The imaginatively titled Premier League 21/22 Thread

Think City are big favourites for the league now, much easier run in, Liverpool looking good tho, can see Liverpool winning all remaining games so will be fascinating.

As for top 4 I think Spurs are in pole now. Every time you think one of them has turned a corner the wheels seem to come off. Will probably be more twists.

As for Man Utd I can't believe the lack of effort. I would be annoyed as an Everton fan as they were really bad as well and Lampard lives to fight another day, they are still likely to go down, to late for big Sam?

We were truly awful yesterday, against a Brentford side that were merely ok. We looked completely spent, which is quite worrying.

Thought Man City were definitely the better side, Liverpool had a great start to the second half and really made the most of their good spell. Gonna be close!

Great weekend for Spuds @edd_jedi!

Arsenal beaten, WH beaten, Utd beaten and Wolves beaten.
Bad results for all four. Utd were shambolic from what I heard/saw. A pure testimonial performance. Certainly what the **** AWB is doing for the goal I do not know, that's the definition of lackadaisical jog back into something approximating where a RB should be positioned, a token half effort at pressing and then nothing. Shockingly bad. Ronaldo slapping a kids phone out his hand too, and then offering to bring him to Ot to watch a game. 1) the kid is an Everton fan, so has no interest in going to OT. 2) you're on £500kpw buy the poor bastard a new phone you knobber.
Arsenal where in prime spot for fourth now lost 3 in 4 games.

WH tried to have their cake and eat, they should probably have prioritised the EL, but now they have an extra game in the legs of their small squad AND they dropped points. Thursday is a very big game for them now as top four is probably gone, they have City still to play and would need to win all their other games.

As for City Pool. Horrible. Two hours of ****ing torture. City played Pool off the park in the first half. Pool had 1 decent chance as well as the one they scored. Whilst City didn't exactly have a bucket load, the game was played 10 yards from Pool's box.
Second half was a bit more even. One of those games, I'm not sure either side deserved to lose, but if you had to pick a winner, it was City. Then again they were at home and they have spent £500+m since Klopp took over Pool.

The FAC this weekend might be a bit more even. City's record an Anfield is pish, as is Pool's at the Etithad.
I do think one or both of them will drop points between now and the end of the season, so I don't think it's all over. But I saw something that said City had a 66% ish chance of winning it. I'd say that's about right, if anything possibly a little low.

Yes apart from Chelsea winning 6-0 everything else went Spurs' way last weekend, so it makes up for the reverse situation a few weeks back. With 7 or 8 games left I think there's still going to be plenty of twists not only for the title but also for 4th-7th, looks like Wolves have blown it now but the rest could all end up anywhere.

Chelsea were a bit unlucky last night, that disallowed Alonso goal could have gone either way. Ultimately they paid the price for some individual errors. Mendy in the 1st leg and Rudiger slipper for the winer. Fine margins like that decide games at this level.

Some result for Villareal, although the fact they had a total of 2 shots on target across both legs sums up exactly what the result was, the definition of daylight robbery.

Liverpool have basically had a buy to the final from the group stage! Man City luck that is. Man Utd have had harder runs in the Europa League. lol

Stop reading Man U fan forums!

I had that exact same guff from a blinkered bitter Utd fan earlier in the week.
Pool had one of the hardest groups in the group stage. Seriously, go and look and the groups and tell me which ones are harder than Pool's!
They had the Spanish champions (Atleti), the Portugese champions (Porto) and the Italian runners up (AC). Whatever way you want to dress that up those are the champions/runners up of the second, third and sixth best leagues in Europe.
And Pool beat them all home and away. Does the fact Pool beat them suddenly make them easy games?

The fact City struggled against Atleti shows you how fecking horrible and hard they are to play.

Then Pool had Inter in the 2nd round who are currently top of Serie A, granted it ain't the league it used to be, but ehh they are no mugs.

I will give you Benfica being one of the kinder draws in the quarters and Villarreal being the surprise package of the tournament. Albeit Villareal have duffed out Juve and Bayern. But the group and 2nd round games were by no means a bye.

Looking like City in the final, if the bookies are right. That will NOT be fun.

Ps, anyone see the end of the City Atleti game? Jesus.

Nice bit of fishing! lol. What you on about @weasel hard group stage??? AC Milan pensioners, Spanish pub league champions and Portuguese farming champions.
Yeah I did watch the end of the Man City game and was cheering for City. Mainly because I believe they are the only team that can stop Liverpool winning it, also because it was funny to see Athletico get some of there own medicine. Them complaining about the time wasting and faking injury is like Boris complaining about other people having lock down party's.

I knew you were fishing, I just decided to play along!

Agreed on Atleti being hypocritical wankers, but then that whole club is just horrible. As I might have said once or twice.

Probably 2-1 Harry Maquire own goal and he gives away a penalty in the last minute.

Do you reckon Liverpool had a harder run in the league cup than the CL @weasel?

Amazing night in the Europa! I feared for us after that first leg and dreadful display at the weekend, but I couldn't have been more wrong. We were brilliant 👏 Moyes has done a truly phenomenal job.

Barca going out. Rangers going through. Awesome!

Burnley sack Dyche for taking Burnley exactly where they should be given the squad they have

Sean Dyche sacked. Strange timing. Why now, why not a month ago. Surely too late to save themselves now? Fat Sam is the obvious choice, similar brand of football etc.

Yeah amazing for West Ham, and Barca knocked out! Didn't see that coming. Sad times for Burnley, big Sam won't be able to save Burnley and Everton. West Ham Rangers final?

Yeah, great result for WH and good to see. If I was a WH player I would have celebrated every goal in front if Dembele and if I was marking him I would have been in the winking cunts ear the whole time. Slap it right up him, and the Lyon Twitter team.

Frankfurt are a solid side, so are WH, that will be no easy game. I'd love to see WH win it. If they do they get seeded in pot 1 for the CL, and given how the CL is set up/rigged, that should all but guarantee a second round game at least. There's a good chance one of Pool and City won't be seeded in pot 1, unless one wins the CL and the other the PL.

The question is do they now prioritise the EL and risk their PL form dipping? Given they have Chelsea, Frankfurt, Arsenal, Frankfurt, that's a fecking tough run for a reasonably small squad.

Ehhhhh, I can't remember Pool's worthless cup run, Chelsea, Arsenal and ehhh (thanks mr google) Leicester, Preston, and Norwich.
Preston and Norwich are both shite, Leicester and Europa conference standard, Chelsea are solid, Arsenal are inconsistent. I'd have to say the CL run was harder. Chelsea are better than any side we have played in CL, but Atleti and Inter are prob on a par with Arsenal, if not better, and Porto/AC are better than Leicester. I would say Villareal are probably a more streetwise Leicester.

Liverpool have had a few easier CL ties, but they are 'easy' by CL standards, where as Norwich and Preston are just easy.

Had Bayern beaten Villareal, I doubt we would have been having this conversation. People would have been pointing out how tricky a run Pool had had, bar Benfica.

Easiest CL run in living memory! Don't know why you keep biting, Liverpool and City are the best teams in the world at the moment and will probably both be in the final. CL is just a cup competition at the end of the day. 😉
