Premier League 2012/13 Discussion Thread

Great Performance from the Gunners today Neil

Wish I could say the same for United they were woeful in the first half

Yet we got the better result Hmmm Football it never dissapoints us eh?

As for England Cricket what the **** Dead Game or Not 76 for 9 is ridicolous

I know mate. But that's my point. If that useless ivorian could hit a barn door, we would be second now.
Never mind

Totally agree. We showed Man City up for what they really are but almost came away with nothing. Thought ramsey and jenks had a good game who I usually slaughtet!

I know we played well, but its games like that, the Man U's of this world would have nicked.
Progress, maybe.
Frustrating, definately.

Very disappointed by the singing at Anfield today. Yes both sets of fans sing appalling songs but had hoped for this game there'd be none of it.

On a brighter note John Terry has retired from England :D

I have never rated him as a defender, apart from one decent season with Chelsea about 5 years ago.

Raging about that United game.

The red card was probably fair enough. Possibly, a little harsh, but the tackle looked awful so I can understand why the Ref sent him off. I think Evans was lucky not get a card though. He was going in two footed as well and on another day he could have even been sent off as well. That's by the by though.

The penalty REALLY ****ed me off. Firstly AGGER WTF are you doing? Attempting a back heal in the middle of the pitch!? Wise up son! Control the thing properly and pass to a ****ing red shirt, leave the silky stuff to the midfield. Then to compound it he empties Johnson on the half way line and leaves the one United player, Valencia, with a clear run on goal!? Gimp! As for the penalty itself. NEVER a penalty. Valencia is going down before the minimal contact. Why the hell he didn't shoot/blast it past Reina I dunno, but regardless, that was a very soft decision. Even more so considering the two equally good (or bad depending on how you wanna look at it) shouts Liverpool had turned down.

Sickening to be the better team for 90% of the game, even when we had 10 men, and come away with nothing. Especially against the Scum. United had 2 shots on target and won 2-1! Play badly and win, typical United. Play well and lose, typical Liverpool ATM.

And yes, Liverpool need more goal threat I know, but I still can't help feeling that if they had ANY luck (dodgey penalty given against, 2 dodgey ones not given for, red card against, and 2 defenders carried off injured) in that game they would have got something.

How soon before Liverpool fans start getting a bit ansy about Rodgers - personally I think he is out of his depth

He may be out of his depth, though it's far too soon to say.
I think Liverpool are playing well ATM they just aren't getting the breaks/goals/points. That and the horrible run of fixtures they have had to start the season. No reason to panic or start to worry just yet.

Also, the weakness of the Liverpool squad (partly due to the 100 million wasted on Charlie Adam, Andy Carroll, Jordan Henderson and Stewart Downing) is plain for all to see. Fixing that wil take time, especially as there is bog all money left at Anfield.

Finally, Rodgers is also hamstrung by the whole farce over Andy Carroll being loaned out and Clint Dempsey not coming in. I don't know who droppeed the ball on that one, but I hope they did the decent thing and quit/got the **** kicked out of them, after.

Yeah Liverpool's problem is not their manager it's their squad. You look at it and past Gerrard, the keeper and a couple of the defenders, there really aren't any good players. And 1 below par striker just isn't gonna cut it this season. I think it'll be another 7th-10th place finish for them this season but like Jeremy says, Rogers needs time. It's not his fault. He wanted Dempsy and Owen and the idiot owners blocked him. Now Spurs have the awesome might of Dempsy so worked out fine in the end... for us ;)

Should also add Rodgers wasn't helped either by the genius who allowed Dirk Kuyt a one million pound release clause in his contract.

Say what you like about Kuyt as a player, but I think even the most dyed in the wool United fan whould agree a player of his experience, International and domestic, for 1 million quid is a bargain!

Hmm, Arsenal had their chances but were never in the races against a physically powerful Chelski. They deserved the win. Haven't seen as many poor performances as I did in that first half hour for Arsenal. Couldn't blame Koscielny (well actually I could because most defenders would hack that away with a right foot but he hasn't got one!) as it was going in anyway.

Carlsberg don't do away victories in the premier league... but if they did...

Lol, that must have been a ail biting game for you pete. Especially with 4mins of injury time. Fergie twisting about not getting 3 clear penalties was classic

Sadly, i didn't get to see it. I was on a train from london to Edinburgh. I knew i wasn't gonna get to see it and didn't really care. It's my least favourite fixture of the season. We always lose! and we've never beaten Man U in the Premier league. Ever! Gutted now tho. Gonna try and download it if i can and watch it when i get back.

I havent seen it either but did try to catch a bit of radio commentary. In the First half we played worse then we did in the First Half against Lpool Thats says it all  Our midfield was overrun as they said on 606 We need a "Roy Keane type midfielder someone who isnt scared about getting their foot in. We have never really replaced Keane. Fletcher is good but he has had a long injury lay off.

In the second half we did have chances rooney hit post RVP missed but we left ourselves with too much to do.

Hats off to Spurs they took the game to us and we couldnt cope :)
