on anything for quite a while as I am stoney broke!

It's no surprise they are really trying to hype this up.

And in answer the articles title....I very much doubt that it is.

In fact a lot of the figures they discuss in the article are largely expensive due to mythical status rather than outright rarity.

With all the attention focused on the Jawa, I wonder if the other 3 12 backs will sell at current high prices or quite cheap? Actually, cheap is the wrong word - let's say a reasonable amount.

Good call, to be honest I've lost track of what those other three 12 backs are :?
Wait, just had a quick flick back to page 1: Stormtrooper, Sand People and Death Squad Commander. Very nice.

Glad I got my loosie for £275 earlier this year :D
A wise buy Richard, considering todays prices!

If the last auction is anything to go by - everything was expensive, except maybe the 12bk pali Jawa.
