Premier League 2012/13 Discussion Thread

City's group is tough but it's really only Dortmund they need to worry about. Ajax are eminently beatable. I could see City getting something off Real, not sure I can see Dortmund getting anything, especially not as they sold their best players over the summer.

I'd say all four English sides Will get through,Utd and Arsenal with more ease than the others.
Mind you as Liam says Utd have managed to come last in an easier group than that! Think it was Celtic and the mighty FC Copenhagen who pulled their kacks down.

Wow Moutinho to Spurs. I didn't think they'd pull that off.

Anyone think that QPR coud be the next Pompey?

Yeah, nice coup. We've been after him so good to see we're actually putting that Modric money to good use and actually closing deals for once.

Don't kow much about him. spuds have a lot of new signings to bed in tough, given they have a new manager as well things may be very up and down at shiteheart lane for a while.

WOW

I dont think Falcao will be a Althetico player by the end of tonight

Simply a masterful display!

As for Chelsea embrassing

Luiz is utter dogshit - how he can play in a Champions League team is beyond me

Chelsea players not interested in tracking back at all

Always been a fan of fat Frank but think that he is getting to the end now, decision making has been very slow in this game and as for Obi-Mikel, never seen him have a good game

Just flicked over from the paralympics and seen the score. Werent Athletico supposed to be playing Chelsea tonight, if they were they didnt show up!! Very

Agree totally. Mind you the holding midfielder tends to be a pretty annonymous, almost by definition. You don't really notice someone closing players down and making short sideways passes. But saying that Mikel just doesn't seem to do anything!

Makelele made a pretty good name for himself doing just that!

I don't like Chelsea and I don't like Di Matteo and I think it will soon be obvious that they won't be challenging for the title like every Chelsea fan I know (2  ) They've brought so many attacking players and no defensive players AND they've just sold Mereleis (sp?) and Essien... I'll give him till February!

Still think Mark Hughes will get the boot first though

PS. loving the Liverpool fans moaning about Rodgers already. Heard a guy on a phone in the other day pleading for the Liverpool board to sack Rogers and bring Kenny back... again!!! The same Dalglish that spent nearly £75 million on Henderson, Downing and Carroll  Brilliant

I do agree Chelsea needed some defenders like nobody's business. Terry is past it. Luiz is one of the worst defenders in premier league history and they have no right back. Altho Man Utd have done without any good defenders for a couple of seasons so why can't Chelsea?
Having said that i do think Chelsea look stronger than last season even without the mighty Drogba. You needed another top quality midfielder and this Hazard fella looks the real deal. Torres is key. He's made a good start and if he continues then Chelsea could be real contenders. That being said they have no one after him so if he doesn't play well or gets injured then it's another 6th place finish i'm afraid.

Makellele and Mascherano are about the best two holding midfielders the PL has seen. i consider Keane and Viera to be more box to box, gun-ho, hard tackling centre midfielders. The first two never got that far up e pitch, and never wanted to either. Both made names for themselves by doding the simple stuff, but in sides that were challenging for the title (as liverpool were then). If you'rea sideways passer it's probably easier if you're passing to an on form Robben or Gerrard rather than some plodder.

As for THOSE Liverpool fans. Sadly the idiots like that, probably the same idiots who were calling for Kenny to be sacked 5 months ago, give us sane Liverpool fans a bad name. Most clubs laim to have the best fans in the world, and there's no doubt the atmosphere at Anfield can be mazing for the big games, BUT i think Liverpool also have some of the worst fans around. The feeling of paranoia, entitlement and general demand for instant results is galling.
If i ever get like them, someone fly over and shoot me!

PS i agree withPete, if Torres gets injured Chelsea will struggle. But then Di Matteo is only keeping the be ch warm till someone "better" wants the job.

As much as I love England can we just move along and get to the weekend. We're going to bloody qualify ffs. And sports on ITV is just CRAP

I am sick and tired of watching arsenal batter someone, yet on the edge of my seat hoping we get something from the game! :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x
