Premier League 2020/2021 Thread

It's just wrong on so many levels, the owners of football clubs also in charge of the competition they want to win. I don't know where to start, how can they call it a European Super league without Buyern Munich or PSG in it? Completely agree it's the Americans trying to make it like American Football and that is one of the worst things for me. A bunch of Americans have come over to Europe and told us how we can make football better, by scrapping the CL which Man Utd players died trying to win. Even if it doesn't happen Man Utd will never be the same until the Glaziers are gone, not after this. It's like a couple that are in love and one of them cheats and they decide to stay together, never the same as before.

Glazers just need to go now, can't see how they can stay, oh hold on their a form of leech.

The week before a cup final against Spurs, Man City have lost a semi-final, then conceded a goal after 22 seconds and had a man sent off. That's their wobbles out of the system for another year. You couldn't make it up

Surely Spurs are the favourites for the worthless cup!? I mean, they have a manger who has literally never lost a game, in fact he has a 100% win record (played 1, won 1)

Ha, the performance didn't quite back up that stat, it was a lucky win against the worst team in 2021 (Southampton have picked up less points than Sheffield United this year!) My first thought watching tonight's game was "different manager, same players"

It would take a miracle...

Yeah, I saw the two VAR incidents.
The disallowed Spurs goal was a bit harsh, BUT yer man was stood in front of the keeper (although I'm not sure the keeper would have got the ball anyway) so it's probably fair enough it was chalked off. The pen was a bit of weird one. 1) WTF was the Saints boy doing!? 2) Was that REALLY a "clear and obvious" error in giving a free kick rather than a pen? Even after watching the replay a few times I'm still not 100% sure it was inside the box, if I had to say 'in or out' I would plump for 'in' but I wouldn't be confident. Maybe the two even themselves out. If so then Pool are due about 8 favourable decisions, and Jordan Pickford is due a leg break lol.

VAR yet again. I give up- what was Balbuena meant to do?!

****ing joke mate, he was kicking the ball, couldn't control where his foot came down. Wasn't even a tackle. They were lucky, we were starting to get the best of them until that point. They controlled the game in the first half tho. Luckily Liverpool only drew which was a result. Two in a row, need to win the next one.

I didn't see the Spurs game, heard a commentator on 5Live mention how boring Chelsea's style of play is. Not good with the sqaud they have.

I have seen the incident in the WH game, and no more. It's one of those that IF he wanted to hit/hurt yer man he would have done that, but it does look a tad innocuous. His eyes are on the ball/looking down the line etc.
I've only seen one angle on twitter so take my opinion with a pinch of salt. But I haven't heard anyone, bar Chelsea fans, say it was a red.

I also heard there was a shocker against Newcastle in Pool game. Again, I haven't seen it so I can't comment.

Those who think VAR needs to be scrapped grow in number every week. But why would the FA listen to the fans!?

As for Liverpool. The lack of CB's shafted them from Oct-Jan, but a recurring theme has been the shocking shot conversion rate. They had more shots on Saturday than against Palace, who they beat 7-0, but they only scored one goal. I heard Dubravka made eight saves. I have no idea if they are eight routine saves or eight worldies, but if you create that many chances to only score once is piss poor. That's what has cost Pool this season, as much as the lack of CB's. The goals from Mane/Firminio, the midfield and back four are a fraction of what they should be. Salah and to a lesser extent Jota, are carrying the attacking threat for the whole team.

In home games against sides in the bottom six Pool have taken FIVE points. FIVE from eighteen. FIVE.

No ****ing chance they deserve CL with stats like that. Nor will they get it.

Utd away up next. I'll call in now. Pool will dominate possession, create feck all, take the lead (Utd don't do scoring first) then continue to dominate possession, get caught on the counter and lose 3-1 with one being a VAR shocker.
Par for the course with both clubs. Pool dominate and don't put the game to bed, only to lose/draw.
Utd go behind, play crap, take a few half chances and win, despite being ****.

And in today's episode of "Spurs are more unlucky than the Titanic", City win the trophy with a goal scored by a player who should have been sent off. City were by far the better team in the first half, but had nothing to show for it. The second half was a lot more even, but I knew the minute Aurier gave away a foul a yard outside the box it was going to result in a goal. But it could have been a very different result if the referee wasn't a ***** and VAR did what it's supposed to.

I really don't get the timing with sacking Jose 6 day's before the final. He has won something in his first season in every job and Spurs got him in to win a trophy. All the fans want is a trophy, bonkers.

Maybe some loophole in the contract, reduced payout if there's no trophy? Or spite, to stop him winning one?

Yep I don't see why they couldn't have waited a week, Jose had a better chance of winning that final. There must have been a motive. Saying that winning the trophy would have been nothing more than a consolation prize for a shocking season and the complete mess we're in at the moment. I bet Levy wishes he had just given Poch a few million to buy some players now!

The only positive I can take from yesterday is that for the first time all season we played the same back four two games in a row, and it took City nearly 80 minutes to score which is quite an achievement. We have one of the worst defensive squads in the league, but mixing them up every week is only going to make it worse, they just need to pick four and (injury permitting) stick with them.

Yeah, I suspect the truth behind the timing will come out in a few weeks/months. It was strange though.
