What this all about ?

I don't remember this

"Another worry on SWFUK was a thread on somebody making bloody convincing Palitoy reseals. There was a lot of high-fiving and kudos being threw at the customiser doing this and that is certainly a concern. "

I've asked that question on RS. It's probably the thread from tfb about making refurbished MOCs.

cheers Jason

If that is it..they twisted that one. I would find it amusing they would be all over me fixing cardbacks, but endorse buying poon repros.

I think they are mixing up the whole reseal/refurb/restored semantics?

If you have the original cardback and bubble, you can reseal along the bubble tear, placing the correct figure with coa marking and original weapon.
I have done this myself on a few cards. If the footplate is missing, I use the bubble cardback as it is the same colour and cut to size. These I consider
to be reseals and it's done all the time and not a problem in my opinion. It's very hard to do these seamlessly and I haven't seen one yet that would
pass close scrutiny.

Restored or refurbished would have reproduction weapons, figures, cardbacks or bubbles or any combo of those. Reproduction items should be clearly marked
as being reproduction so as not to fool inexperienced collectors. Ones which don't have these markings, I have a problem with, and I have already banned
their sale on my facebook group.

and that is exactly what our discussions led up to as far as what is acceptable and what is not. I think they also took a few jokes I made about asking how many palitoy jawas do you want me to make as serious. This is the reason I stay away from there...they can not take a ****ing joke.

I hope it's not these being 'talked' about : http://www.starwarsforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=13119
I've said it before- I'd proudly have these at my house.

Regardless I blame Todd :p

I'm rather shocked that the SWFUK post on Todd's customising has been taken out of context and appeared on Rebel Scum's 'Palitoy VCJ' thread, as it was me pushing for the Palitoy customisations in the first place... and I certainly don't remember indulging in any 'high fives', as that isn't my kind of thing. As Todd says, it all arrived at an acceptable conclusion. It seems fair game to take half a story and run through town with it, screaming and shouting.

I'm trying not to get into the forum bashing scenario, too... we're all in it for these 3 and 3/4 inch plastic toys... but this image kind of sums up the content of the Palitoy Vinyl Cape Jawa thread on Rebel Scum thus far:

I think they miss me and are inviting me to come back for a visit. There is nothing wrong with reseals. As I have said before...If poon was doing it, it would be Ok. These guys choose whom to bash.

Another satisfied customer

I bet anytime this forum is brought up over there....the RS MODS cringe as it's sort of inviting us over for dinner. :D :|

The RS thread is just gurgling down a plughole at the moment. As people fail to agree more endless speculation comes out.

Is trijunkie a poster on here?

I have to agree, 100%.

I did actually join up on Rebel Scum just a couple of days ago, primarily to chuck in my two-penneth worth and to defend Jason in the onslaught of this whole 'can a Palitoy Vinyl Cape Jawa actually exist?' scenario. Then, I have to admit, I thought better of making my intentions known (I think Jason's man enough to defend himself).

I'm happy to watch from the sidelines. Eating my popcorn.

The funny thing is 99% of them have no intention of buying it even if they were 100% sure it was real.

Yeah some Pali-envy as well I think. Some people don't seem to like the idea that non-Kenner rare stuff might be worth more than theirs ... now I think about it, same could apply to Uzays, some of the bootlegs etc.

Everyone to their own imo.

Thanks for the (kind of) back up. The Palitoy vcj threads have become easier to defend from the yes point of view over the years, as more and more sealed and opened examples come to light. I think the naysayers used to be a lot more vocal and numerous though.

But surely it stands to reason?

The United States of America= a very big country, with heaps of Kenner product.

The United Kingdom= a very small island by comparison, with less of the 'locally' produced Palitoy product available.

Turkey= that's a whole different ball-game. Are you sure you want to go down this route? The post count that will ensue if it's a 'yes' will please fun4kids and Grant, if nothing else...

I was thinking the exact same thing, in an earlier post Darren states "my interest in this is I one day want to own one but not one of the only two "confirmed" exanples, I do wonder if his posts are designed to try and ruin someone else's purchase.
