Thanks for the match report. I actually asked a Liverpool fan at work today whether he thought the win was deserved, and he said much the same as you about the tactics, although he seemed to believe a draw might have been a fair result.
As for Spurs' win, it certainly wasn't a classic, and I agree with Edd that some of the same old faults were certainly on view, however they also definitely improved as the match went on, after Bournemouth's very bright start, and ultimately deserved the win. Considering the midweek CL disappointment, I think this result should hopefully help restore a little confidence. I do wish Spurs would be more positive in possession though. Most of the time, with the notable and refreshing exception of Son (and in this game, Aurier), whenever a Spurs player gets the ball, his first instinct seems to be to pass it backwards or side-to-side, and it's infuriating! Son, by contrast, wants to move the ball forward quickly and either cross it into the box (something most Spurs players can be very reluctant to do), or else have a shot himself. Aurier, for all his shortcomings, did at least try to put in a few crosses as well, including the one that lead to Alli's goal, although most of his others went into orbit.
Overall, I find Poch's tactics far too negative, and yes I know they've ultimately yielded some good results, but I do think there's room for Spurs to put a few more crosses into the box and definitely to move the ball forward more quickly than they usually do. The obsession with passing it back to Lloris all the time has me wincing, as it only takes one mistake and the opposition are gifted an easy goal! Passing back to your goalkeeper should be your last resort, not your first.
