PL 2017-2018 Thread

75million is a **** load.
He cudnt b any worse than they have now, but my money is on him turnng in to Lovern mark 2. Lovern was brilliant at Southampton. For Liverpool he has been mediocre, at best.

Van Dyke... £75m... so what is Kane now worth? £300m??? The world has gone mad...
With out doubt a better defender than Kyle Walker, but Walker was never a £50m player either. Its all gotten way out of hand now

You can't take the piss out of Utd for spending £75 million on Lukaku anymore!

I just hope he's better at defending than Lukaku.

I'm glad you mentioned that, I can think of 2 goals in the last couple weeks that have been completely his fault. We would be better off leaving him on the half way line for set pieces. Shocking.

The last 5 minutes of tonight's Palace Arsenal game is the most cowardly end of a game I've ever seen, absolutely pathetic. If you're so scared of losing you have to lie on the floor hiding the ball and cowering by the corner flag running down the clock, football might not be the game for you. Referees should take much harsher action against time wasting, especially when an entire team is in on it

If Zaha had made proper cntact with that header in abiut the 84th minute it would have been a very different end. But he closed his eyes and it hit his shoulder.

Some soft as **** penalties in the PL this weekend. It seems to soft penalties are becoming much more common atm.
Both City and Arsenal on the receiving end of shockers today. How Mike Dean still has a job I will never know. He is a serial game ruiner. The game isn't supposed to be about you Mike, yet every game you do the biggest talking point revolves around you. Wanker.

Agree the West Brom penalty was ridiculous, but as Sanchez's free kick was going about 10 feet wide let's call it even ;)

Aye, as I said to an Arsenal supporting mate, they were piss poor and didn't really deserve to win. But, to be denied victory by Mike Dean deciding he wanted to be the centre of attention..

I think losing last night would have been harsh, but can't complain too much about a draw. West Ham just defended apart from the wonder goal, which is how to draw with Spurs.

Two great goals. I think West Ham's just shades it, but both blinders.

And Spurs murdered them.

Disappointing result for Spurs given the c30 shots, a real need to sharpen the clinical finishes
Wet Spam get one decent shot away and wow... an absolute pin point beauty. Oh well, on to the next one

There's another soft as **** penalty (ie, NOT a penalty) this time for Liverpool.
Maybe that cancels out the soft as **** one Everton got in the league game, but I'd much rather referees stopped giving them everytime someone fell over at the slightest touch.

On another note, ballbag Shearer ranted that the Liverpool one wasn't a penalty as there wasn't enough contact to make a man go to ground (fair point, I agree totally) but he also said Everton's one in the league game was a stonewall penalty!? Ehh there is FA contact in both. There ar very very similar. How can one be "stonewall" and the other not a penalty? Make your mind up you ****ing tosser.

It's a contact sport, thus contact does not necessarily equal entitled to fall over like a drunken fairy and get a penalty.

Maybe it's time to ditch penalties in their current format altogether, they are so subjective and almost guarantee a goal (unless England are taking them in a tournament.) Something like a hockey penalty where it's a one on one from the half way line would be a bit easier for both teams to swallow and not so controversial.

I kind of agree with this, does my head in a bit when a player is on the edge/corner of the penalty box going know where away from goal gets clipped and gets a penalty. Seems harsh but it makes the game more exciting I guess and in these cases it's the defenders fault most the time for being clumsy.

That Chelsea penalty was a joke, never a penalty IMO.

See Mark Hughes has gone, 7 managers sacked so far.

You also only get 8 seconds to score in hockey. Rebounds are fine so you can have a dozen shots but once 8 seconds is up the ball is dead, even if it's en route to the goal.

Coutinho off to Barca for £140 mil. Weasel will be thrilled

Nope. Livid.

I just don't see what benefit Liverpool get from selling now as opposed to in the summer.
They would still have got 120m+ in the summer and wouldn't have lost one of their better players mid season and potentially have to integrate any replacement.
He was under contract, it wasn't due to expire anytime soon so Pool should have told Barca to **** off until the summer. Or insisted the price started with a 2 (and had 8 zeros after it).
I get the player wanted to go, but so what? He has a contract. Pool say 'we don't wanna sell, if Barca insist they want him we want 200m+ now, or are happy to discuss a summer sale now otherwise you aint going anywhere.'
The sale is good news for Pool's rivals for CL spots and bad news for Pool's chances of making CL and their remote chance of winning it this year. WHY shoot yourself in the foot? It makes no sense to me.

As it is one of Spain's big two has got away with blatantly tapping up and unsettling a player YET AGAIN. How many times is that? Bale, Modric, Ronaldo, Alonso, Suarez, Coutinho etc etc.
DDG is currently getting it, as is Courtious and Hazard. ANY other clubs in Europe and UEFA wud be all over it. Barca and Real do it and they do nothing.

I agree Weasel, also think they have sold him to cheap. I would have said £200 million if they really wanted him they would have paid that. Barcelona would never sell him that cheaply, they have put a €350 million buy out clause in his contract!

Couts going was inevitable, he had clearly spat his dummy out, selling now was just inconvenient, i think they have been planning a replacement this whole time after they refused to sell in the summer. The agreement will have been for him to stay until Jan for them to source players.

hopefully got a cause he cant play against them in CL if we get there!
