They'll be like a dozen MOC examples by then at the rate we're going at now...

Jason

How many would you like???

No using prit stick and sticky back plastic now. We're not all watching Blue Peter these days, or in your case, at all!

:p

Funny with all this talk of fake palitoy vcjs if you type 'palitoy vinyl cape jawa' into google images, I would challenge you to find a picture of a faked example on there anywhere at all. All I can see is the 3 MOCs that have seen publicity and are in the open and some of the opened examples (one of which was sold by Vectis in Jan 2012, so they are no stranger to this particular figure/card combo).

:)

I have an ultra rare Toltoys VCJ. The only known example which is corrected so that the Jawa is standing the right way up for our Oz friends.

After reading through the RS thread it seems like this subject will always go around in circles. I'm amazed that after one was graded by the AFA there's still a lot of doubt out there about if this item exists. I know the AFA have been wrong before but if people won't except it for real after it's been graded then I guess there's no real point it using them for grading anything that's very rare.

I'm also quite surprised that people find it so suspicious that another one has been found just after the only graded one in the world sold recently for a small fortune. I'm thinking that the person who bought it probably noticed how much the ebay one went for and decided that 11K would come in handy. We don't even know when this one was bought (well I don't think we do?), it may well have been sitting in someone's collection for years or even been put away into storage. I'm pretty sure if anyone who uses the various forums out there has one that they would have come forward by now but the truth is there are many more Star Wars collectors out there in the world who aren't part of any forum and just enjoy collecting these toys. I've spent years collecting all sorts of toys and only joined a star wars forum fairly recently. In fact as it was TIG that I joined first and posted my reseal collection up I wasn't even aware that there was a UK forum until a member from here contacted me about it. Also I can understand if the seller doesn't want to come forward as I wouldn't want everyone knowing that I'm sat on very valuable item.

The end of the day with this all is that I feel some people probably won't be happy about this Palitoy VCJ being legit until 4 or 5 have been graded by the AFA (probably never going to happen but you never know). I've asked before on here if anyone from the UK used to have this figure as a child during the 70's and other than myself there's only one other person who had one. It would be interesting to know if there is anyone else out there and I know that in many peoples eyes this won't prove anything but it's always good to hear someones childhood story, it's part of the reason I collect. :)

Just for the record, i'm more than satisfied that these existed in the UK and even though I haven't seen the Vectis one first hand I can't see anything wrong with the pictures that I've seen of it. We all know that this figure wasn't produced for very long and all the ones that were sold in countries other than the US must have been in very low numbers. Back then kids used to just rip the packaging open and play with things so I can see why very few survived intact.

The RS thread makes depressing reading. The amount of morons reading only the most recent comments and then throwing in something that's already been answered is retarded. It took them 4 pages to agree that AFA had never said they wouldn't grade another VCJ, just that it was unlikely that another one would turn up, and then some other buffoon goes and raises it all over again ....

Clearly sending it to AFA would limit its value because of the crushing so the seller won't do it, but oh no, it's a fake, can't be graded by AFA, touch ups, it's already been graded so clearly something is amiss (yes, someone said that) etc etc ...

I don't normally swear on posts, but some of those guys are ****ing idiots.

Feel better now :D

Chris,
I hope that wasn't thrown in my direction.

We all know that the forum is a place for discussing topics...not to sling mud...but it can getting ****ing rowdy around here when we all start drinking and jumping in with the mob. I love this forum because it is told how it is and not much is held back. Another great point is we all share one thing in common.....Star Wars toys.

My rant was definitely thread specific, rather than person specific :D

If you read the thread from start to finish in one go (which I did), it's really daft the amount of people who were clearly just trying to get in late to the argument. I like RS, there are some really informative threads and great stuff FS, but there are also way too many threads that are filled with trolls and serial 'arguers' (again, not being person specific here!!).

Kathy from Vectis has said it was bought at an antiques fair fairly recently quite cheaply with three other 12 back palitoy MOCs.

cheers Jason

Thanks for passing that on Jason, at least we know it hasn't been sat in someones collection for that long. Things do turn up from time to time in different places. The Palitoy 12 back Luke I used to own was from a Bristol auction house from a few years ago. I picked it up with 3 other sealed Palitoy 12 backs and I'm pretty sure nobody outside of that auction house knew about it. There are palaces like this all over the country and who knows what becomes available to the open market every now and then. It'll be interesting to see what price this new VCJ finds with all the exposure it's having.

Not just the VCJ - but did I see mention of Guerre Stelari Mocs and such mentioned someplace too? Looking forwards to see what others bits are turning up at this auction. Guess they might be setting another new record for sales :)

I see their resident professional fisherman has weighed in with his expert opinion !

As I said before, I honestly think some of the guys on there badly want this to be a fake and are clearly not bothered by the thoughts of AFA, Jason or Gray who know far more about Palitoy cards than they ever will

I agree with the above statement 100%
