Hi everyone !

My first article in a new series on StarWars.com has debuted. It's called The Vintage Vault and it will deal with vintage toys. The first article is about the X-Wing Starfighter.

I hope you're willing to help me out in the future whenever I have questions :)

Tim, that's a great article with lots of good info and it is a good thing for the vintage hobby that you are taking on this new column and 'spreading the gospel' to the masses! I am sure if you do want any advice on future articles then you will find lots of knowledgeable collectors here that are happy to help (I can offer one piece of help for the X-Wing article that the Glasslite ASA-X was 1985 not 1988). Best of luck with it, and please do put the links up to new blog articles again in the future.

I've seen references for 1985 but I've seen more for 1988 like this one:

were there different releases?

The Vintage Vault and not Fault sounds better.
Yes ... d'oh :p

Thx guys ! I really like vintage, but there is so much you can know about it (and so much more that I don't know). These articles are indeed more directed toward a general audience as an introduction.

I thought that the ASA-X and most of the Glasslite items were COO stamped 1985, but I could be off here though as perhaps the COO and the actual release date don't match up and I certainly don't want to spread misinformation so pls disregard my earlier comment!

No, not at all as I think it is a little grey area. But I think that 1988 is correct as it is more accurate with the licence date and the trade catalogues that advertised them as coming soon in 1987(?)

I figured 1988 could be correct since Glasslite really got the licence very late, even when other countries were ending the line. Wasn't Vlix also released in 1987 or 1988?

Here's my next article of 'The Vintage Vault': The Millennium Falcon
