Premier League 24/25 Thread

Is it not NINE goalies? They have sold Gallagher for big money, and he is pure profit in FFP terms. They are also forcing Chalobah out of the club (he is banned from the training ground, what a way to treat someone who has been with you since he was 6) cos they want the transfer fee. He, again, is pure profit.
It seems daft to force out your youth products to buy players who are the same age and little, if any, better. The logic seems to be to sell them on in years to come for higher fees. But then all have been signed for big money, on long contracts and how will they get enough game time for people to even know who they are when Chelsea have squad of FIFTY players. FIFTY!!!

Ignoring all that, why not just…..and this is a revolutionary idea I know…..play your youth products? They are free and will attract bids that are pure profit so they help even more. Play Chalobah for 3 more years and then sell him for 60m and bank ehhh 60m profit (ignoring wages). Does that not make more sense than forcing him out now for 20m, buying some random kid no one has heard of for 30m, giving him a 97yr contract and then hoping to sell said kid for a profit? Again, ignoring wages, you need to sell that kid for 70m to make the same profit you would by playing Chalobah.
I know, it's more complicated as clubs Amortisise the players value over the length of his contract, but the basic point holds.

The sooner Chelsea's model implodes and they get relegated and collapse the better for football. And they will not be missed. Horrible club. Horrible fans. Horrible owners (past and present). Horrible attitude to FFP and rules in general.

35 back for Arsenal, only counting transfers once, was Denis Suarez on loan from Barca in 18/19

And Zubimendi decides he wants to stay at Real so-so-bad.
Brilliant

That's him, Bellingham, Touchemi, Caicedo, Lavia and Mount who have all declined not to join Pool in the last 18 months. Not bothered on the last 2. No idea if Lavia is any good and Mount wasn't worth the fee Chelsea wanted/Utd paid, but it is annoying to lose the other four. Caicedo is a spanner who is controlled by his useless agent (even the Brighton Chairman said he needs a new agent) and I can understand Bellingham and Touchemi picking Real over Pool.
There's no getting away from that being a very long list of solid midfielders (and Lavia who I haven't seen play) who have passed up on the chance to join Pool recently though.

Still. Naby Keita has been released by Werder Bremen so Pool could always rer-sign him and that would totally "be like a new signing" rolls his eyes and swears.

Team of the week to become the weeks most horrendous tackles presumably

He couldn't be any worse than Garth Crooks. He just picked players at random. "You scored, so you're in. Your team lost 27-1 and six other players in your position got hattricks, but you're in. Ohhh and I know you are the most one footed CF the world has ever seen but you can play LB, right?"
****ing muppet.

Deeney has a very low bar to be better

Well that was ****.

Poor game, maybe not unexpected at this stage of the season. I know it wasn't their first choice starting line up but Utd still look a very strange side. They didn't deserve to win that, a draw was probably a fair result.

I did laugh at Martinez sprinting over at one point to stand right in front of Pererereia (who had a shocker and massively ****ed up Fulham's best chance) and he (Pererereria) just booted the ball straight into him as if to say "get the **** out of the way I want to take a quick free." As he is entitled to. The ref blows his whistle and books,…….perereria.
I mean, why? What for? The crime of highlighting that the other team are stopping him from taking a quick free?
I know every club tries to stop quick frees, and Utd are no better or worse at it than anyone else, but in no way was Perereria at fault. Martinez should have been booked, if anyone.

On that note it's ****ing annoying that EVERY TIME someone wins a free the nearest player on the other team stands right in front of it, or like Martinez, runs over to stand in front of it. Everyone does it, I'm not picking on Utd, but it annoys me. Hockey has a rule where you instantly have to retreat 5 yards if a free is given against you or a it's a yellow card. Albeit hockey has the traffic light system and a yellow is 5mins in the sin bin so more of a punishment than a football yellow. And you can get more than 1 yellow before it becomes a red but that's another story.
If you brought that rule into football the first few games would finish as 5-a-side games. And Jose and Atletico would never complete a game, they'd run out of players. It would make football a better spectacle though.

Anyone else having problems posting? The only way I can manage it is if I quote a message and then write under it. (In this case I deleted the quoted message.)

Interesting start. Disappointed, but not overly so. It's going to take us a while to gel, and Lop will have learned a lot from that. Been saying for weeks, that if we don't get Duran, he will inevitably score the winner against us... so West Ham! Centre halves were great, Kudus outstanding, Rodriguez impressive, Summerville lively. The rest, especially Antonio and Coufal were poor. Villa are a very good team and have pace and athleticism all over the pitch, which was the difference. Thought we should've got the draw though...

Arsenal were very much the same as last season, which isn't really a bad thing whilst we bed Timber and Cauliflower in. Nice to have a squad good enough not to need to throw the new boys in immediately.
I still think we need a bit more in midfield and have a few more to show the door.

Woeful non effort by Antonio for the goal. Just jogs half way with his man then lets him run free into the six yard box. Unforgivable from a kid, but from an experienced player like him…..
