I'm quite sure that the people on here that are anti FB or that make comments about FB groups, their members and the general lack of knowledge that is often shown on that platform have not got an inferiority complex Danny.
If anything, it might be the other way around! Especially when you consider that certain people who prefer to use FB, do so in order to limelight the same collection pics in multiple groups for no other reason than to receive all those "like" notifications.
You can literally become movie star famous overnight just by posting a picture on there and people know it..doesn't matter what you know, how long you've been around or what you actually contribute to this hobby/community! I've seen complete tossers who have done nothing for this hobby other than benefit themselves referred to as "masters"..just for posting pictures of their toys!
TBH you only really have to look at how many community projects/guides have come out since the groups took over from the forums. Could you (or anyone else) name me 5 guides or resources that have come from the FB groups or that FB users have worked on? Ok that might be a hard task..lets try 3?........ok..Erm..1? See what I mean? Yet all of the guides and websites that forum users have worked on over the years are constantly linked to and referred to..
Lets be honest, in that sense - the groups really don't exist for "useful" reasons. They don't give anything back to the community even though they bring collectors together and offer them a place to chat, trade and take part in the occasional bit of drama!
I'm not trying to be rude about FB groups or their place in the hobby though because I use them daily too and I'm a moderator of 2 or 3..but I wouldn't give up the forums for FB groups for all the toys in the world.
