There's a seller on ebay that is charging £5 postage for a regular figure - I'm sick of seeing this on ebay.

Is there anything that can be done about this :?

I know it sounds extortionate, but recently it cost me £4.10 to send one single loose Boba Fett 1st class recorded. That's just postage price minus the padded envelope I paid 70p for.

I agree

I know sometimes the figure wont go through large letter. But these certainly would and a used envelope would help

There's not a lot you can do other than not buy from him. If you've actually bought something from someone and have been overcharged for postage the best thing to do is contact ebay. Of course, you should contact the seller first and basically ask for the difference back, giving a little leeway for packaging costs but time, effort, bacon sardines from Greggs on the way there are not allowed to be included in the charge. Not in this country anyway. The americans (ebay.com) do it and i think it's outrageous!)
You'll find a lot of sellers will be ok and refund you some of it but there'll always be those greedy ****ers who were doing it on per pose and will refuse. At this point you can report them to ebay and try to force a refund. Technically there isn't an option in place to open a "case" for this, at least, i don't think there is, but it is against ebay policy to overcharge for policy and you have been ripped off and deserve your money back. Then you just gotta hope ebay see your side.

Thanks for that Pete. I agree just don't buy from them.

I was charged £5 recently. I gave the seller the benefit of the doubt, like wrighty said sometimes recorded can come to £4.10.

The figure arrived in a shitty envelope posted 2nd class 60p!

I contacted the seller only to be told I was a cheeky bastard for asking for a refund ! Neg given

if ebay didnt take 10% and royal mail charge £4 for a small recorded packet it would be ok.

i think the seller has a right to charge (within reason) what he wants, if you dont like it dont pay it, just drop his star rating down, but i wouldn't leave a negative, you see the price, you pay it.

If you don't agree with the price the only thing you can do is avoid the seller/listing.

I had a one seller recently charges over £4.00 and he sent it franked 2nd class letter in a plain envelope with no bubble, what a twat!

Total twat mate

I see what you mean and there is a big difference between 60p and £5.00

However, as others have said, some of the larger figures cost £4.10 to post with eBay taking 10% of everything including postage, PayPal taking their 3% + 20p - it is possible to sell a figure for 99p and make a loss !

Yes, but you don't know if you've been overcharged till it arrives do you? LIke chazb73 says, you pay £5 shipping thinking, 'well that's dear but i'm sure it'll be sent well packed 1st class recorded delivery' and then it arrives wrapped in tissue paper sent 2nd class for 60p. Sorry that's out of order and would get begged every time. If sellers intentionally (significantly) overcharge for postage they deserve a neg. Especially if you contact them asking for the difference they conned from you to be told "you're a cheeky bastard". I'd neg him and phone ebay to get my money back.

remember myherpes are doing up to 1kg parcels at quite a large size for £2.78 (inc VAT).. takes a bit longer but is tracked (a sig at the end costs a bit more)

now Royal Mail have gone up again, anything not a large letter goes with them.

although I hear royal mail prices are coming down again for parcel sizes to compete.

Royal Mail prices - they're up and down like a tart's knickers

I just bought a SW pin off a chap on FB, $5 for the pin including free postage to UK and when it arrived the postage was $6.55!! :o

Well yeah being ripped off is totally different, if it states 1st class recorded and they send it plain 2nd in a jiffy bag that wrong, but some people complain when shipping is say £4 and they send narky emails saying " £4 is a rip off when you COULD have sent it for 90p" even when they have the figure they leave a neutral or knock your stars down.

i charge £22.00 for international as a starter as i now use fedex (unless its a single fig or letter) and get loads of abuse but i dont care.

people can see i actually pay that price but still mark my stars down because i wouldnt use a cheap option for them.

I agree with you.

If I'm charged £5 and it has cost that amount to send ie good padded envelope, 1st class recorded £4.10 fine, no problem.

It's the dicks that get me, 67p crap packaging charged a fiver

yeah you can always tell the people who want to make a few quid off the postage.

it just annoys me when a buyer buys your item at the stated price, and then complains about the cost and marks you down after they have bought it, if i buy something (like you said) for £5.50 and they package it really well, with care and post quickly, i dont care if it cost them 3.50, i wouldn't be too fussed. i can accept price of packaging, time, petrol and ebay fees make it hard work to break even.

the best bet is to offer free postage and just incorporate it into the sale price if its a BIN then they cant mark your postage down lol

Yeah it annoys the hell out of me too. Recently won some cardbacks with a postage price of £3.99 which I thought was steep but I got the cards for a good price, turns up today and it's only cost £1.20 and I've received back the very same padded envelope that I sent to this same seller a few weeks back

If I hadn't got the cards so cheap I'd probably be more pissed off and would vent but not going to complain or leave a neg will just mark him down on the stars.
