Yeah was well soft, if you've been watching Liverpool for the last 28 seasons.

TBF, I have seen two pish angles. Sky didn't seem to want to show any replays. The first one the ball is hit that hard that I don't know how the **** anyone would get their arm into or out of the way. The second angle was from behind and off to the side so you couldn't tell if his arm was up or not. Still, if it's whacked at someone from 5 yards away, unless their arm is above their head or they dive and punch it away, it's bloody harsh to give a penalty.

I'll say this much though, that was a poor game. Granted Utd had a few out, but they still look so much less than the sum of their parts.

Don't think that was the penalty - you talking about the shot? If so, it wasn't that. It came back across the box and a defender moved his arm up before hoofing it away.

I need to see more/better angles. But from what I've seen, no pen. No chance to get out of the way. Unless his arms are in a daft position I don't see how you can give it.

Your looking at the wrong bit, it's the second deflection. His arm is above his head and moves towards the ball. On another note did anyone else see the first Spurs goal? Talk about goal line technology being used to it's full potential.

Ahh ok. As I said, I've only seen the two **** angles sky showed live. Unusually for the. they seemed to decide that was enough and that we didn't need to see any more. Must have been cos the game was so action packed.

Agreed on Spurs goal, NO WAY you could that with the naked eye. Even if you were stood on the post looking across the line, you'd be guessing.

Ps, Edd what are you talking about, that Ricarlison fella is brilliant! :D

Just seen it on MOTD. Yeah, fair enough, that's a pen. I assumed it was for the block by Morgan (?) but Amaty does move his hand so no complaints. Would have been nice if Sky had bothered to show more than 2 **** replays.

No shame in losing to City I guess but I still remember our past glories and can't help but think we should be progressing to compete at the top......

Arsenal will take time to settle. New manager, a lot of new players and change after so many years of wenger. I rate Emery though. Give it a few months and you'll see a better Arsenal.

Ozil was poor today though, and that sideshow Bob wannabe  . Typical Arsenal holding midfielder. More interested in attacking. No idea on positioning, marking, organisation or tackling. He did contineu to show for the ball and didn't hide though.

To be fair he's only 19 and one for the future, he was only playing due to Torreira having only recently returned from World Cup hols. Two actual holding midfielders (however green) has to be seen as progress from recent Wenger teams

I agree that if there is a new Arsenal it wont be seen for a few months, and suspect there will be three teams from London chasing fourth.

All Arsenal have to do is get some away points to improve on last season (the defence is still far from convincing though), Chelsea are also an unknown but have a good squad, and its difficult seeing how Spurs can progress when all the other top six clubs have strengthened but where they have no new signings.

Despite top four last year's finish was worse than the year before. Spur's big issue is wages, they could really compete for the title if they could attract a couple more world class players. I heard today that Levy is the highest earner on £6.5 million - something not right there, but unlikely to change whilst the stadium is being paid off

I agree Arsenal need time and they should have had a penalty today. I'm not convinced by Emery though, that's just my feeling which is about as reliable as Phil Jones.

The Spurs situation is fascinating, how are they going to deal with the new stadium and can they improve or even match last season with the same squad? If they do I think you have to say Pochettino is The main reason and they will do well to keep him.

That third Liverpool goal today was shocking, how didn't the linesman see that!

Yeah, offside so shouldn't have stood. It's harder in real time though. Slow mo's make things look a lot clear and Linesmen get 1 view of it. It was offside but by no means the worst offside call I've seen. He was prob 2 yards ish off. We'll see much worse this season.
Decisions like that I give the lino a bit of leeway for. With him having to look at two things at once (ball and last man) it's hard not to miss a few, a yard or two. I write off to the impossibility of trying to judge at full speed. It didn't affect the outcome of the game either.
And "yeah" you can quote me on this when one goes against Liverpool later in the season.

FFS, how are Spurs not at least 5-1 up against Fulham. I've never seen so many missed chances.
