There's grappling, just as there seems to be at EVERY corner in every game, with defenders trying to stop the attackers and vice versa. Too much, IMHO, but the officials never seem too bothered. The crucial difference is Timber has the sole (premeditated) purpose of pushing the front post defender in the back. Look how he runs directly across the area from the back post, focused on Paqueta, with one thing in mind. He did this on several of the Arsenal corners and it lead directly to a goal on the first one, as Paqueta would've made that header. Even my nephews, who are staunch Gooners, thought it should've been disallowed. As Weasel said, as long as it works and they keep getting away with it, they'll keep on doing it...
Yeah, the first one does look like a foul. The second is bog standard grappling, the third is nothing. The freeze frame makes it look like he is trying to kick yer man, but the video shows it's FA.
The difference to the Timber one, is Timber's foul leads directly to the goal. He nudges Paqueta, meaning Paqueta misses his header and Arsenal score.
It's not a "oh my god how did they not see/give that" it's probably more 'clever' play. But for me, it's a foul that leads directly to a goal, and should have been disallowed. Arsenal are very good at pushing the limits from set pieces (that's not necessarily an insult) I just think that one should have been chalked off. And I don't like Ben white standing on top of the keeper either, but that one seems to have died out, thankfully.
Amazingly Pool get a cushy home draw in the FAC, as do City (obviously), Chelsea, and Newcastle. Spuds draw is interesting. If that was at WHL, they could play their under 11's and the big stadium/atmosphere would win it for them, but going to a non league ground makes it a banana skin game.
Arsenal Utd is clearly the tie of the round.

What a stitch up the third round draw was for Man Utd! That's plenty of free weekends for Man Utd fans in the new year.

Unlike the much hyped "big six" matches I think they're mostly entertaining and fairly high scoring, I'm not sure I could say with any great certainty who actually wins them.
They did beat Pool, last season I think, and that was their first win in a good while.
It's kinda like Utd Pool games in the 90's and early 00's on paper the better side cruises it (Utd in the 90's and early 00's and Pool in the Merseyside derby over the last 15 yrs) but often the games are a lot harder than you would expect. They almost have to be ground out. Not many times did Utd (against Pool) or do Pool (against Everton) cruise the game.
I think it's the PL game with the most red cards, by a ****ing mile.
Luke Shaw injured. Again, again, again, again, again.
I do feel sorry for him, but his days at Utd must be limited now purely by how long it takes them to flog him. During his time there he's missed about 50% of the games Utd have played because he was injured. He's been there 10 or 11 years so it's not like one or two bad injuries are skewing the stats.

He has to go, but I doubt he will as Man Utd in their wisdom gave him a 4 year contract until June 2027. Think he's on £150k a week. Since he signed the new deal I think he's played less than 5 games, the guys body is broken and it can't take the physicality of the PL, simple as that.

Man Utd sporting director Dan Ashworth sacked after 5 months, unbelievable Jeff! Took INEOS 6 months to get him out of Newcastle and 5 months to sack him. Man Utd are the definition of a club in turmoil on and off the pitch.

It reflects very poorly on him and INEOS. Either they failed to establish the requirements and breadth of the job pre appointing him, one party changed them, or he was utter turd. Either way, Utd contineu to look a shambles.
I saw a stat yesterday, "It's December and only two PL managers have been sacked, ETH and Steve Cooper, both have been replaced by Ruud Van Nistelrooy."
