Hello everyone!

I'm thrilled to join this forum and introduce myself. I'm Matt, a passionate collector of vintage gaming treasures and memorabilia. Recently, I launched RetroMasterQuest, a website dedicated to all things related to collecting and investing in collector items. At RetroMasterQuest, I strive to provide valuable insights, tips, and resources for fellow enthusiasts who share a love for retro gaming and collectible items.

My latest blog article, "The Birth of Star Wars Collecting: Kenner's First 12 Action Figures Explored (Star Wars Action Figures - Collector Guides)," dives deep into the origins of Star Wars toy collecting. In this article, I explore the first 12 action figures released by Kenner, offering detailed descriptions, historical context, and tips for collectors. Whether you're a seasoned collector or just starting out, I hope this guide provides valuable information to enhance your collection.

I invite you all to check out the article here: The Birth of Star Wars Collecting: Kenner's First 12 Action Figures Explored

Hi there, I don't wish to be overly critical but you have asked for feedback so here goes...... The problem is, if you are going to be a "guide" you have to be very careful with the information being presented and the supporting images or your readers will be confused or misled. For example the R2D2 MOC image is of a modern figure. The Chewy, Vader, Stormtrooper, Sand Person are all definite reproduction cardbacks - this could lead somebody using your guide into purchasing a fake/copy/repro MOC without realising as they have referenced your images.

Anyway, like I say, not wanting to be too negative and good luck to you and your project but guides are only as good as the informaton provided, sorry. Hope the feedback helps you anyway.

Hey supergoose,

Thank you for taking the time to provide detailed feedback. I really appreciate your insights and constructive criticism! These kinds of comments help a lot for my personal understanding, and in the end, to have a qualitative and accurate blog post, that people can depend on.

I have reviewed and corrected the images of the R2D2, Chewy, Vader, Stormtrooper, and Sand Person to ensure they accurately represent the original figures and cardbacks. I hope that now they are aligned with the description. If there are still some issues, or potential improvements, I would be very happy to receive further feedback!

Thanks again for your comments. They were very valuable in helping to improve my personal understanding of the topic.

Best regards,

R2D2 is also available on Trilogo cards
Luke DT is available carded as well as in the EB set
Vader also came on Trilogo and has a Takara version
Stormtrooper, another for the Trilogo club
Kenobi - also has a DT version
Jawa - the Trilogo isn't even in the top ten scarcest MOCs
The DSC was not on Trilogo, not even a hybrid.

Many of the figures are also available on Kaybee two packs

The valuation information is also significantly inaccurate.

Hi lejackal,

Thanks so much for your feedback on my blog post about Kenner's first 12 Star Wars figures! I've added the information you provided. The info was super helpful. I also tried to improve the valuation section, but it was a bit tricky to find accurate and consistent prices.
If anyone else has feedback, especially about the valuations, or any other suggestions, I'd love to hear it!
Thanks again for taking the time to help me out. It means a lot, and I'm always open to learning more from collectors like you.

Hi,

It's almost always a mistake to include valuations on static information pages (both books and web sites). Prices move all the time so you will quickly be out of date. And yes, you are right - prices can appear very inconsistent. That is just the nature of the hobby I'm afraid. If you feel you must include a valuation/prices section, instead, how about stating prices in the following way:

"At the time of writing on 8th Jan 2025, a mint SW 12A Chewbacca would range between USD$XYZ and USD$ZYX according to sold price data from XXX".

Readers are going to be more forgiving when your information becomes obsolete if you do the above. But better yet, direct your readers to the best digital price guide for vintage Star Wars collectors at www.starwarstracker.com which is always reflecting current market activity. I've been running this for over 10 years now and it has a wealth of very detailed current and historical pricing information.

Thanks, Jared.
