Javd made a rod for his own back with the Nick incident, nice collection or not you don't storm into someone's FS thread saying their items are fake. Sorry but it really annoyed me, actually I think what annoyed me more is that after he did that he turned around a few days later and asked if anyone had ever seen a Trilogo Fett for sale - it's like huh? You gotta know your **** before you accuse someone of selling a fake!

I am pretty sure he edited his post, not sure if he just worded it wrong the first time around but when I saw it he had asked if they existed then later said he meant if anyone had seen them for sale

The thing that really gave me the shits about Javd was his absolute reluctance to admit he'd done anything wrong, even afterwards contacting other members and getting them to bump a thread which Javd felt gave validity to his argument. Piss poor effort all round.
I'm sure you'll admit if he'd done the same to one of your items you'd be fairly well pissed Iain.
Nick was fuming over this as well he should have been I don't know if he'd had any interest in the Fett prior to Javd's comments but I'm fairly certain it wouldn't have helped if he had and very well could've cost him a sale.

First off let me be thankful that Bootlegs are not for everyone. There's already too much competition these days as it is for the few choice pieces that I still don't own.
As to why SOME bootlegs command such high prices. Supply < Demand and at times hype/trend pushes them even higher.One fact is that no matter how much $$ you've got to throw at some of the rarer pieces, they're just not out there, so your ability to pay better there when/if those items become available.So I save up between big purchases, just like most/all other collectors do. None of us are made of money. It took me literally 16 years to finish a MOC set of 1st gen Polish carded figures(20 pieces). It wasn't because I didn't have the money to afford them, they just weren't out there at ANY price. At one point I was publicly offering 3x what the last known sale price of one had been with NO sellers. I assure you that bootleg collectors aren't "taking the piss" when we spend our hard earned money on these items.
Now don't go thinking that bootleg collecting is for people with a ton of money because there are plenty of lower priced cool as hell bootlegs out there too. A nice collection of Mexican bootlegs can be bought for the range of $5 to $150 a figure, Polish unarticulated, anywhere from $15 to $450 per fig, all depending on character and color, which is about the same price range as as collecting loose Kenner figs. Point is that not every bootleg is super expensive, which for some reason is part of your disdain towards them.
It's a challenging fun part of the SW hobby, definitely NOT for the overly condition conscious or those that need the immediate gratification of finishing a set overnight. I think they look far more interesting than Kenner figures. Nothing against Kenner figs, I have owned more than my share of them over the years too. But the bootlegs have stayed and the Kenner figures, for the most part, have been sold off (to fund buying more bootlegs).
I don't expect anything I've said to change your narrow mind about bootleg figures. The only thing that you're right about is that my choice was initially made on looks. An Uzay Imperial Gunner, in front of a calculator(one of my first bootlegs ever) on the card looks a million times cooler than either Kenner version (POTF or Trilogo) to me.

To be fair to the PMK guy, Sharp, whoever that is, was bang out of order. Comments like his are exactly why many people stay away from that web-site. It's full to the brim with people who think they're better than everyone else.
