Three. Stevie G missed one for what would have been his hattrick. I think it finished 3-0, Suarez with the other.

2009 when you beat us 1 - 4 Gerrard scored a pen and Danny Murphy 2004 so 5!! Ok I'm going back a bit now.

Aahhhh, sorry, I thought you meant in one game. Doh.

Danny murphy went through a phase of scoring the winning goal against Utd, I think he did it 2 or 3 times in 2 years. That would have been 2001 ish though, way back when I was just about still at Uni.

Yes unbelievable record 3 0-1's, I was at the one when he lobbed Barthez!

Liverpool in Pot 3 for the CL, lovely.

What odds Pool getting Real? It just has that feel about it. Ohh and obviously Utd will get Lokomotiv Moscow, that's a ****ing given.

Teams Man Utd get in the group stages are like the teams Liverpool beat in the finals back in the 70's and 80's. I saw all the pots and thought they had already drawn the groups.

That's three tough groups for Pool, Spuds and Utd. Probably the three toughest groups in the draw. Group A could be tricky, but not as hard as the groups the three english sides got. City's is a formailty.
Group D is a joke. There will genuinely be tougher groups in the EL. Whoever gets out of group D will be cannon fodder in the nxt round.

You jinx us! That's the hardest group we've had since 98-99 season. Liverpool will win that group I reckon and get the runners up of group D in the second round. Can't wait for Ronaldo to come back to Old Trafford, he will have a field day the way Man Utd are defending.

I do think the three English sides SHOULD get out of their groups but I wouldn't be surprised if one didn't. Obviously City coudl play their reserves and cruise their group.

Sad to see Burnley go out last night, but in terms of their PL survival, it's probably for the best.

I think last season proved it doesn't matter who you draw in the groups, if you can't compete with the big teams there's no point progressing anyway. I agree they are three very tough groups but if they don't get through they don't deserve to, simple as that. It's why I haven't been too bothered about Spurs qualifying in recent years, we haven't been good enough to win it (yet!)

Irish statment of the year coming up, you don't need to be good enough to win it to ehh win it.

Look at the Pool team from 05, some world class players (Gerrard and Alonso) but some absolute dog shite, yes Djimi Traore I'm looking at you.
The Monaco and Porto teams from the year before were both bang average in European terms. That Roma team from last season (granted they 'only' made the semi but still) were solid but pretty unspectacular and they came close to beating Liverpool.
You just need to be solid and have a chunk of luck. Spurs are definitely solid enough. They have just had **** all luck over the last few CL campaigns.

That's more like the Spurs performance I'm used to, 90 minutes of meaningless passes around midfield. Alli misses yet another sitter by refusing to use his left foot, is it prosthetic or something? Vorm watches two goals go in without even trying to save them, get Lloris back. And who do you bring on with 5 mins left and needing a goal? Danny ****ing Rose. His two touches in the game are falling over giving away a corner, and skying a shot in the 95th minute. Top class time wasting from Watford at the end too, refs need to grow some balls and dish out more cards for it.

Oh well, I'd have taken 9 points from 12 at the start of the season.

Couldn't have said it better... that performance was a bit of a shambles...
such a shame given the previous performances IMO, however, I don't think for one minute that other top four teams won't get battered by Watford this season either, it won't just be Spurs that get a tough day at the office. Almost everyone in their team is (or looks) 6'6" and extremely athletic. They seem to never run out of steam and will grind it out against anyone they come up against, especially at home.

Yes, a very disappointing result for Spurs. They simply lack positivity moving forwards for frustratingly long periods of most games. Every time Watford got the ball today they moved it forward quickly and tried to put it into the box. Hardly rocket science, I know, but it's exactly what Spurs rarely seem to do. Instead, Spurs seem to be obsessed with possession football which results in far fewer chances being created. Don't get me wrong, Poch's tactics win more games than they lose, but with just a few more direct runs and crosses into the box, Spurs would create more chances and win more games.

It is also really bizarre how Harry Kane is virtually invisible every season until November, same every year

Can somebody buy Michel Vorm please? Two absolutely pathetic and avoidable goals

OK, slightly more objective review coming up

Firstly, Poch's team choice - what the **** is Harry Winks doing on the starting line up of one of the biggest games of the season? Sorry, that just reeks arrogance, there are far better players available in the squad. You don't experiment in games like this. And why is Danny Rose all of a sudden back in favour? We were playing much better without him thanks. He bought Lamela and Son on way too late, at least one of them should have started.

Secondly, I'll go out on a limb and say Liverpool were lucky. I don't know which game the commentators were watching, but IMO Spurs had more decent chances. Both Liverpool goals were soft, the second could have gone anywhere. Lamela's late goal was better than both, and Moura and Kane both missed absolute sitters earlier in the game. I think a draw would have been a more accurate reflection of the game based on the fact Spurs were much better in the first half and Liverpool better in the second.

Michel Vorm is utter ****, Spurs have been at a massive disadvantage in their last two games. Any keeper who punches away a set piece and then concedes the rebound deserves it, either catch the ball or stay away. You could say bad luck played a part in the second goal and Liverpool certainly don't deserve any credit for it, but I don't think Lloris would have let it go through his hands.

Finally, why only 5 minutes added time when Firmino spent 15 minutes crying on the floor for a flick on the cheek? It was a bit embarrassing to see Liverpool time wasting with half an hour left. I'm not saying Spurs could have drawn with a couple more minutes, but it certainly would have helped.

Saying all that, I expected to lose this match so am more annoyed at the way we lost it rather than the fact we did. On the positive side, Lucas Moura is still looking very dangerous, much more than Kane at the moment.

That's a pretty fair assessment. I think Liverpool should be delighted with coming away with all three points considering they hardly dominated the game overall. A draw would have been fairer, but as we all know, fairness doesn't come into it. I did think Danny Rose and Eric Dier were both dreadful, with the latter giving the ball away repeatedly throughout the game. Moura was a big positive for Spurs, and it's good to see him maintaining a high standard of performance this season. However, for far too many of the rest of them, their first thought upon receiving the ball is to pass the bloody thing backwards!... Grrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!

BBC News:

Jurgen Klopp's side emerged impressively from their biggest test so far at Wembley with a win that was far more emphatic than the final scoreline suggests.

Sorry, what? The first goal was a rebound from a poor goal keepers punch, the second was practically an own goal coming from a tap in after the keeper let the ball go through his arms. The only decent goal in the game was scored by Spurs. We were by far the better team for all of the first half, yes they played **** for most of the second, no doubt feeling hard done by, but were back on top again by the last ten minutes. There was nothing emphatic about that victory, who are these twats that review games they haven't even seen?
