Its a little while now since CE and David & Co's excellent Palitoy Archive and I wondered if anyone had thought about an on-line archive to catalogue images of all the figures, playsets, vehicles and related items that are out there?

The swca.com (formerly toyrgus) does have a fair selection of items but by no means everything. It seems to me that there could be scope for a dedicated website along the lines of the swca.com just for Palitoy in which collectors can contribute pics. Perhaps this could be combined with Jasons excellent work on the cardback matrices?

Just my thoughts, I know sod all about website design

I wouldn't be surprised if Dave Tree is putting something together.

If he doesn't post soon, just say the magic words - "Bend 'Ems are ****" and he should be along shortly

man you're a demanding lot.

OK, in a nutshell, yes something is being worked on, this could be general site, but I personally would like it to be more tied with SWCA as this should be recognised as the home and bible of all things related to Star Wars toys from all over the world.

However, equally at the same time work is continuing building more knowledge and understanding to share to the wider world. This will be a Palitoy book, to compliement those already established by John Kellerman and Stephane Faurcourt and the forthcoming collectables publications by Gus for example.

There is a huge amount of work involved and more than most might probably appreciate as most just want a book with pictures of carded figures, but this is not really progressive or do Palitoy's Star Wars efforts any justice. There is still a lot of work to do, so this will be a while away, but there is an interim product that will be launched in the next 2 weeks that might help satisfy Palitoy collectors for 5 minutes or so.

Dave.

I've already ordered one.

The updated cardback guide I did was to fill a gap in the current info given that the one on palitoy.org is very dated now. It's always going to be more up to date than a printed version. I'm more than happy to contribute to a book or a new website or an existing website if there are larger plans for a palitoy archive! :)

I've chucked Mike Messinger a few pics on the swca but they haven't yet been updated onto the foreign sw section.

I guess it will depend what mood he is in..................

michael_mensinger[/color]"]Having said that, I deliberately post these "submission request" threads when I have a significant amount of free time and am able to process and post the welcomed flood of submissions quickly and efficiently. Right now my time for archive update work is *extremely* limited. As a result of today's bumping of this thread I'm getting hit with a number of submissions at a time where I simply cannot process and post everything as quickly as usual. In the future, before anyone bumps an older "Archie Request for Submission" thread, please check with me first to ensure that I have the available time necessary to field the entries. I'm not upset with anyone, I simply need to stop myself from becoming overwhelmed at the moment.

I was about to send in all my Palitoy ROTJ stuff, Kenner proofs, cromalin and other items but after reading what he wrote decided against it. I'm still waiting for him to request the items I photographed

He posted the photos on the New Acquisitions page but they haven't moved from there to the actual Palitoy section itself :? I'll guess I'll wait and see what happens before sending any more.
